2 我想让你们知道，为了你们、为了老底嘉人和那些我从未见过的人们，我竭尽全力地工作， 2 为的是要使大家受到鼓舞，使大家友爱团结，让大家通过理解充满信仰，能够充分认识上帝的奥秘，也就是基督。 3 所有智慧和知识的宝藏都蕴藏在他之中。
4 我说这些，免得让人用花言巧语欺骗你们。 5 尽管我的肉体不与你们在一起，但是精神上却和你们同在。当我看到你们生活井然有序，对基督的信仰坚定不移时，感到非常高兴。
