Psalm 18:1-3

18 1 This Psalm is the first beginning of his gratulation, and thanksgiving in the entering into his kingdom, wherein he extolleth and praiseth most highly the marvelous mercies and grace of God, who hath thus preserved and defended him. 32 Also he setteth forth the image of Christ’s kingdom, that the faithful may be assured that Christ shall always conquer and overcome by the unspeakable power of his Father, though all the whole world should strive there against.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, which spake unto the Lord the words of this song (in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul) and said,

I will love thee dearly, O Lord my strength.

(A)[a]The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and he that delivereth me, my God and my strength: in him will I trust, my shield, the horn also of my salvation, and my refuge.

I will call upon the Lord, which is worthy to be [b]praised: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.

Psalm 18:20-32

20 The Lord rewarded me according to my [a]righteousness: according to the pureness of mine hand he recompensed me:

21 Because I kept the ways of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.

22 For all his laws were before me, and I did not cast away his [b]commandments from me.

23 I was upright also with him, and have kept me from my [c]wickedness.

24 Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness, and according to the pureness of mine hands in his sight.

25 With the [d]godly thou wilt show thyself godly: with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.

26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure, and with the froward thou wilt show thyself froward.

27 Thus thou wilt save the poor people, and wilt [e]cast down to proud looks.

28 Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will lighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I have [f]broken through an host, and by my God I have leaped over a wall.

30 The way of God is uncorrupt: the [g]word of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.

31 For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mighty save our God?

32 God girdeth me with strength, and maketh my [h]way upright.

Isaiah 28:14-22

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people, which is at Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a [a]covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement: though a scourge run over, and pass through, it shall not come at us: for we have made [b]falsehood our refuge, and under vanity are we hid,

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will lay in Zion a stone, a [c]tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation. He that believeth, [d]shall not make haste.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the rule, and [e]righteousness to the balance, and the [f]hail shall sweep away the vain confidence, and the waters shall overflow [g]the secret place.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand: when a scourge shall run over and pass through, then shall ye be trodden down by it.

19 When it passeth over, it shall take you away: for it shall pass through every morning in the day and in the night, and there shall be only [h]fear, to make you to understand the hearing.

20 For the bed is [i]strait, that it cannot suffice, and the covering narrow, that one cannot wrap himself.

21 For the Lord shall stand as in mount [j]Perazim: he shall be wroth as in the valley [k]of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore be no mockers, lest your bonds increase: for I have heard of the Lord of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

Matthew 26:6-13

(A)[a]And when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

[b]There came unto him a woman, which had a [c]box of very costly ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at the table.

And when his [d]disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, What needed this [e]waste?

For this ointment might have been sold for much, and been given to the poor.

10 [f]And Jesus knowing it, said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

11 (B)[g]For ye have the poor always with you, but me shall ye not have always.

12 For [h]in that she poured this ointment on my body, she did it to bury me.

13 Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached throughout all the world, there shall also this that she hath done, be spoken of for a memorial of her.
