Psalm 116-118

I Love Yahweh

116 (A)I love Yahweh, because He (B)hears
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has (C)inclined His ear to me,
So I shall call upon Him in all my days.
The (D)cords of death encompassed me
And the [a]distresses of Sheol found me;
I found distress and sorrow.
Then (E)I called upon the name of Yahweh:
“O Yahweh, I beseech You, [b](F)provide my soul escape!”

(G)Gracious is Yahweh, and (H)righteous;
And our God is (I)compassionate.
Yahweh keeps (J)the simple;
I was (K)brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your (L)rest, O my soul,
For Yahweh has (M)dealt bountifully with you.
For You have (N)rescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
My feet from stumbling.
I shall walk before Yahweh
In the [c](O)land of the living.
10 I (P)believed when I said,
“I am (Q)greatly afflicted.”
11 I (R)said in my alarm,
(S)All men are liars.”

12 What shall I (T)give to Yahweh in return
For all His (U)bountiful dealings [d]with me?
13 I shall lift up the (V)cup of [e]salvation
And (W)call upon the name of Yahweh.
14 I shall (X)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be (Y)in the presence of all His people.
15 (Z)Precious in the sight of Yahweh
Is the death of His holy ones.
16 O Yahweh, [f]surely I am (AA)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the (AB)son of Your maidservant,
You have (AC)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (AD)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (AE)call upon the name of Yahweh.
18 I shall (AF)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (AG)courts of the house of Yahweh,
In the midst of you, O (AH)Jerusalem.
[g]Praise Yah!

Yahweh’s Lovingkindness Prevails

117 (AI)Praise Yahweh, all nations;
Laud Him, all peoples!
For His (AJ)lovingkindness prevails over us,
And the [h](AK)truth of Yahweh is everlasting.
[i]Praise Yah!

Yahweh’s Lovingkindness Endures Forever

118 (AL)Give thanks to Yahweh, for (AM)He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
Oh let (AN)Israel say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
Oh let the (AO)house of Aaron say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
Oh let those (AP)who [j]fear Yahweh say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”

From my (AQ)distress I called upon Yah;
Yah answered me and (AR)set me in a large place.
Yahweh is (AS)for me; I will (AT)not fear;
(AU)What can man do to me?
Yahweh is for me (AV)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (AW)look in triumph on those who hate me.
It is (AX)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in man.
It is (AY)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in nobles.

10 All nations (AZ)surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely (BA)cut them off.
11 They (BB)surrounded me, indeed, they surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
12 They surrounded me (BC)like bees;
They were extinguished as a (BD)fire of thorns;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
13 You (BE)pushed me down violently to make me fall,
But Yahweh (BF)helped me.
14 (BG)Yah is my strength and song,
And He has become (BH)my salvation.

15 The sound of (BI)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (BJ)right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
16 The (BK)right hand of Yahweh is exalted;
The right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
17 I (BL)will not die; indeed I will live,
And (BM)recount the works of Yah.
18 Yah has (BN)disciplined me severely,
But He has (BO)not given me over to death.

19 (BP)Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to Yah.
20 This is the gate of Yahweh;
The (BQ)righteous will enter through it.
21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have (BR)answered me,
And You have (BS)become my salvation.

22 The (BT)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief corner stone.
23 This is from Yahweh;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which Yahweh has made;
Let us (BU)rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Yahweh, (BV)save!
O Yahweh, (BW)succeed!
26 (BX)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of Yahweh;
We have (BY)blessed you from the house of Yahweh.
27 (BZ)Yahweh is God, and He has given us (CA)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice with cords [k]to the (CB)horns of the altar.
28 (CC)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, (CD)I exalt You.
29 (CE)Give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.

1 Corinthians 7:1-19

Concerning Marriage and Singleness

Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is (A)good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The husband must [a]fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. (B)Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and [b]come together again so that (C)Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But this I say as a concession, (D)not as a command. [c]Yet I wish that all men were (E)even as I myself am. However, (F)each man has his own gift from God, one this way, and another that.

But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is (G)good for them if they remain (H)even as I. But if they do not have self-control, (I)let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

10 But to the married I give instructions, (J)not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not [d]leave her husband 11 (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not [e]divorce his wife.

12 But to the rest (K)I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not [f]divorce her. 13 And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not divorce her husband. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through [g]her believing husband. For otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are (L)holy. 15 Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave. The brother or the sister is not enslaved in such cases, but God has called [h]us [i](M)to peace. 16 For how do you know, O wife, whether you will (N)save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?

17 Only, (O)as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk. And (P)so I direct in (Q)all the churches. 18 Was any man called when he was already circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? (R)He is not to be circumcised. 19 (S)Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is (T)the keeping of the commandments of God.
