Mark 14:27-53

(A)[a]Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, (B)I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

But after that I am risen, I will go into (C)Galilee before you.

[b]And Peter said unto him, Although all men should be offended at thee, yet would not I.

Then Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, this day, even in this night before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

But he said [c]more earnestly, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee: likewise also said they all.

(D)[d]After, they came into a place named Gethsemane: then he said to his disciples, Sit ye here, till I have prayed.

And he took with him Peter, and James, and John, and he began to be troubled, and in great heaviness,

And said unto them, My soul is very heavy, even unto the death: tarry here, and watch.

So he went forward a little, and fell down on the ground, and prayed, that if it were possible, that hour might pass from him,

And he said, [e]Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee: take away this cup from me: nevertheless not that I will, but that thou wilt, be done.

[f]Then he came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

Watch ye, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh is weak.

And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

And he returned, and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy: neither knew they what they should answer him.

And he came the third time, and said unto them, Sleep henceforth, and take your rest: it is enough: the hour is come: behold, the Son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.

Rise up: let us go: lo, he that betrayeth me, is at hand.

(E)[g]And immediately while he yet spake, came Judas that was one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves from the high Priests, and Scribes, and Elders.

And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is: take him and lead him away [h]safely.

And as soon as he was come, he went straightway to him, and said, Hail Master, and kissed him.

Then they laid their hands on him, and took him.

And [i]one of them that stood by, drew out a sword, and smote a servant of the high Priest, and cut off his ear.

And Jesus answered, and said to them, Ye be come out as against a thief, with swords and with staves, to take me.

I was daily with you, teaching in the Temple, and ye took me not: but this is done that the Scriptures should be fulfilled.

Then they [j]all forsook him, and fled.

[k]And there followed him a certain young man, clothed in [l]linen upon his bare body, and the young men caught him.

But he left his linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

(F)So they led Jesus away to the high Priest, and to him came [m]together all the high Priests, and the Elders, and the Scribes.
