Numbers 7-8

Now when Moses had finished setting up the Tabernacle, and anointed it and sanctified it and all its instruments, and the Altar with all its instruments, and had anointed them, and sanctified them,

then the Princes of Israel, heads over the Houses of their fathers (they were the Princes of the tribes, who were over those who were numbered), offered

and brought an offering before the LORD of six covered chariots and twelve oxen (one chariot for every two Princes, and for every Prince an ox). and they offered them before the Tabernacle.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Take them, that they may be to do the service of the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And you shall give them to the Levites, to every man according to his office.”

So Moses took the chariots and the oxen and gave them to the Levites.

He gave two chariots and four oxen to the sons of Gershon, according to their office.

And he gave four chariots and eight oxen to the sons of Merari, according to their office, under the hand of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the Priest.

88 And in all, there were twenty-four bullocks for the Peace Offerings, sixty rams, sixty male goats, and sixty lambs of a year old. This was the dedication of the Altar, after it was anointed.

89 And when Moses went into the Tabernacle of the Congregation to speak with God, he heard the Voice of One speaking to him from the Mercy Seat that was upon the Ark of the Testimony, between the two Cherubims. And he spoke to Him.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to Aaron, and say to him, ‘When you light the Lamps, the seven Lamps shall give light toward the front of the Candlestick.’”

And Aaron did so, lighting its lamps toward the front of the Candlestick, as the LORD had Commanded Moses.

And this was the work of the Candlestick, of gold beaten out with the hammer. Both the shaft and its flower were beaten out with the hammer. According to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the Candlestick.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and purify them.

“And you shall do this to them when you purify them: sprinkle Water of Purification upon them, and let them shave all their flesh and wash their clothes. So they shall be clean.

“Then they shall take a young bullock, with his Meat Offering of fine flour mingled with oil. And you shall take another young bullock for a Sin Offering.

“Then you shall bring the Levites before the Tabernacle of the Congregation and assemble all the Congregation of the children of Israel.

10 “You shall also bring the Levites before the LORD. And the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites.

11 “And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD as a Shake Offering of the children of Israel, so that they may execute the service of the LORD.

12 “And the Levites shall put their hands upon the heads of the bullocks, and you shall make one a Sin Offering and the other a Burnt Offering to the LORD, so that you may make an atonement for the Levites.

13 “And you shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a Shake Offering to the LORD.

14 “Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel. And the Levites shall be Mine.

15 “And afterward, the Levites shall go in to serve in the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And you shall purify them and offer them as a Shake Offering.

16 “For they are freely given to Me from among the children of Israel. I have taken to Me all who open any womb, all the firstborn of the children of Israel.

17 “For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are Mine, both of man and beast. Since the day that I struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for Myself.

18 “And I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel,

19 “and have given the Levites to Aaron as a gift, and to his sons, from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel, so that there is no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near to the Sanctuary.”

20 Then Moses and Aaron and all the Congregation of the children of Israel did with the Levites according to all that the LORD had Commanded Moses concerning the Levites. So did the children of Israel to them.

21 So the Levites were purified and washed their clothes. And Aaron offered them as a Shake Offering before the LORD. And Aaron made an atonement for them, to purify them.

22 And after that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, before Aaron and before his sons. As the LORD had Commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

23 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

24 “This also pertains to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to execute their office in the service of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

25 “And after the age of fifty years, they shall cease from executing the office, and shall serve no more.

26 “But they shall minister with their brothers in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, to keep things committed to their charge. But they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites concerning their charge.”

Mark 4:21-41

21 Also He said to them, “Does the candle come in to be put under a bushel, or under the bed, and not to be put in a candlestick?

22 “For there is nothing hidden that shall not be opened. Nor is there a secret that shall not come to light.

23 “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

24 And He said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. With whatever measure you use, it shall be measured to you. And to you who hear shall more be given.

25 “For to him who has shall it be given. And from him that has not shall be taken away even that he has.”

26 Also He said, “So is the Kingdom of God: as if a man should cast seed in the ground

27 “and should sleep and rise up night and day. And the seed should spring and grow up, he not knowing how.

28 “For the Earth brings forth fruit from itself; first the blade, then the ears; after that, full corn in the ears.

29 “And as soon as the fruit shows itself, he puts in the sickle to it. Because the harvest has come.”

30 He said moreover, “To what shall we liken the Kingdom of God? Or, with what shall we compare it?

31 “It is like a grain of mustard seed; which, when it is sown in the earth, is the least of all seeds on the Earth.

32 “But after it is sown, it grows up and is greatest of all herbs and bears great branches. So that the birds of the heaven may build under the shadow of it.”

33 And with many such parables He preached the Word to them, as they were able to hear it.

34 And He spoke nothing to them without parables. But He expounded all things to His disciples separately.

35 Now the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us pass over to the other side.”

36 And they left the multitude and entered into a ship. And there were also other little ships with Him.

37 And a great storm of wind arose. And the waves dashed into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Master, don’t you care that we perish!?”

39 And He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace, and be still!” So, the wind ceased. And there was a great calm.

40 Then He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

41 And they feared exceedingly and said one to another, “Who is this, that both the wind and the sea obey Him?”
