Psalm 119:89-176

Lamedh

89 (A)Forever, O Yahweh,
Your word stands firm in heaven.
90 Your (B)faithfulness endures [a]from generation to generation;
You (C)established the earth, and it (D)stands.
91 They stand this day according to Your (E)judgments,
For (F)all things are Your slaves.
92 If Your law had not been my (G)delight,
Then I would have perished (H)in my affliction.
93 I will (I)never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have [b](J)revived me.
94 I am Yours, (K)save me;
For I have (L)sought Your precepts.
95 The wicked (M)hope for me—to destroy me;
I shall perceive Your testimonies.
96 I have seen [c]a limit to all perfection;
Your commandment is exceedingly broad.

Mem

97 Oh how I (N)love Your law!
It is my (O)meditation all the day.
98 Your (P)commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are [d]mine forever.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my (Q)meditation.
100 I perceive (R)more than the aged,
Because I have (S)observed Your precepts.
101 I have (T)restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not (U)turned aside from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How (V)sweet is Your [e]word to my [f]taste!
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 From Your precepts I (W)get perception;
Therefore I (X)hate every false way.

Nun

105 Your word is a (Y)lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
106 I have (Z)sworn and I have confirmed,
To keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am exceedingly (AA)afflicted;
O Yahweh, [g](AB)revive me according to Your word.
108 Oh be pleased with the (AC)freewill offerings of my mouth, O Yahweh,
And (AD)teach me Your judgments.
109 My (AE)soul is continually [h]in my hand,
Yet I do not (AF)forget Your law.
110 The wicked have (AG)laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not (AH)wandered from Your precepts.
111 I have (AI)inherited Your testimonies forever,
For they are the (AJ)joy of my heart.
112 I have (AK)inclined my heart to do Your statutes
Forever, (AL)to the end.

Samekh

113 I hate those who are (AM)double-minded,
But I love Your (AN)law.
114 You are my (AO)hiding place and my (AP)shield;
I [i](AQ)wait for Your word.
115 (AR)Depart from me, evildoers,
That I may (AS)observe the commandments of my God.
116 (AT)Sustain me according to Your [j]word, that I may live;
And (AU)do not put me to shame because of my hope.
117 Uphold me that I may be (AV)saved,
That I may (AW)have regard for Your statutes continually.
118 You have [k]rejected all those (AX)who stray from Your statutes,
For their deceitfulness is a lie.
119 You [l]remove all the wicked of the earth like (AY)dross;
Therefore I (AZ)love Your testimonies.
120 My flesh [m](BA)quakes for dread of You,
And I am (BB)afraid of Your judgments.

Ayin

121 I have (BC)done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Be for Your slave a (BD)guarantee for good;
Do not let the arrogant (BE)oppress me.
123 My (BF)eyes fail with longing for Your salvation
And for Your righteous [n]word.
124 Deal with Your slave (BG)according to Your lovingkindness
And (BH)teach me Your statutes.
125 (BI)I am Your slave; (BJ)give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
126 It is time for Yahweh to (BK)act,
For they have broken Your law.
127 Therefore I (BL)love Your commandments
Above gold, even above fine gold.
128 Therefore I deem all Your (BM)precepts concerning everything to be right,
I (BN)hate every false way.

Pe

129 Your testimonies are (BO)wonderful;
Therefore my soul (BP)observes them.
130 The (BQ)unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives (BR)understanding to the simple.
131 I (BS)opened my mouth wide and (BT)panted,
For I (BU)longed for Your commandments.
132 (BV)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
According to Your judgment [o]for those who love Your name.
133 Establish my (BW)steps in Your [p]word,
And do not let any wickedness (BX)overpower me.
134 (BY)Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
135 (BZ)Make Your face shine upon Your slave,
And (CA)teach me Your statutes.
136 My eyes [q]shed (CB)streams of water,
Because they (CC)do not keep Your law.

