Psalm 96:1-9

A Call to Worship the Lord the Righteous Judge.

96 (A)Sing to the Lord a (B)new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
Tell of (D)His glory among the nations,
His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
For (E)great is the Lord and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is to be (G)feared (H)above all gods.
For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [a]idols,
But (J)the Lord made the heavens.
(K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

[b]Ascribe to the Lord, O (L)families of the peoples,
[c](M)Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
[d]Ascribe to the Lord the (N)glory of His name;
Bring an [e](O)offering and come into His courts.
(P)Worship the Lord in [f]holy attire;
(Q)Tremble before Him, all the earth.

1 Kings 8:31-40

31 (A)If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath, and he comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this house, 32 then hear in heaven and act and judge Your servants, (B)condemning the wicked by bringing his way on his own head and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.

33 (C)When Your people Israel are [a]defeated before an enemy, because they have sinned against You, (D)if they turn to You again and confess Your name and pray and make supplication to You in this house, 34 then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers.

35 (E)When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name and turn from their sin when You afflict them, 36 then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants and of Your people Israel, (F)indeed, teach them the good way in which they should walk. And (G)send rain on Your land, which You have given Your people for an inheritance.

37 (H)If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their [b]cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is, 38 whatever prayer or supplication is made by any man or by all Your people Israel, [c]each knowing the [d]affliction of his own heart, and spreading his [e]hands toward this house; 39 then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and render to each according to all his ways, (I)whose heart You know, for (J)You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men, 40 that they may [f]fear You all the days that they live [g]in the land which You have given to our fathers.

Luke 4:31-37

31 And (A)He came down to (B)Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath; 32 and (C)they were amazed at His teaching, for (D)His [a]message was with authority. 33 In the synagogue there was a man [b]possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Let us alone! [c](E)What business do we have with each other, Jesus [d]of (F)Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—(G)the Holy One of God!” 35 But Jesus (H)rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him without doing him any harm. 36 And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, “What is [e]this message? For (I)with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out.” 37 And (J)the report about Him was spreading into every locality in the surrounding district.
