⁵⁵ But being full of [the] Holy Spirit, having fixed his eyes on heaven, he saw [the] glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

⁵⁶ and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.

⁵⁷ And they cried out with a loud voice, and held their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;

⁵⁸ and having cast [him] out of the city, they stoned [him]. And the witnesses laid aside their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, praying, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

⁶⁰ And kneeling down, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep.

31 In thee, Jehovah, do I trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

² Incline thine ear to me, deliver me speedily; be a strong rock to me, a house of defence to save me.

³ For thou art my rock and my fortress; and, for thy name's sake, thou wilt lead me and guide me.

⁴ Draw me out of the net that they have hidden for me; for thou art my strength.

⁵ Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, Jehovah, [thou] God of truth.

¹⁵ My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from my persecutors.

¹⁶ Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me in thy loving-kindness.

² as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good.

⁴ To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,

⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ who once [were] not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

14 Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe on God, believe also on me.

² In my Father's house there are many abodes; were it not so, I had told you: for I go to prepare you a place;

³ and if I go and shall prepare you a place, I am coming again and shall receive you to myself, that where I am ye also may be.

⁴ And ye know where I go, and ye know the way.

⁵ Thomas says to him, Lord, we know not where thou goest, and how can we know the way?

⁶ Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.

⁷ If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father, and henceforth ye know him and have seen him.

⁸ Philip says to him, Lord, shew us the Father and it suffices us.

⁹ Jesus says to him, Am I so long a time with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father?

¹⁰ Believest thou not that I [am] in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words which I speak to you I do not speak from myself; but the Father who abides in me, he does the works.

¹¹ Believe *me* that I [am] in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves.

¹² Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father.

¹³ And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴ If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.
