Leviticus 17-18

17 All sacrifices must be brought to the door of the Tabernacle. 7 To devils they may not offer. 10 They may not eat blood.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say unto them, This is the thing which the Lord hath [a]commanded, saying,

Whosoever he be of the house of Israel that [b]killeth a bullock, or lamb, or goat in the host, or that killeth it out of the host,

And bringeth it not unto the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation to offer an offering unto the Lord before the Tabernacle of the Lord, [c]blood shall be imputed unto that man: he hath shed blood, wherefore that man shall be cut off from among his people.

Therefore the children of Israel shall bring their offerings, which they would offer [d]abroad in the field, and present them unto the Lord at the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation by the Priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the Lord.

Then the Priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the Altar of the Lord before the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and burn the fat for a (A)sweet savor unto the Lord.

And they shall no more offer their offerings unto [e]devils, after whom they have gone a [f]whoring: this shall be an ordinance forever unto them in their generations.

¶ Also thou shalt say unto them, Whosoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among them, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

And bringeth it not unto the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation to offer it unto the Lord, even that man shall be cut off from his people.

10 ¶ Likewise whosoever he be of the house of Israel: or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that eateth any blood, I will even set [g]my face against that person that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it unto you to offer upon the altar, to make an atonement for your souls: for this blood shall make an atonement for the soul.

12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, None of you shall eat blood: neither the stranger that sojourneth among you, shall eat blood.

13 Moreover whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, which by hunting taketh any beast or fowl that may be [h]eaten, he shall pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust:

14 For the life of all flesh is his blood, it is joined with his life: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, (B)Ye shall eat the blood of no [i]flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it, shall be cut off.

15 And every person that eateth it which dieth alone, or that which is torn with beasts, whether it be one of the same country or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and wash himself in water, and be unclean unto the even: after he shall be [j]clean.

16 But if he wash them not, nor wash his [k]flesh, then he shall bear [l]his iniquity.

18 3 The Israelites ought not to follow the manners of the Egyptians and Canaanites. 6 The marriages that are unlawful.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God.

After the [m]doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the manner of the land of Canaan, whither I will bring you, shall ye not do, neither walk in their ordinances.

But do after my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.

Ye shall keep therefore my statutes, and my judgments, (C)which if a man do, he shall then live in them: [n]I am the Lord.

¶ None shall come near to any of the kindred of his flesh to [o]uncover her shame: I am the Lord.

Thou shalt not uncover the shame of thy father, nor the shame of thy mother, for she is thy mother, thou shalt not discover her shame.

(D)The shame of thy father’s [p]wife shalt thou not discover: for it is thy father’s shame.

Thou shalt not discover the shame of thy [q]sister, the daughter of thy father, or the daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home or born without: thou shalt not discover their shame.

10 The shame of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, thou shalt not, I say, uncover their shame: for it is thy [r]shame.

11 The shame of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father (for she is thy sister) thou shalt not, I say, discover her shame.

12 (E)Thou shalt not uncover the [s]shame of thy father’s sister: for she is thy father’s kinswoman.

13 Thou shalt not discover the shame of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s kinswoman.

14 Thou shalt not uncover the shame of thy [t]father’s brother: that is, thou shalt not go in to his wife, for she is thine [u]aunt.

15 (F)Thou shalt not discover the shame of thy daughter-in-law: for she is thy son’s wife: therefore shalt thou not uncover her shame.

16 (G)Thou shalt not discover the shame of thy [v]brother’s wife: for it is thy brother’s shame.

17 Thou shalt not discover the shame of the wife and of her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, nor her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her shame: for they are thy kinsfolks, and it were wickedness.

18 Also thou shalt not take a wife with her sister, during her life to [w]vex her, in uncovering her shame upon her.

19 (H) Thou shalt not also go unto a woman to uncover her shame, as long as she is put [x]apart for her disease.

20 Moreover, thou shalt not give thy self to thy neighbor’s wife by carnal copulation, to be defiled with her.

21 (I)Also thou shalt not give thy [y]children to [z]offer them unto [aa]Molech, neither shalt thou defile the Name of thy God: for I am the Lord.

22 Thou shalt not lie with the male as one lieth with a woman: for it is abomination.

23 (J)Thou shalt not also lie with any beast to be defiled therewith, neither shall any woman stand before a beast, to lie down thereto: for it is [ab]abomination.

24 Ye shall not defile yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the Nations are defiled which I will cast out before you:

25 And the land is defiled: therefore I will [ac]visit the wickedness thereof upon it, and the land [ad]shall vomit out her inhabitants.

26 Ye shall keep therefore mine ordinances, and my judgments, and commit none of these abominations, as well he that is of the same country, as the stranger that sojourneth among you.

27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled:

28 And shall not the land spew you out if ye defile it, as it [ae]spewed out the people that were before you?)

29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, the persons that do so, shall [af]be cut off from among their people.

30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinances, that ye do not any of the abominable customs, which have been done before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: for I am the Lord your God.

Matthew 27:27-50

27 (A)Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered about him the whole band,

28 [a]And they stripped him, and [b]put about him a [c]scarlet robe,

29 And platted a crown of thorns, and put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand, and bowed their knees before him, and mocked him, saying, God save thee, King of the Jews,

30 And spitted upon him, and took a reed, and smote him on the head.

31 Thus when they had mocked him, they took the robe from him, and put his own raiment on him, and let him away to crucify him.

32 (B)And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they [d]compelled to bear his cross.

33 (C)[e]And when they came unto the place called Golgotha (that is to say, the place of dead men’s skulls)

34 [f]They gave him vinegar to drink, mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

35 [g]And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, and did cast lots, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, (D)They divided my garments among them, and upon my vesture did cast lots.

36 And they sat and watched him there.

37 [h]They set up also over his head his cause written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38 [i]And there were two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

39 [j]And they that passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads,

40 And saying, (E)Thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41 Likewise also the high Priests mocking him, with the Scribes, and Elders, and Pharisees, said,

42 He saved others, but he cannot save himself: if he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in him.

43 (F)He trusted in God, let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

44 The self same thing also the [k]thieves which were crucified with him, cast in his teeth.

45 [l]Now from the sixth hour was there darkness over all the land, unto the ninth hour.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with loud voice, saying, (G)Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou [m]forsaken me?

47 And some of them that stood there, when they heard it, said, This man calleth [n]Elijah.

48 And straightway one of them ran, and took (H)a sponge and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

49 Others said, Let be: let us see if Elijah will come and save him.

50 [o]Then Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up the ghost.
