Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
A Psalm.
1 ¶ O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he has done marvellous things; his right hand has gotten him the victory, even the arm of his holiness.
2 The LORD has made known his saving health; he has openly showed his righteousness in the sight of the Gentiles.
3 He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the saving health of our God.
4 ¶ Sing with joy unto the LORD, all the earth; lift up thy voice and rejoice and sing praises.
5 Sing praises unto the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the voice of a song.
6 With trumpets and the sound of the shofar make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
7 Let the sea roar and the fullness thereof, the world and those that dwell therein.
8 Let the rivers clap their hands; let the mountains be joyful together
9 before the LORD; for he has come to judge the earth; with righteousness he shall judge the world and the peoples with equity.
10 ¶ Then I looked, and, behold, above the heaven that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
2 And he spoke to the man clothed with linen and said, Go in between the wheels under the cherubim and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in, in my sight.
3 Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house when this man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.
4 And the glory of the LORD had gone up from the cherubim to the threshold of the door, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory.
5 And the thunder of the cherubim’s wings was heard even to the outer court as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks.
6 And it came to pass that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim; then he went in and stood among the wheels.
7 And one cherubim stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim and took thereof and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen, who took it and went out.
8 ¶ And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings.
9 And when I looked, behold, four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by each cherubim; and the colour of the wheels was as a stone of Tarsis or beryl.
10 And as for their appearance, the four were the same, as if one were in the midst of another.
11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they did not turn as they went, but to the place where the first one went, they followed it; they did not turn as they went.
12 And all their flesh and their ribs and their hands and their wings and the wheels: they were full of eyes round about in their four wheels.
13 To the wheels, it was shouted unto them in my hearing, Roll!
14 And each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherubim; the second face was the face of a man; the third the face of a lion; the fourth the face of an eagle.
15 And the cherubim rose up. These are the living creatures that I saw by the river of Chebar.
16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went with them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them.
17 When they stood still, these stood still; and when they lifted up themselves, these lifted up themselves also; for the spirit of the living creatures was in them.
18 And the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim.
19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight; when they went out, the wheels also were in front of them, and they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
20 ¶ And when he was asked of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21 neither shall they say, Behold it here! or, Behold it there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
23 And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them.
24 For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
29 but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back.
32 Remember Lot’s wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall cause it to live.
34 I tell you in that night there shall be two men in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together: the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
