A Psalm of praise. Of David.

145 I will extol thee, my God, O King, and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

² Every day will I bless thee, and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

³ Great is Jehovah, and exceedingly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

⁴ One generation shall laud thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

⁵ I will speak of the glorious splendour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

⁶ And they shall tell of the might of thy terrible acts; and thy great deeds will I declare.

⁷ They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

⁸ Jehovah is gracious and merciful; slow to anger, and of great loving-kindness.

¹³ And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, a place of drought like the wilderness.

¹⁴ And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the crowd of beasts; both the pelican and the bittern shall lodge in the chapiters thereof; a voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be on the thresholds: for he hath laid bare the cedar work.

¹⁵ This is the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none else beside me: how is she become a desolation, a couching-place for beasts! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss, shall wave his hand.

²³ And Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, A rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of the heavens;

²⁴ and again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to enter a needle's eye than a rich man into the kingdom of God.

²⁵ And when the disciples heard [it] they were exceedingly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?

²⁶ But Jesus, looking on [them], said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

²⁷ Then Peter answering said to him, Behold, *we* have left all things and have followed thee; what then shall happen to us?

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, Verily I say unto you, That *ye* who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit down upon his throne of glory, *ye* also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁹ And every one who has left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit life eternal.

³⁰ But many first shall be last, and last first.
