5 Hear my words, O LORD. Understand my meditation.
2 Hear the voice of my cry, my King and my God. For to you I pray.
3 Hear my voice in the morning, O LORD. In the morning I will direct myself to You, and I will wait.
4 For You are not a God Who loves wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You.
5 The foolish shall not stand in Your sight. You hate all those who work iniquity.
6 You shall destroy those who speak lies. The LORD will abhor the bloody man, and deceitful.
7 But I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy. In Your fear I will worship toward Your Holy Temple.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness, because of my enemies. Make Your way plain before my face.
9 For no constancy is in their mouth. Inside they are very corruption. Their throat is an open sepulcher. They flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy them, O God. Let them fall from their counsels. Cast them out for the multitude of their iniquities, because they have rebelled against You.
11 And let all those who trust in You rejoice, and triumph forever. And cover them. And let those who love Your Name rejoice in You.
12 For You, LORD, will bless the righteous. You will surround him with favor, as with a shield. To him who excels on Neginoth, upon the eight tune: A Psalm of David.
4 Therefore it displeased Jonah exceedingly; and he was angry.
2 And he prayed to the LORD, and said, “Ah now, O LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore, I fled to Tarshish before. For I knew that You are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness. And You turn from evil.
3 “Therefore, O LORD, I beg You, take my life from me now. For it is better for me to die than to live.”
4 “Then the LORD said, “Do you do well to be angry?
5 So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. And he made a booth there and sat under it, in the shadow, until he might see what would be done in the city.
6 And the LORD God prepared a plant, and made it to come up over Jonah, so that it might be a shade over his head and deliver him from his grief. So, Jonah was exceedingly glad for the plant.
7 But when the morning rose the next day, God prepared a worm. And it struck the plant, so that it withered.
8 And when the Sun arose, God also prepared a fervent east wind. And the Sun beat upon the head of Jonah, so that he fainted and wished in his heart to die, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
9 And God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “I do well to be angry unto death!”
10 Then the LORD said, “You have had pity on a plant which you have neither tended nor made grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night.
11 And should I not spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are 120,000 people, and many cattle, who cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand?
26 Then the Angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go towards the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, which is a wasteland.”
27 And he arose and went on. And behold, a certain eunuch of Ethiopia (Candace the Queen of the Ethiopians’ Chief Governor, who had the rule over all her treasure) who came to Jerusalem to worship,
28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he read Isaiah the Prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and enjoin this chariot.”
30 And Philip ran there, and heard him read the Prophet Isaiah, and said, “But do you understand what you read?”
31 And he said, “How can I unless I have a guide?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 Now the place of the Scripture which he read was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. And like a lamb, mute before his shearer, so also did He not open His mouth.
33 “In His humility, His judgment has been exalted. But who shall declare His generation? For His life is taken from the Earth.”
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, “I ask you, of Whom does the Prophet say this, of himself, or of some other Man?”
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same Scripture, and preached Jesus to him.
36 And as they went on their way, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What must I do to be baptized?”
37 And Philip said to him, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” Then he answered, and said, “I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
38 Then he commanded the chariot to stop. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water. And he baptized him.
39 And as soon as they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more. So, he went on his way, rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And he walked to and fro, preaching in all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
