Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
I Love Your Law, O Yahweh
Aleph
119 How blessed are those whose way is [a](A)blameless,
Who (B)walk in the law of Yahweh.
2 How blessed are those who (C)observe His testimonies,
They (D)seek Him (E)with all their heart.
3 They also do not (F)work unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
4 You have (G)commanded us,
To keep Your precepts [b]diligently.
5 Oh may my (H)ways be established
To (I)keep Your statutes!
6 Then I (J)shall not be ashamed
When I look [c]upon all Your commandments.
7 I shall (K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
8 I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (L)forsake me utterly!
Yahweh Will Take You Back
30 “So it will be, when all of these things have come upon you, (A)the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you cause these things to return to your heart (B)in all the nations where Yahweh your God has banished you, 2 and you (C)return to Yahweh your God and listen to His voice (D)with all your heart and soul according to all that I am commanding you today, you and your sons, 3 then Yahweh your God will [a](E)return [b]you from captivity and return His compassion on you, and He (F)will gather you again from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has (G)scattered you. 4 If those of you who are banished are at the ends of the sky, (H)from there Yahweh your God will gather you, and from there He will take you back. 5 (I)And Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and (J)multiply you more than your fathers.
6 “Moreover (K)Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, (L)to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. 7 (M)And Yahweh your God will [c]inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you shall return and listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you shall do all His commandments which I am commanding you today. 9 (N)Then Yahweh your God will [d]prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the [e]offspring of your [f]body and in the [g]offspring of your cattle and in the [h]produce of your ground, for (O)Yahweh will return to rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers,
God’s Commandments, Man’s Traditions
15 (A)Then some Pharisees and scribes *came to Jesus (B)from Jerusalem and said, 2 “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they (C)do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3 And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘(D)Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘(E)He who speaks evil of father or mother is to [a]be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever you might benefit from me [b]is given to God,” 6 he need not [c]honor his father.’ And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
