Version
Psalm 123

123 I lift up my eyes to You Who dwell in the heavens.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God until He has mercy on us.

Have mercy on us, O LORD! Have mercy on us; for we have suffered too much contempt.

Our soul is filled too full with the mocking of the wealthy and the contempt of the proud. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of David

Job 20:1-11

20 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

“Doubtless my divided thoughts cause me to answer, and therefore I hurry.

“I have heard the correction of my reproach. Therefore, the spirit of my understanding causes me to answer.

“Do you not know this from old, since God placed man upon the Earth,

“that the rejoicing of the wicked is short, and that the joy of the hypocrites is but a moment?

“Though his pride mounts up to the heaven, and his head reaches to the clouds,

“yet shall he perish forever like his dung. Those who have seen him shall say, ‘Where is he?’

“He shall flee away as a dream and they shall not find him, and shall pass away as a vision of the night,

“so that the eye which had seen him shall do so no more and his place shall see him no more.

10 “His children shall flatter the poor, and his hands shall restore his substance.

11 “His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.

2 Peter 1:16-21

16 For we did not follow cunningly-devised fables when we opened to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But we saw His majesty with our own eyes.

17 For He received honor and glory from God the Father when there came such a voice to Him from that excellent Glory: “This is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well-pleased.”

18 And this voice we heard when it came from Heaven, being with Him on the Holy Mount.

19 We also have the enduring Word of the Prophets—to which you do well to pay attention, as to a light that shines in a dark place—until the Day dawns and the Day Star arise in your hearts.

20 So that you first know this: that no Prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the Prophecy did not come by the will of man. But holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
