Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
7 “Now as for you, son of man, I have [a](A)appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a [b]message from My mouth and give them (B)warning from Me. 8 When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will (C)surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand. 9 But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he (D)does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have (E)delivered your life.
10 “Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus you have spoken, saying, “Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we are (F)rotting away in them; (G)how then can we [c]survive?”’ 11 Say to them, ‘(H)As I live!’ declares the Lord [d]God, ‘I take (I)no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked (J)turn from his way and live. (K)Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?’
He.
33 (A)Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,
And I shall observe it to the end.
34 (B)Give me understanding, that I may (C)observe Your law
And keep it (D)with all my heart.
35 Make me walk in the (E)path of Your commandments,
For I (F)delight in it.
36 (G)Incline my heart to Your testimonies
And not to (H)dishonest gain.
37 Turn away my (I)eyes from looking at vanity,
And (J)revive me in Your ways.
38 (K)Establish Your [a]word to Your servant,
[b]As that which produces reverence for You.
39 (L)Turn away my reproach which I dread,
For Your ordinances are good.
40 Behold, I (M)long for Your precepts;
Revive me through Your righteousness.
8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for (A)he who loves [a]his neighbor has fulfilled the law. 9 For this, “(B)You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “(C)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love [b]does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore (D)love is the fulfillment of the law.
11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is (E)already the hour for you to (F)awaken from sleep; for now [c]salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. 12 (G)The night is almost gone, and (H)the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside (I)the deeds of darkness and put on (J)the armor of light. 13 Let us [d](K)behave properly as in the day, (L)not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But (M)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh (N)in regard to its lusts.
Discipline and Prayer
15 “(A)If your brother sins[a], go and [b]show him his fault [c]in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that (B)by the mouth of two or three witnesses every [d]fact may be confirmed. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, (C)tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, (D)let him be to you as [e]a Gentile and [f]a tax collector. 18 Truly I say to you, (E)whatever you [g]bind on earth [h]shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you [i]loose on earth [j]shall have been loosed in heaven.
19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, (F)it shall be done for them [k]by My Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three have gathered together in My name, (G)I am there in their midst.”