Tsadhe

137 (CD)Righteous are You, O Yahweh,
And upright are Your judgments.
138 In (CE)righteousness, You have commanded Your testimonies
And in exceeding (CF)faithfulness.
139 My (CG)zeal has [r]consumed me,
Because my adversaries have forgotten Your words.
140 Your [s](CH)word is exceedingly refined,
Therefore Your slave (CI)loves it.
141 I am small and (CJ)despised,
Yet I do not (CK)forget Your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And (CL)Your law is truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have found me,
Yet Your commandments are my (CM)delight.
144 Righteous are Your (CN)testimonies forever;
(CO)Give me understanding that I may live.

Qoph

145 I called (CP)with all my heart; answer me, O Yahweh!
I will (CQ)observe Your statutes.
146 I called to You; (CR)save me
And I shall keep Your testimonies.
147 I [t](CS)eagerly greet the dawn and cry for help;
I [u]wait for Your words.
148 My eyes [v]eagerly greet the (CT)night watches,
That I may (CU)muse on Your [w]word.
149 Hear my voice (CV)according to Your lovingkindness;
(CW)O Yahweh, revive me, according to Your judgments.
150 [x]Near are those who pursue wickedness;
They are far from Your law.
151 (CX)Near are You, O Yahweh,
And all Your commandments are (CY)truth.
152 Of old I have (CZ)known from Your testimonies
That You have founded them (DA)forever.

Resh

153 (DB)See my (DC)affliction and rescue me,
For I do not (DD)forget Your law.
154 (DE)Plead my cause and (DF)redeem me;
Revive me according to Your [y]word.
155 Salvation is (DG)far from the wicked,
For they (DH)do not seek Your statutes.
156 (DI)Many are Your [z]compassions, O Yahweh;
Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my (DJ)persecutors and my adversaries,
Yet I do not (DK)turn aside from Your testimonies.
158 I see the (DL)treacherous and (DM)loathe them,
Those who do not keep Your [aa]word.
159 See how I (DN)love Your precepts;
(DO)O Yahweh, revive me according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The (DP)sum of Your word is (DQ)truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments (DR)is everlasting.

Sin/Shin

161 (DS)Princes persecute me without cause,
But my heart (DT)is in dread of Your words.
162 I (DU)rejoice at Your [ab]word,
As one who (DV)finds much spoil.
163 I (DW)hate and abhor lying,
But I (DX)love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your (DY)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your law have (DZ)much peace,
And [ac](EA)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (EB)hope for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And I do Your commandments.
167 My (EC)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (ED)love them exceedingly.
168 I (EE)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (EF)ways are before You.

Tav

169 Let my (EG)cry of lamentation come near before You, O Yahweh;
(EH)Give me understanding (EI)according to Your word.
170 Let my (EJ)supplication come before You;
(EK)Deliver me according to Your [ad]word.
171 Let my (EL)lips pour forth praise,
For You (EM)teach me Your statutes.
172 Let my (EN)tongue answer with Your [ae]word,
For all Your (EO)commandments are righteous.
173 Let Your (EP)hand be [af]ready to help me,
For I have (EQ)chosen Your precepts.
174 I (ER)long for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And Your law is my (ES)delight.
175 Let my (ET)soul live that it may praise You,
And let Your judgments help me.
176 I have (EU)wandered off like a lost sheep; search for Your slave,
For I have (EV)not forgotten Your commandments.

1 Corinthians 8

Take Care with Your Liberty

Now concerning (A)things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have (B)knowledge. Knowledge (C)puffs up, but love (D)builds up. (E)If anyone thinks that he has known anything, he has not yet (F)known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he (G)has been known by Him.

Therefore, concerning the eating of (H)things sacrificed to idols, we know that [a]an idol is (I)nothing in the world, and that (J)there is no God but one. For even if (K)there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us (L)there is one God, (M)the Father, (N)from whom are all things and we exist for Him, and (O)one Lord, Jesus Christ, (P)by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

However, not all men (Q)have this knowledge; but (R)some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. But (S)food will not [b]commend us to God. We neither lack if we do not eat, nor abound if we do eat. But (T)see to it that this [c]authority of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the (U)weak. 10 For if someone sees you, who have (V)knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be built up to eat (W)things sacrificed to idols? 11 For through (X)your knowledge he who is weak (Y)is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died. 12 (Z)And in that way, by sinning against the brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin (AA)against Christ. 13 Therefore, (AB)if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again—ever, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.
