Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
HE
33 Teach [a]me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes, and I will keep it unto the end.
34 Give me understanding and I will keep thy Law, yea, I will keep it with my whole [b]heart.
35 Direct me in the path of thy commandments: for therein is my delight.
36 Incline mine heart unto thy testimonies: and not to [c]covetousness.
37 Turn away mine [d]eyes from regarding vanity, and quicken me in thy way.
38 Stablish thy promise to thy servant, because he feareth thee.
39 Take away [e]my rebuke that I fear: for thy judgments are good.
40 Behold, I desire thy commandments: [f]quicken me in thy righteousness.
33 2 The office of the governors and ministers. 14 He strengtheneth them that despair, and boldeneth them with the promise of mercy. 30 The word of the Lord against the mockers of the Prophet.
1 Again, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man [a]from among them, and make him their [b]watchman,
3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people,
4 Then he that heareth the sound of the trumpet, and will not be warned, if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5 For he heard the sound of the trumpet, and would not be admonished: therefore his blood shall be upon him: but he that receiveth warning, shall save his life.
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned: if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away for his [c]iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.
29 (A)[a]Woe be unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye build the tombs of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the Prophets.
31 So then ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them that murdered the Prophets.
32 [b]Fulfill ye also the measure of your fathers.
33 O serpents, the generation of vipers, how should ye escape the damnation of [c]hell!
34 [d]Wherefore behold, I send unto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucify: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from city to city,
35 [e]That upon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed upon the earth, (B)from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zechariah the son of [f]Berechiah, (C)whom ye slew between the Temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation.
