Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
The King of Glory
Of David. A Psalm.
24 The (A)earth is Yahweh’s, as well as its fullness,
The (B)world, and those who dwell in it.
2 For He has (C)founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may (D)ascend into the (E)mountain of Yahweh?
And who may rise in His holy (F)place?
4 He who has (G)innocent hands and a (H)pure heart,
Who has not (I)lifted up his soul [a]to worthlessness
And has not (J)sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall lift up a (K)blessing from Yahweh
And [b](L)righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 [c]This is the generation of those who (M)seek Him,
Who seek Your face—pay heed O Jacob. [d]Selah.
7 (N)Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O [e]ancient doors,
That the King of (O)glory may come in!
8 Who is this King of glory?
Yahweh (P)strong and mighty,
Yahweh (Q)mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift yourselves up, O [f]ancient doors,
That the King of (R)glory may come in!
10 Who is He, this King of glory?
Yahweh of (S)hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.
8 (A)Who are these who fly like a cloud
And like the doves to their [a]lattices?
9 Surely the (B)coastlands will hope in Me;
And the (C)ships of Tarshish will come first,
To (D)bring your sons from afar,
Their silver and their gold with them,
For the name of Yahweh your God,
And for the Holy One of Israel because He has [b](E)adorned you with beautiful glory.
10 “(F)Foreigners will build up your walls,
And their (G)kings will minister to you;
For in My (H)wrath I struck you,
And in My favor I have had compassion on you.
11 Your (I)gates will be open continually;
They will not be closed day or night,
So that men may (J)bring to you the wealth of the nations,
With (K)their kings led in procession.
12 For the (L)nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish,
And the nations will surely be laid waste.
13 The (M)glory of Lebanon will come to you,
The (N)juniper, the box tree, and the cypress together,
To adorn the place of My sanctuary with beautiful glory;
And I shall make the (O)place of My feet glorious.
14 The (P)sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you,
And all those who spurned you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet;
And they will call you the (Q)City of Yahweh,
The (R)Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 “Instead of being (S)forsaken and (T)hated
With no one passing through,
I will make you an everlasting (U)pride,
A joy from generation to generation.
16 You will also (V)suck the milk of nations
And suck the breast of kings;
Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your (W)Savior
And your (X)Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
Luke’s Account of Things Fulfilled
1 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things that [a](A)have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as those, who (B)from the beginning [b]were (C)eyewitnesses and [c](D)servants of (E)the [d]word, handed them down to us, 3 it seemed fitting for me as well, (F)having [e]investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you (G)in orderly sequence, (H)most excellent (I)Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty about the things you have been [f](J)taught.
