M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
Blood for Atonement
17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord has commanded, saying, 3 “Any man from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or who slaughters it outside the camp, 4 and (A)has not brought it to the doorway of the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to the Lord before the [a]tabernacle of the Lord, bloodguiltiness is to be reckoned to that man. He has shed blood and that man shall be cut off from among his people. 5 [b]The reason is so that the sons of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they were sacrificing in the open field, that they may bring them in to the Lord, at the doorway of the tent of meeting to the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the Lord. 6 The priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and (B)offer up the fat in smoke as a soothing aroma to the Lord. 7 (C)They shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the [c]goat demons with which they play the harlot. This shall be a permanent statute to them throughout their generations.”’
8 “Then you shall say to them, ‘Any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, 9 and (D)does not bring it to the doorway of the tent of meeting to [d]offer it to the Lord, that man also shall be cut off from his people.
10 ‘(E)And any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who eats any blood, (F)I will set My face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. 11 For (G)the [e]life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for (H)it is the blood by reason of the [f]life that makes atonement.’ 12 Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘No person among you may eat blood, nor may any alien who sojourns among you eat blood.’ 13 So when any man from the sons of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, [g]in hunting catches a beast or a bird which may be eaten, (I)he shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
14 “(J)For as for the [h]life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its [i]life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, ‘You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the [j]life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’ 15 (K)When any person eats an animal which dies or is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or an alien, he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and remain unclean until evening; then he will become clean. 16 But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then (L)he shall bear his [k]guilt.”
Prayer for Victory over Enemies.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
20 May the Lord answer you (A)in the day of trouble!
May the (B)name of the (C)God of Jacob set you securely on high!
2 May He send you help (D)from the sanctuary
And (E)support you from Zion!
3 May He (F)remember all your meal offerings
And (G)find your burnt offering [a]acceptable! [b]Selah.
4 May He grant you your (H)heart’s desire
And (I)fulfill all your [c]counsel!
5 [d]We will (J)sing for joy over your [e]victory,
And in the name of our God we will (K)set up our banners.
May the Lord (L)fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now (M)I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will (N)answer him from His holy heaven
With the [f](O)saving strength of His right hand.
7 Some [g]boast in chariots and some in (P)horses,
But (Q)we [h]will boast in the name of the Lord, our God.
8 They have (R)bowed down and fallen,
But we have (S)risen and stood upright.
9 [i](T)Save, O Lord;
May the (U)King answer us in the day we call.
Praise for Deliverance.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
21 O Lord, in Your strength the king will (V)be glad,
And in Your [j]salvation how greatly he will rejoice!
2 You have (W)given him his heart’s desire,
And You have not withheld the request of his lips. [k]Selah.
3 For You (X)meet him with the blessings of good things;
You set a (Y)crown of fine gold on his head.
4 He asked life of You,
You (Z)gave it to him,
(AA)Length of days forever and ever.
5 His (AB)glory is great through Your [l]salvation,
(AC)Splendor and majesty You place upon him.
6 For You make him [m]most (AD)blessed forever;
You make him joyful (AE)with gladness in Your presence.
7 For the king (AF)trusts in the Lord,
And through the lovingkindness of the Most High (AG)he will not be shaken.
8 Your hand will (AH)find out all your enemies;
Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 You will make them (AI)as a fiery oven in the time [n]of your anger;
The Lord will (AJ)swallow them up in His wrath,
And (AK)fire will devour them.
10 Their [o]offspring You will destroy from the earth,
And their [p](AL)descendants from among the sons of men.
11 Though they [q](AM)intended evil against You
And (AN)devised a plot,
They will not succeed.
12 For You will (AO)make them turn their back;
You will [r]aim (AP)with Your bowstrings at their faces.
13 Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength;
We will (AQ)sing and praise Your power.
The Words of Lemuel
31 The words of King Lemuel, the [a]oracle which his mother taught him:
2 What, O my son?
And what, O (A)son of my womb?
And what, O son of my (B)vows?
3 (C)Do not give your strength to women,
Or your ways to that which (D)destroys kings.
4 It is not for (E)kings, O Lemuel,
It is not for kings to (F)drink wine,
Or for rulers to desire strong drink,
5 For they will drink and forget what is decreed,
And (G)pervert the [b]rights of all the [c]afflicted.
6 Give strong drink to him who is (H)perishing,
And wine to him [d](I)whose life is bitter.
7 Let him drink and forget his poverty
And remember his trouble no more.
8 (J)Open your mouth for the mute,
For the [e]rights of all the [f]unfortunate.
9 Open your mouth, (K)judge righteously,
And [g]defend the (L)rights of the afflicted and needy.
Description of a Worthy Woman
10 An (M)excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far (N)above jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She looks for wool and flax
And works with her [h]hands [i]in delight.
14 She is like (O)merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
15 She (P)rises also while it is still night
And (Q)gives food to her household
And [j]portions to her maidens.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From [k]her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She (R)girds [l]herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
18 She senses that her gain is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her [m]hands grasp the spindle.
20 She [n](S)extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are (T)clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes (U)coverings for herself;
Her clothing is (V)fine linen and (W)purple.
23 Her husband is known (X)in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes (Y)linen garments and sells them,
And [o]supplies belts to the [p]tradesmen.
25 Strength and (Z)dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the [q]future.
26 She (AA)opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the [r]teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the (AB)bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29 “Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who [s](AC)fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her the [t]product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
A Call to Prayer
2 First of all, then, I urge that (A)entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 (B)for kings and all who are in [a]authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and [b]dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of (C)God our Savior, 4 (D)who desires all men to be (E)saved and to (F)come to the [c]knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is (G)one God, and (H)one mediator also between God and men, the (I)man Christ Jesus, 6 who (J)gave Himself as a ransom for all, the (K)testimony [d]given at [e](L)the proper time. 7 (M)For this I was appointed a [f]preacher and (N)an apostle ((O)I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of (P)the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Therefore (Q)I want the men (R)in every place to pray, (S)lifting up (T)holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
Women Instructed
9 Likewise, I want (U)women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, [g]modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, 10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. 11 (V)A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. 12 (W)But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13 (X)For it was Adam who was first [h]created, and then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but (Y)the woman being deceived, [i]fell into transgression. 15 But women will be [j]preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in (Z)faith and love and sanctity with [k]self-restraint.
