Version
Psalm 96:1-9

96 Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD all the Earth!

Sing to the LORD! Praise His Name! Declare His salvation from day to day.

Declare His Glory among all nations, His wonders among all people.

For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised. He is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the people are idols. But the LORD made the heavens.

Strength and glory are before Him. Power and beauty are in His Sanctuary.

Give to the LORD, you families of the people! Give to the LORD glory and power!

Give to the LORD the glory of His Name. Bring an offering and enter into His courts.

Worship the LORD in the glorious Sanctuary. Tremble before Him, all the Earth.

Psalm 96:10-13

10 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” Surely, the world shall be stable and not move; and He shall judge the people in righteousness.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the Earth be glad! Let the sea roar, and all that therein is.

12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it! Let all the trees of the wood then rejoice

13 before the LORD. For He comes. For He comes to judge the Earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the people in His truth.

Isaiah 14:3-11

And on that day when the LORD shall give you rest from your sorrow and from your fear and from the sore bondage in which you served,

then you shall take up this Proverb against the king of Babel, and say, “How has the oppressor ceased and the gold-thirsty rested?

“The LORD has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,

“who struck the people in anger with a continual plague, ruled the nations in wrath, persecuted and were not hindered.

“The whole world is at rest and is quiet. They sing for joy.

Also, the fir trees rejoiced in You, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, “Since you were put down, no hewer came up against us.”

“Hell beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming, raising up the dead for you, all the princes of the Earth, and has raised from their thrones all the kings of the Nations.

10 “All they shall cry and say to you, ‘Have you become as weak as us? Have you become like us?

11 ‘Your pomp is brought down to the grave and the sound of the strings. The worm is spread under you. And the worms cover you.’

Matthew 14:1-12

14 At that time, Herod the Tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

and said to his servants, “This is that John Baptist! He has risen again from the dead! And therefore, great works are done by him!”

For Herod had taken John and bound him, and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.

For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.

But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

Therefore, he promised with an oath that he would give her whatever she would ask.

And she (having already been instructed by her mother) said, “Give me John Baptist’s head here, on a platter.”

And the king was sorry. Nevertheless, because of the oath, and those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given to her;

10 and sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11 And his head was brought, on a platter, and given to the maid. And she brought it to her mother.

12 And his disciples came and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
