²³ Who will grant me that my words may be written? Who will grant me that they may be marked down in a book?

²⁴ With an iron pen and in a plate of lead, or else be graven with an instrument in flint stone.

²⁵ For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth.

²⁶ And I shall be clothed again with my skin, and in my flesh I will see my God.

²⁷ Whom I myself shall see, and my eyes shall behold, and not another: this my hope is laid up in my bosom.

17 Unto the end, for David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this canticle, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. [2 Kings 22.]

² I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:

³ The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.

⁴ Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.

⁵ The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.

⁶ The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me.

⁷ In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.

⁸ The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.

⁹ There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.

2 And we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him:

² That you be not easily moved from your sense, nor be terrified, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as sent from us, as if the day of the Lord were at hand.

³ Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

⁴ Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God.

⁵ Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

¹³ Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.

¹⁵ Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God and our Father, who hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope in grace,

¹⁶ Exhort your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word.

²⁷ And there came to him some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, and they asked him,

²⁸ Saying: Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he leave no children, that his brother should take her to wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

²⁹ There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

³⁰ And the next took her to wife, and he also died childless.

³¹ And the third took her. And in like manner all the seven, and they left no children, and died.

³² Last of all the woman died also.

³³ In the resurrection therefore, whose wife of them shall she be? For all the seven had her to wife.

³⁴ And Jesus said to them: The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

³⁵ But they that shall be accounted worthy of that world, and of the resurrection from the dead, shall neither be married, nor take wives.

³⁶ Neither can they die any more: for they are equal to the angels, and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

³⁷ Now that the dead rise again, Moses also shewed, at the bush, when he called the Lord, The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;

³⁸ For he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live to him.
