²⁷ And if any one of the people of the land shall sin through ignorance, doing any of those things that by the law of the Lord are forbidden, and offending,

²⁸ And shall come to know his sin, he shall offer a she goat without blemish.

²⁹ And he shall put his hand upon the head of the victim that is for sin, and shall immolate it in the place of the holocaust.

³⁰ And the priest shall take of the blood with his finger, and shall touch the horns of the altar of holocaust, and shall pour out the rest at the foot thereof.

³¹ But taking off all the fat, as is wont to be taken away of the victims of peace offerings, he shall burn it upon the altar, for a sweet savour to the Lord: and he shall pray for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

¹⁴ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

¹⁵ If any one shall sin through mistake, transgressing the ceremonies in those things that are sacrificed to the Lord, he shall offer for his offence a ram without blemish out of the flocks, that may be bought for two sicles, according to the weight of the sanctuary:

¹⁶ And he shall make good the damage itself which he hath done, and shall add the fifth part besides, delivering it to the priest, who shall pray for him, offering the ram, and it shall be forgiven him.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul,

¹² Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹³ Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God's sake: whether it be to the king as excelling;

¹⁴ Or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of the good:

¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

¹⁶ As free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice, but as the servants of God.

¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
