Isaiah 62-64

Zion’s Glory and New Name

62 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet,
Until her (A)righteousness goes forth like brightness,
And her (B)salvation like a torch that is burning.
The (C)nations will see your righteousness,
And all kings your glory;
And you will be called by a new (D)name
Which the mouth of Yahweh will designate.
You will also be a (E)crown of glory in the hand of Yahweh,
And a turban of royalty in the hand of your God.
It will no longer be said to you, “[a](F)Forsaken,”
Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “[b]Desolate”;
But you will be called, “[c]My delight is in her,”
And your land, “[d](G)Married”;
For (H)Yahweh takes pleasure in you,
And to Him your land will be married.
For as a young man marries a virgin,
So your sons will marry you;
And as the [e]bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So your (I)God will rejoice over you.

On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed (J)watchmen;
All day and all night they will never keep silent.
You who (K)remind Yahweh, take no rest for yourselves;
And (L)give Him no rest until He establishes
And sets (M)Jerusalem as a praise in the earth.
(N)Yahweh has sworn by His right hand and by His strong arm,
“I will (O)never again give your grain as food for your enemies;
Nor will [f]foreigners drink your new wine for which you have labored.”
But those who (P)collect it will eat it and praise Yahweh;
And those who gather it will drink it in the courts of My sanctuary.

10 Go through, (Q)go through the gates,
Clear the way [g]for the people;
(R)Build up, build up the (S)highway,
Remove the stones, raise up a (T)standard over the peoples.
11 Behold, Yahweh has [h]announced to the (U)end of the earth,
(V)Say to the daughter of Zion, “Behold, your (W)salvation comes;
(X)Behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.”
12 And they will call them, “(Y)The holy people,
The (Z)redeemed of Yahweh”;
And you will be called, “Sought out, a city (AA)not forsaken.”

Vengeance of Yahweh

63 Who is this who comes from (AB)Edom,
With (AC)garments of [i]glowing colors from (AD)Bozrah,
This One who is majestic in His clothing,
[j]Marching in the greatness of His power?
“It is I who speak in righteousness, (AE)mighty to save.”
Why is Your clothing red,
And Your garments like the one who (AF)treads in the wine press?
(AG)I have trodden the wine trough alone,
And from the peoples there was no man with Me.
I also (AH)trod them in My anger
And (AI)trampled them in My wrath;
And (AJ)their [k]lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,
And I [l]stained all My clothes.
For the (AK)day of vengeance was in My heart,
And My year of redemption has come.
I looked, and there was (AL)no one to help,
And I was astonished, and there was no one to uphold;
So My (AM)own arm brought salvation to Me,
And My wrath upheld Me.
I (AN)trod down the peoples in My anger
And made them (AO)drunk in My wrath,
And I brought down their lifeblood to the earth.”

Remember the Lovingkindness of Yahweh

I shall bring to remembrance the (AP)lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, the praises of Yahweh,
According to all the ways that Yahweh has dealt bountifully with us,
And the abundant (AQ)goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has dealt bountifully to them according to His (AR)compassion
And according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.
And He said, “Surely, they are (AS)My people,
Sons who will not deal falsely.”
So He became their (AT)Savior.
In all their distress [m](AU)He was distressed,
And the (AV)angel of His presence saved them;
In His (AW)love and in His mercy He (AX)redeemed them,
And He (AY)lifted them and carried them all the ancient days.
10 But they (AZ)rebelled
And grieved His (BA)Holy Spirit;
Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy;
He fought against them.
11 Then (BB)His people remembered the ancient days, of Moses.
Where is (BC)He who brought them up out of the sea with the [n]shepherds of His flock?
Where is He who (BD)put His Holy Spirit in the midst of [o]them,
12 Who caused His (BE)glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,
Who (BF)split the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the depths?
Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not (BG)stumble;
14 As the cattle which go down into the valley,
The Spirit of (BH)Yahweh gave [p]them rest.
So You (BI)led Your people,
To make for Yourself a glorious name.

