Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
105 O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk ye of all His wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore.
5 Remember His marvelous works that He hath done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth,
6 O ye seed of Abraham, His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen.
7 He is the Lord our God; His judgments are over all the earth.
8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
9 which covenant He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac,
10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob as a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, “Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,”
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering and fire to give light in the night.
40 The people asked, and He brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock and the waters gushed out, and ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He remembered His holy promise and Abraham His servant.
43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen with gladness,
44 and gave them the lands of the heathen; and they inherited the labor of the people,
45 that they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise ye the Lord!
1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou and all this people, unto the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.
6 Be strong and of a good courage, for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land which I swore unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded thee. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11 “Pass through the host and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare you victuals, for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it.’”
3 Therefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone,
2 and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God and our fellow laborer in the Gospel of Christ, to establish you and to comfort you concerning your faith,
3 that no man should be moved by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that thereunto we are appointed.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we should suffer tribulation, even as it came to pass, as ye know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor be in vain.
