Psalm 87

Praise in Zion

87 The city God built stands on the holy mountains. The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other places of Jacob. Great things are said about you, O city of God. I will say that Rahab and Babylon are among those who know Me. Look, Philistia and Tyre and Ethiopia say, “This one was born there.” But it will be said of Zion, “This one and that one were born in her.” And the Most High Himself will make her strong. The Lord will write in the book of the people, “This one was born there.” Then those who sing and those who play music will say, “All my wells of joy are in you.”

Isaiah 66:18-23

18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. The time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they will come and see My shining-greatness. 19 I will put something special among them. And I will send some of them who are left alive to the nations: Tarshish, Put, Lud, Mashech, Rosh, Tubal, and Javan, to the far islands that have not heard of My name or seen My greatness. And they will make My greatness known among the nations. 20 Then they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a grain gift to the Lord, on horses, in war-wagons, on beds pulled by animals, on donkeys, and on camels. They will be brought to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain gift in a clean pot to the house of the Lord. 21 I will take some of them for religious leaders and for Levites,” says the Lord. 22 “As the new heavens and the new earth which I make will last before Me,” says the Lord, “in the same way, your children’s children and your name will last. 23 From a new moon to another new moon, and from one Day of Rest to another Day of Rest, all people will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.

Matthew 8:1-13

The Healing of a Man with a Bad Skin Disease (A)

Jesus came down from the mountain. Many people followed Him. A man with a bad skin disease came and got down before Him and worshiped Him. He said, “Lord, if You will, You can heal me!” Then Jesus put His hand on him and said, “I will. You are healed!” At once the man was healed. Jesus said to him, “Go now, but tell no one. Let the religious leader see you. Give the gift in worship that Moses told you to give. This will show them you have been healed.” (B)

Healing of the Captain’s Servant (C)

Jesus came to the city of Capernaum. A captain of the army came to Him. He asked for help, saying, “Lord, my servant is sick in bed. He is not able to move his body. He is in much pain.” Jesus said to the captain, “I will come and heal him.” The captain said, “Lord, I am not good enough for You to come to my house. Only speak the word, and my servant will be healed. I am a man who works for someone else and I have men working under me. I say to this man, ‘Go!’ and he goes. I say to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

10 When Jesus heard this, He was surprised and wondered about it. He said to those who followed Him, “For sure, I tell you, I have not found so much faith in the Jewish nation. 11 I say to you, many people will come from the east and from the west. They will sit down with Abraham and with Isaac and with Jacob in the holy nation of heaven. 12 But those who should have belonged to the holy nation of heaven will be thrown out into outer darkness, where there will be crying and grinding of teeth.” 13 Jesus said to the captain, “Go your way. It is done for you even as you had faith to believe.” The servant was healed at that time.
