The Fifth Trumpet. The First Woe

9 And the fifth angel trumpeted, and I saw a star from heaven having fallen to the earth. And the key of the shaft of the abyss was given to him. ² And he opened the shaft of the abyss. And smoke went-up from the shaft like the smoke of a great furnace. And the sun and the air was darkened by the smoke of the shaft. ³ And locusts came out of the smoke to the earth. And authority was given to them as the scorpions of the earth have authority. ⁴ And it was told to them that they shall not harm the grass of the land, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. ⁵ And authority was given to them so that they might not kill them, but so that they will be tormented for five months. And their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a person. ⁶ And during those days the people will seek death, and will by no means find it; and they will desire to die, and death flees from them. ⁷ And the likenesses^[a] of the locusts were like horses having been prepared for battle. And on their heads were something like crowns resembling gold. And their faces were like faces of people^[b]. ⁸ And they had hair like the hair of women^[c]. And their teeth were like ones of lions. ⁹ And they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses running into battle. ¹⁰ And they have tails like scorpions, and stingers. And their authority to harm people for five months is in their tails. ¹¹ They have a king over them: the angel of the abyss. The name for him in Hebrew is Abaddon^[d]. And in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

¹² The first woe passed-away. Behold— two woes are still coming after these things.

The Sixth Trumpet. The Second Woe

¹³ And the sixth angel trumpeted.

Four Angels Are Released To Kill a Third of Mankind

And I heard one voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God ¹⁴ saying to the sixth angel, the one having the trumpet, “Release the four angels having been bound at the great river Euphrates”. ¹⁵ And the four angels were released, the ones having been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, in order that they might kill a third of mankind. ¹⁶ And the number of the troops of cavalry was two hundred million. I heard the number of them. ¹⁷ And I saw the horses and the ones sitting on them in the vision as follows— having^[e] breastplates [the color] of-fire and of-hyacinth^[f] and of-sulphur. And the heads of the horses are like heads of lions. And fire and smoke and sulphur is coming-out of their mouths. ¹⁸ A third of mankind were killed from these three plagues— by the fire and the smoke and the sulphur coming-out of their mouths. ¹⁹ For the authority of the horses is in their mouth and in their tails. For their tails are like snakes, having heads, and with them they do harm. ²⁰ And the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues, they did not-even repent from the works of their hands, so-that they will not worship demons and idols— the golden ones and the silver ones and the brass ones and the stone ones and the wooden ones— which are neither able to see, nor to hear, nor to walk. ²¹ And they did not repent from their murders, nor from their sorcerer’s-potions^[g], nor from their sexual-immorality, nor from their thefts.

An Angel With a Scroll Says The Mystery Will Be Finished With The Seventh Trumpet

10 And I saw another strong angel coming down from heaven, having been clothed-with a cloud. And the rainbow^[h] was over^[i] his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire. ² And he was holding^[j] in his hand an opened little-scroll. And he placed his right foot upon the sea and the left one upon the land, ³ and he cried-out with a loud voice— as indeed a lion roars. And when he cried-out, the seven thunders spoke their voices. ⁴ And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal the things which the seven thunders spoke, and do not write them”. ⁵ And the angel whom I saw standing upon the sea and upon the land lifted-up his right hand to heaven ⁶ and swore by the One living forever and ever— Who created the heaven and the things in it, and the land and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it— that there will be no more time^[k] [of delay]. ⁷ But during the days of the sound of the seventh angel, when he is about-to trumpet, the mystery of God was indeed finished^[l], as He announced-as-good-news-to His slaves, the prophets. ⁸ And the voice which I heard from heaven was again speaking with me, and saying “Go, take the opened scroll in the hand of the angel standing upon the sea and upon the land”. ⁹ And I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little-scroll. And he says to me, “Take, and eat^[m] it up. And it will make your stomach bitter. But in your mouth it will be sweet like honey”. ¹⁰ And I took the little-scroll out of the hand of the angel, and I ate it up. And it was like sweet honey in my mouth. And when I ate it, my stomach was made-bitter. ¹¹ And they^[n] say to me, “You must prophesy again for^[o] many peoples and nations and tongues and kings”.

Two Witnesses Prophesy And Torment The Earth For 1260 Days

11 And a measuring-rod resembling a staff was given^[p] to me, saying “Arise, and measure^[q] the temple^[r] of God, and the altar, and the ones worshiping in it. ² And put the court outside of the temple on-the-outside, and do not measure it, because it was given to the Gentiles^[s]. And they will trample the holy city for forty and two months. ³ And I will give authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for one-thousand two-hundred sixty days, having been clothed-with^[t] sackcloth. ⁴ These are the two olive-trees and the two lampstands standing in the presence of the Lord of the earth. ⁵ And if anyone is intending^[u] to harm them, fire comes-out of their mouth and devours their enemies. Indeed, if anyone should intend to harm them, in this manner he must be killed. ⁶ These ones have the authority to shut the heaven in-order-that no rain may fall for the days of ^[v] their prophecy. And they have authority over the waters— to be turning them into blood— and authority to strike the earth^[w] with every plague, as often as they may want. ⁷ And when they finish their testimony, the beast coming up out of the abyss will make war against them, and overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their corpse will be on the wide-road of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt— where also their Lord was crucified. ⁹ And some from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations look-at their corpse for three and a half days. And they do not permit their corpses to be put in a tomb. ¹⁰ And the ones dwelling upon the earth^[x] rejoice over them and celebrate. And they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented the ones dwelling upon the earth. ¹¹ And after the three and a half days, a breath^[y] of life from God entered in them, and they stood on their feet. And great fear fell upon the ones seeing them. ¹² And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come-up here”. And they went-up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them. ¹³ And at that hour a great earthquake took place, and a tenth of the city fell. And seven thousand names of people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest became terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven”.

¹⁴ The second woe passed-away. Behold— the third woe is coming quickly.

The Seventh Trumpet, The Third Woe

¹⁵ And the seventh angel trumpeted. And there came loud voices in heaven, saying “The kingdom of the world became^[z] the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. And He will reign forever and ever”. ¹⁶ And the twenty four elders sitting on their thrones in the presence of God fell on their faces and gave-worship to God, ¹⁷ saying “We give-thanks to You, Lord God Almighty, the One Who is and Who was^[aa], because You have taken Your great power, and You began to reign^[ab]. ¹⁸ And the nations became-angry. And Your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to give the reward to Your slaves the prophets, and the saints, and^[ac] the ones fearing Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy the ones destroying^[ad] the earth”.

Vision 3: The Three Signs In Heaven

¹⁹ And the temple of God in heaven was opened. And the ark of ^[ae] His covenant appeared in His temple. And there came lightnings^[af] and voices and thunders and an earthquake and a great hail.
