¹² Blessed is that nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen for His inheritance.

¹³ The LORD looks down from Heaven, beholding all the children of men.

¹⁴ From the habitation of His dwelling he beholds all those who dwell on the Earth.

¹⁵ He fashions their hearts, every one, understanding all their works.

¹⁶ The king is not saved by the multitude of an army; nor is the mighty man delivered by great strength.

¹⁷ A horse is a vain help and shall not deliver by his great strength.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him, upon those who trust in His mercy

¹⁹ to deliver their souls from death and to preserve them in famine.

²⁰ Our soul waits for the LORD. He is our Help and our Shield.

²¹ Surely, our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we trusted in His Holy Name.

²² Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us. As we trusted in You. A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; who drove him away and he departed.

21 But Job answered, and said,

² “Hear diligently my words. And let this be your consolation.

³ “Allow me to speak. And when I have spoken, mock on.

⁴ “Is my complaint to man? If it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

⁵ “Mark me and be appalled. And lay your hand upon your mouth.

⁶ “Even when I remember, I am afraid. And fear takes hold of my flesh.

⁷ “Why do the wicked live, grow old, and increase in wealth?

⁸ “Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their generation before their eyes.

⁹ “Their houses are peaceable, without fear. And the rod of God is not upon them.

¹⁰ “Their bull breeds, without fail. Their cow calves, and does not cast her calf.

¹¹ “They send forth their children like sheep, and their sons dance.

¹² “They take the tambourine and harp and rejoice in the sound of the organs.

¹³ “They spend their days in wealth, and suddenly they go down to the grave.

¹⁴ “They say also to God, ‘Depart from us! For we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways!

¹⁵ ‘Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we should pray to him?’

¹⁶ “Lo, their wealth is not in their hand. Let the counsel of the wicked be far from me.

9 I say the truth in Christ. I do not lie; my conscience bearing me witness in the holy Ghost,

² so that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

³ For I could wish myself to be accursed, to be separated from Christ, for my brothers who are my kinsmen according to the flesh,

⁴ (who are the Israelites), to whom pertains the adoption, and the glory, and the Covenants, and the giving of the Law, and the service of God, and the promises;

⁵ from whom are the Fathers, and from whom, concerning the flesh, Christ - Who is God over all, blessed forever – came. Amen.

⁶ Notwithstanding, it cannot be that the Word of God should take no effect. For not all are Israel who are of Israel.

⁷ Nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham. But: “In Isaac shall your seed be called.”

⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh are not the children of God. But the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

⁹ For this is a Word of Promise: “At this time I will come, and Sarah shall have a son”;
