¹² Give to the most High according to what he hath given to thee, and with a good eye do according to the ability of thy hands:

¹³ For the Lord maketh recompense, and will give thee seven times as much.

¹⁴ Do not offer wicked gifts, for such he will not receive.

¹⁵ And look not upon an unjust sacrifice, for the Lord is judge, and there is not with him respect of person.

¹⁶ The Lord will not accept any person against a poor man, and he will hear the prayer of him that is wronged.

¹⁷ He will not despise the prayers of the fatherless; nor the widow, when she poureth out her complaint.

⁷ If our iniquities have testified against us, O Lord, do thou it for thy name's sake, for our rebellions are many, we have sinned against thee.

⁸ O expectation of Israel, the Saviour thereof in time of trouble: why wilt thou be a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man turning in to lodge?

⁹ Why wilt thou be as a wandering man, as a mighty man that cannot save? but thou, O Lord, art among us, and thy name is called upon by us, forsake us not.

¹⁰ Thus saith the Lord to his people, that have loved to move their feet, and have not rested, and have not pleased the Lord: He will now remember their iniquities, and visit their sins.

¹⁹ Hast thou utterly cast away Juda, or hath thy soul abhorred Sion? why then hast thou struck us, so that there is no healing for us? we have looked for peace, and there is no good: and for the time of healing, and behold trouble.

²⁰ We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, the iniquities of our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

²¹ Give us not to be a reproach, for thy name's sake, and do not disgrace in us the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

²² Are there any among the graven things of the Gentiles that can send rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou the Lord our God, whom we have looked for? for thou hast made all these things.

84 Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.

² Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.

³ Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.

⁴ Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou hast turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.

⁵ Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.

⁶ Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?

⁷ Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.

⁶ For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.

⁷ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

⁸ As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly.

¹⁶ At my first answer no man stood with me, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their charge.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁸ The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

⁹ And to some who trusted in themselves as just, and despised others, he spoke also this parable:

¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

¹¹ The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican.

¹² I fast twice in a week: I give tithes of all that I possess.

¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O God, be merciful to me a sinner.

¹⁴ I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather than the other: because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
