Version
Isaiah 62-64

62 1 The great desire that the Prophets have had for Christ’s coming. 6 The diligence of the Pastors to preach.

For Zion’s sake I will not [a]hold my tongue, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof break forth as the [b]light, and salvation thereof as a burning lamp.

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all Kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by [c]a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

Thou shalt also be a [d]crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

It shall no more be said unto thee, [e]Forsaken, neither shall it be said anymore to thy land, Desolate, but thou shalt be called [f]Hephzibah, and thy land [g]Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shalt have an [h]husband.

For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons [i]marry thee: and as a bridegroom is glad of the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

I have set [j]watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which all the day and all the night continual shall not cease: [k]ye that are mindful of the Lord, keep not silence,

And give him no rest, till he repair, and until he set up Jerusalem the [l]praise of the world.

The Lord hath sworn by his right hand and by his strong arm, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies, and surely the sons of the strangers shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast labored.

But they that have gathered it, shall eat it, and praise the Lord, and the gatherers thereof shall drink it in the courts of my Sanctuary.

10 [m]Go through, go through the gates: prepare you the way for the people: cast up, cast up the way, and gather out the stones, and set up a standard for the people.

11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the ends of the world, [n]tell the daughter Zion, Behold, thy Savior cometh: Behold, his wages is with him, and [o]his work is before him.

12 And they shall call them, The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord, and thou shalt be named, A [p]city sought out and not forsaken.

63 1 God shall destroy his enemies for his Church’s sake. 7 God’s benefits toward his Church.

Who is this that cometh [q]from Edom, with red garments from Bozrah? he is glorious in his apparel, and walketh in his great strength. [r]I speak in righteousness, and am mighty to save.

[s]Wherefore is thine apparel red, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winepress?

I have trodden the winepress alone, and of all people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and tread them under foot in my wrath, and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the [t]year of my redeemed is come.

And I looked, and there was none to help, and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own [u]arm helped me, and my wrath itself sustained me.

Therefore I will tread down the people in my wrath, and make them [v]drunken in mine indignation, and will bring down their strength to the earth.

I will [w]remember the mercy of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according unto all that the Lord hath given us, and for the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath given them according to his tender love, and according to his great mercies.

For he said, Surely they are my [x]people, children that will not lie: so he was their Savior.

In all their troubles he was [y]troubled, and the Angel [z]of his presence saved them: in his love and in his mercy he redeemed them, and he bare them and carried them always continually.

10 But they rebelled and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore was he turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

11 Then he [aa]remembered the old time of Moses and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the [ab]shepherd of his sheep? Where is he that put his holy Spirit within [ac]him?

12 He led them by the right hand of Moses with his own glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting Name.

13 He led them through the deep, as an [ad]horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble.

14 As the beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious Name.

15 [ae]Look down from heaven, and behold from the dwelling place of thine holiness, and of thy glory. Where is thy [af]zeal and thy strength, the multitude of thy mercies, and of thy compassion? they are restrained from [ag]me.

16 Doubtless thou art our Father: though [ah]Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel know us not, yet thou, O Lord, art our Father, and our redeemer: thy Name is forever.

17 O Lord, why hast [ai]thou made us to err from thy ways? and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy [aj]servant’s sake, and for the tribes of thine inheritance.

18 The people of thine holiness have possessed it, but a little [ak]while: for our adversaries have trodden down thy Sanctuary.

19 We have been as they, over whom thou never barest rule, and upon whom thy name was not called.

64 1 The Prophet prayeth for the sins of the people. 6 Man’s righteousness is like a filthy cloth.

Oh, that thou wouldest [al]break the heavens, and come down, and that the mountains might melt at thy presence!

As the melting fire burned, as the fire caused [am]the waters to boil, (that thou mightest declare thy Name to thine adversaries) the people did tremble at thy presence.

When thou didst terrible things, which we looked not for, thou camest down, and the mountains melted at thy presence.

For since the beginning of the world, they have not [an]heard nor understood with the ear, neither hath the eye seen another God beside thee, which doeth so to him that waiteth for him.

Thou didst meet him, [ao]that rejoiced in thee, and did justly: they remembered thee in thy [ap]ways: behold, thou art angry, for we have sinned: yet in [aq]them is continuance, and we [ar]shall be saved.

But we have all been as an unclean thing, and all our [as]righteousness is as filthy cloths, and we all do fade like a leaf, and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away.

And there is none that calleth upon thy Name, neither that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us because of our iniquities.

But now, O Lord, thou art our Father: we are the [at]clay, and thou art our potter, and we all are the work of thine hands.

Be not angry, O Lord, [au]above measure, neither remember iniquity forever: Lo, we beseech thee, behold, we are all thy people.

10 [av]Thine holy cities lie waste: Zion is a wilderness, and Jerusalem a desert.

11 The house of our Sanctuary, and of our glory, [aw]where our fathers praised thee, is burnt up with fire, and all our pleasant things are wasted.

12 Wilt thou hold thyself still [ax]at these things, O Lord? wilt thou hold thy peace and afflict us above measure?

1 Timothy 1

The First Epistle of Paul to Timothy

Setting forth a perfect pattern of a true Pastor, whose office especially consisteth in teaching, 4 he warneth him that vain questions set apart, he teach those things, 5 which further charity and faith: 12 and that his authority be not condemned, 14 he showeth what an one he is made through the grace of God.

Paul [a]an Apostle of Jesus Christ, by the [b]commandment of God our Savior, and of our Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

Unto Timothy my natural son in the faith: Grace, [c]mercy, and peace from God our Father, and from Christ Jesus our Lord.

[d]As I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, so do, that thou mayest warn some, that they teach none other doctrine,

[e]Neither that they give heed to fables and [f]genealogies which are endless, which breed questions rather than godly edifying which is by faith.

(A)[g] For the end of the [h]commandment is [i]love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.

[j]From the which things some have erred, and have turned unto vain jangling.

[k]They would be doctors of the Law, and yet understand not what they speak, neither whereof they affirm.

[l]And we know, that the Law is good, if a man use it lawfully.

[m]Knowing this, that the Law is not given unto a [n]righteous man, but unto the lawless and disobedient, to the ungodly, and to [o]sinners, to the unholy, and to the profane, to murderers of fathers and mothers, to manslayers,

10 To whoremongers, to buggerers, to menstealers, to liars, to the perjured, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to wholesome doctrine,

11 [p]Which is according to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, [q]which is committed unto me.

12 [r]Therefore I thank him which hath made me [s]strong, that is, Christ Jesus our Lord: for he counted me faithful, and put me in his service:

13 When before I was a [t]blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an oppressor: but I was received to mercy: for I did it ignorantly through unbelief.

14 But the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant [u]with faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus.

15 [v]This is a [w]true saying, and by all means worthy to be received, that (B)Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

16 Notwithstanding for this cause was I received to mercy, that Jesus Christ should first show on me all long suffering unto the ensample of them, which shall in time to come believe in him unto eternal life.

17 [x]Now unto the king everlasting, immortal, invisible, unto God [y]only wise, be honor, and glory, for ever, and ever, Amen.

18 [z]This commandment commit I unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies, which went before upon thee, that thou [aa]by them shouldest fight a good fight,

19 Having [ab]faith and a good conscience, [ac]which some have put away, and as concerning faith, have made shipwreck.

20 Of whom is Hymenaeus, and Alexander, (C)[ad]whom I have [ae]delivered unto Satan, that they might [af]learn not to blaspheme.
