Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to rest in green pasture and leads me by the still waters.
3 He restores my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Name’s sake.
4 Indeed, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries. You anoint my head with oil; and my cup runs over.
6 Doubtless, kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall remain in the House of the LORD forever. A Psalm of David.
22 The burden of the Valley of Vision. What ails you now, that you have wholly gone up to the housetops?
2 You who are full of noise, a city full of brutes, a joyous city. Your slain men shall not be slain with sword, nor die in battle.
3 All your princes shall flee together from the bow. They shall be bound. All who shall be found in you, who have fled from far, shall be bound together.
4 Therefore I said, “Turn away from me. I will weep bitterly. Do not try to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
5 “For it is a day of trouble, and of ruin, and of perplexity—by the LORD God of Hosts, in the Valley of Vision, breaking down the city—and of crying to the mountains.”
6 And Elam bore the quiver in a man’s chariot with horsemen. And Kir uncovered the shield.
7 And your chief valleys were full of chariots. And the horsemen set themselves in array against the gate.
8 And he uncovered the covering of Judah. And on that day, you looked to the armor of the house of the forest.
5 I encourage the elders among you. I am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and also a partaker of the Glory that shall be revealed.
2 Feed the flock of God which depends on you. Care for it - not by compulsion, but voluntarily; not greedily, but eagerly;
3 not as though you were Lords over God’s estate, but that you may be examples to the flock.
4 And when that chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive an incorruptible crown of Glory.
5 Likewise, you younger people, submit yourselves to the elders. And everyone submit yourselves one to another. Clothe yourselves inwardly in humility. For “God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.”
12 By Silvanus (a faithful brother to you, I reckon) I have written briefly, exhorting and testifying how that this in which you stand is the true grace of God.
13 She who is at Babylon, elected together with you, salutes you; and Mark, my son.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
