Version
Psalm 123

Psalm 123

A song for going up to worship.

I look up to you,
to the one who sits enthroned in heaven.
As servants depend on their masters,
as a maid depends on her mistress,
so we depend on Yahweh our Elohim
until he has pity on us.
Have pity on us, O Yahweh.
    Have pity on us
because we have suffered more than our share of contempt.
We have suffered more than our share of ridicule
    from those who are carefree.
We have suffered more than our share of contempt
    from those who are arrogant.

Job 21:1

Job Speaks: Comfort Me by Listening to Me

21 Then Job replied to his friends,

Job 21:17-34

17 “How often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out?
How often does disaster happen to them?
How often does an angry God give them pain?
18 How often are they like straw in the wind
or like husks that the storm sweeps away?

19 “You say, ‘Eloah saves a person’s punishment for his children.’
Eloah should pay back that person
so that he would know that it is a punishment.
20 His eyes should see his own ruin.
He should drink from the wrath of Shadday.
21 How can he be interested in his family after he’s gone,
when the number of his months is cut short?

No One Understands How God Deals with Humans

22 “Can anyone teach El knowledge?
Can anyone judge the Most High?
23 One person dies in his prime
and feels altogether happy and contented.
24 His stomach is full of milk,
and his bones are strong and healthy.
25 Another person, never having tasted happiness,
    dies with a bitter soul.
26 Together they lie down in the dust,
    and worms cover them.

My Friends Have Betrayed Me

27 “You see, I know your thoughts
and the schemes you plot against me
28 because you ask,
‘Where is the house of the influential person?
Where is the tent where wicked people live?’
29 Haven’t you asked travelers?
But you didn’t pay attention to their directions.
30 On the day of disaster the wicked person is spared.
On the day of God’s anger he is rescued.
31 Who will tell him to his face how he lived?
Who will pay him back for what he did?
32 He is carried to the cemetery,
    and his grave is guarded.
33 The soil in the creekbed is sweet to him.
    Everyone follows him.
    Countless others went before him.
34 How can you comfort me with this nonsense
when your answers continue to betray me?”

2 John

Greeting

From the church leader.[a]

To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love because we share the truth. I’m not the only one who loves you. Everyone who knows the truth also loves you. We love you because of the truth which lives in us and will be with us forever.

Good will,[b] mercy, and peace will be with us. They come from God the Father and from Yeshua Christ, who in truth and love is the Father’s Son.

Living in the Truth

I was very happy to find some of your children living in the truth as the Father has commanded us. Dear lady, I’m now requesting that we continue to love each other. It’s not as though I’m writing to give you a new commandment. Rather, from the beginning we were commanded to love each other. Love means that we live by doing what he commands. We were commanded to live in love, and you have heard this from the beginning.

Reject Teachers Who Don’t Teach What Christ Taught

Many people who deceive others have gone into the world. They refuse to declare that Yeshua Christ came in flesh and blood. This is the mark of a deceiver and an antichrist. Be careful that you don’t destroy what we’ve worked for, but that you receive your full reward.

Everyone who doesn’t continue to teach what Christ taught doesn’t have God. The person who continues to teach what Christ taught has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and doesn’t bring these teachings, don’t take him into your home or even greet him. 11 Whoever greets him shares the evil things he’s doing.

Farewell

12 I have a lot to write to you. I would prefer not to write a letter. Instead, I hope to visit and talk things over with you personally. Then we will be completely filled with joy.

13 The children of your chosen sister greet you.