Prayer for Mercy and Help

15 (BJ)Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious (BK)habitation;
Where are Your (BL)zeal and Your mighty deeds?
The (BM)tumults within You and Your compassion are restrained toward me.
16 For You are our (BN)Father, though (BO)Abraham does not know us
And Israel does not recognize us.
You, O Yahweh, are our Father,
Our (BP)Redeemer from everlasting is Your name.
17 Why, O Yahweh, do You (BQ)cause us to stray from Your ways
And (BR)stiffen our heart from fearing You?
(BS)Return for the sake of Your slaves, the tribes of Your inheritance.
18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while;
Our adversaries have (BT)trodden it down.
19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,
Like those who were not called by Your name.

64 [q]Oh, that You would rend the heavens and (BU)come down,
That the mountains might (BV)quake at Your presence—
[r]As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the (BW)nations may tremble at Your presence!
When You did (BX)awesome things for which we did not hope,
You came down; the mountains quaked at Your presence.
For from ancient times (BY)they have not heard or given ear,
Nor has the eye seen a God besides You,
Who acts in behalf of the one who (BZ)waits for Him.
You (CA)meet him who rejoices and (CB)does righteousness,
Who (CC)remembers You in Your ways.
Behold, (CD)You were angry; indeed we have sinned—
We continued in them a long time—
And shall we be saved?
For all of us have become like one who is (CE)unclean,
And all our (CF)righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us (CG)wither like a leaf,
And our (CH)iniquities, like the wind, carry us away.
There is (CI)no one who calls on Your name,
Who awakens himself to take hold of You,
For You have (CJ)hidden Your face from us
And have [s]melted us into the hand of our iniquities.

But now, O Yahweh, (CK)You are our Father;
We are the (CL)clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the (CM)work of Your hand.
Do not be (CN)angry beyond measure, O Yahweh,
(CO)Nor remember iniquity forever;
Behold, look now, all of us are (CP)Your people.
10 Your (CQ)holy cities have become a (CR)wilderness;
Zion has become a wilderness,
Jerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and glorious (CS)house,
Where our fathers praised You,
Has been burned by fire;
And (CT)all our precious things have become a waste place.
12 Will You (CU)restrain Yourself at these things, O Yahweh?
Will You keep silent and afflict us beyond measure?

1 Timothy 1

Instructions in Doctrine and Living

Paul, (A)an apostle of (B)Christ Jesus (C)according to the commandment of (D)God our Savior, and of (E)Christ Jesus, our (F)hope,

To (G)Timothy, (H)my genuine child in the faith: (I)Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and (J)Christ Jesus our Lord.

As I exhorted you when going to (K)Macedonia, [a]remain on at (L)Ephesus so that you may command certain ones not to (M)teach a different doctrine, nor to [b]pay attention to (N)myths and endless (O)genealogies, which give rise to mere (P)speculation rather than furthering (Q)the stewardship from God which is by faith. But the goal of our (R)command is love (S)from a pure heart and a (T)good conscience and an unhypocritical (U)faith. For some, straying from these things, have turned aside to (V)fruitless discussion, (W)wanting to be (X)teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

But we know that (Y)the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, knowing this, that (Z)law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and (AA)rebellious, for the (AB)ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and (AC)godless, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for (AD)sexually immoral persons, for (AE)homosexuals, for (AF)kidnappers, for (AG)liars, for (AH)perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to (AI)sound teaching, 11 according to (AJ)the gospel of the glory of (AK)the blessed God, with which I have been (AL)entrusted.

12 I am grateful to (AM)Christ Jesus our Lord, who has (AN)strengthened me, because He regarded me faithful, (AO)putting me into service, 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a (AP)persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was (AQ)shown mercy because (AR)I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the (AS)grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the (AT)faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 (AU)It is a trustworthy saying and deserving full acceptance: that (AV)Christ Jesus came into the world to (AW)save sinners, among whom (AX)I am foremost. 16 Yet for this reason I (AY)was shown mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Christ Jesus might (AZ)demonstrate all His patience as an example for those [c]who are going to believe upon Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the (BA)King of the [d]ages, (BB)immortal, (BC)invisible, the (BD)only God, (BE)be honor and glory [e]forever and ever. Amen.

18 This (BF)command I entrust to you, Timothy, (BG)my child, in accordance with the (BH)prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may (BI)fight the good fight, 19 keeping (BJ)faith and a good conscience, which some, having rejected, suffered shipwreck in regard to [f](BK)their faith. 20 [g]Among these are (BL)Hymenaeus and (BM)Alexander, whom I have (BN)handed over to Satan, so that they will be (BO)taught not to blaspheme.
