³¹ “Simon, Simon, behold, ^(A)Satan has ^[a]demanded to ^(B)sift all of you like wheat. ³² But I ^(C)have prayed earnestly for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, once you have returned, ^(D)strengthen your brothers.” ^33 (E)But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” ³⁴ And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”

³⁵ And He said to them, “^(F)When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Not a thing.” ³⁶ And He said to them, “But now, ^[b]whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and ^[c]whoever has no sword should sell his garment and buy one. ³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must be ^[d]completed in Me, ‘^(G)And He was numbered with transgressors’; for ^(H)that which refers to Me has its ^[e]completion.” ³⁸ And they said, “Lord, look, here are two ^(I)swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

^39 (J)And He came out and went ^(K)as was His custom to ^(L)the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him. ^40 (M)Now when He arrived at the place, He said to them, “^(N)Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” ⁴¹ And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He ^(O)knelt down and began to pray, ⁴² saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this ^(P)cup from Me, ^(Q)yet not My will, but Yours be done.” ^43 [f]Now an ^(R)angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. ⁴⁴ And ^(S)being in agony He was praying very fervently, and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. ⁴⁵ And when He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow, ⁴⁶ and said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise up and ^(T)pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
