Old/New Testament
The Lord Rules in Jerusalem
4 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest one of all. It will be raised above the hills, and the people will flow to it. 2 Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the Law will go out from Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 3 He will judge between many people. He will decide for strong nations that are far away. Then they will beat their swords into plows, and their spears into cutting hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and they will never learn war any more. 4 Every man will sit under his vine and under his fig tree, with no one to make him afraid. For the mouth of the Lord of All has spoken. 5 All the nations may walk in the name of their god. But we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.
Israel Will Return from the Strange Land
6 “In that day,” says the Lord, “I will gather together those who cannot walk and those who have been driven away, even those whom I have made to suffer. 7 I will make a new beginning with those who cannot walk. I will make a strong nation of those who have been driven away. And the Lord will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever. 8 As for you, O watch-tower of the flock, the strong-place of the people of Zion, the power you had to rule will come to you again. The nation will come to Jerusalem.
9 “Now why do you cry out in a loud voice? Is there no king among you? Has your wise man died, so that you have pains like a woman giving birth? 10 Suffer in pain, O people of Zion, like a woman giving birth. For now you will go out of the city and live in the field, and go to Babylon. There you will be saved and He will make you free from the power of those who hate you.
11 “Now many nations are gathered against you. They say, ‘Let her be unclean. Let our eyes look on Zion.’ 12 But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord. They do not understand His plan. For He has gathered them like grain to the crushing-floor. 13 Get up and crush the grain, O people of Zion. For I will give you horns of iron and feet of brass, and you will break many nations to pieces. You will give to the Lord what they received by hurting others. You will give their riches to the Lord of all the earth.
5 “Now gather yourselves into armies, people of Israel. They are all around us with their army. They will hit the judge of Israel on the face.
God’s Chosen One Will Come from Bethlehem
2 “Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are too little to be among the family groups of Judah. But from you One will come who will rule for Me in Israel. His coming was planned long ago, from the beginning.” 3 He will give them up until the time when the woman in pain gives birth to a child. Then the rest of His brothers will return to the people of Israel. 4 And He will come and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the great power of the name of the Lord His God. His people will live there and be safe, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth. 5 And He will be their peace.
Those Who Fight Israel Are Judged
When the Assyrian comes into our land and crushes under foot our strong-places, we will fight against him with seven shepherds and eight leaders. 6 They will rule the land of Assyria, the land of Nimrod, with the sword. And He will take us from the Assyrians when they come into our country and crush under foot our land.
7 Then the people who are left of Jacob will be among many people like water on the ground in the early morning from the Lord, like rain on the grass, which does not wait for man. 8 Those who are left of Jacob will be among the nations, among many people, like a lion among the animals in the woods, like a young lion among flocks of sheep. When he passes through, he crushes them and tears them to pieces, and there is no one to help them. 9 Your hand will be lifted up against those who hate you, and all of them will be destroyed.
10 “In that day,” says the Lord, “I will destroy your horses and your war-wagons from among you. 11 I will destroy the cities of your land and tear down all your strong-places. 12 I will put an end to your witchcraft, and you will not have people telling your future any more. 13 I will destroy your false gods and your pillars of worship, so that you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands. 14 I will pull up your wooden, female goddesses Asherah, and destroy your cities. 15 And in My anger I will punish the nations that have not obeyed.”
The Woman and the Dragon
12 Something very special was seen in heaven. A woman was there dressed with the sun. The moon was under her feet. A crown with twelve stars in it was on her head. 2 She was about to become a mother. She cried out with pain waiting for the child to be born. 3 Something else special was seen in heaven. A large dragon was there. It was red and had seven heads and ten horns. There was a crown on each head. 4 With his tail he pulled one-third part of the stars out of heaven. He threw them down to the earth. This dragon stood in front of the woman as she was about to give birth to her child. He was waiting to eat her child as soon as it was born. 5 Then the woman gave birth to a son. He is to be the leader of the world using a piece of iron. But this child was taken away to God and His throne. 6 The woman ran away into the desert. God had made the place ready for her. He will care for her there 1,260 days.
War in Heaven
7 Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against this dragon. This animal and his angels fought back. 8 But the dragon was not strong enough to win. There was no more room in heaven for them. 9 The dragon was thrown down to earth from heaven. This animal is the old snake. He is also called the Devil or Satan. He is the one who has fooled the whole world. He was thrown down to earth and his angels were thrown down with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “Now God has saved from the punishment of sin! God’s power as King has come! God’s holy nation has come! God’s Christ is here with power! The one who spoke against our Christian brothers has been thrown down to earth. He stood before God speaking against them day and night. 11 They had power over him and won because of the blood of the Lamb and by telling what He had done for them. They did not love their lives but were willing to die. 12 For this reason, O heavens and you who are there, be full of joy. It is bad for you, O earth and sea. For the devil has come down to you. He is very angry because he knows he has only a short time.”
War on Earth
13 When the dragon which is the devil saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he began to hunt for the woman who had given birth to the boy baby. 14 The woman was given two wings like the wings of a very large bird so she could fly to her place in the desert. She was to be cared for there and kept safe from the snake, which is the devil, for three-and one-half years. 15 Then the snake spit water from his mouth so the woman might be carried away with a flood. 16 The earth helped the woman by opening its mouth. It drank in the flood of water that this dragon spit from his mouth. 17 This dragon was very angry with the woman. He went off to fight with the rest of her children. They are the ones who obey the Laws of God and are faithful to the teachings of Jesus.
