33 And the Lord said unto Moses, “Depart and go up hence, thou and the people whom thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I swore unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘Unto thy seed will I give it.’
2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite”
3 unto a land flowing with milk and honey. For I will not go up in the midst of thee, for thou art a stiffnecked people, lest I consume thee on the way.”
4 And when the people heard these evil tidings they mourned, and no man put on his ornaments.
5 For the Lord had said unto Moses, “Say unto the children of Israel, ‘Ye are a stiffnecked people. I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment and consume thee. Therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.’”
6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by Mount Horeb.
7 And Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it outside the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass that every one who sought the Lord went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was outside the camp.
8 And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
10 And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door; and all the people rose up and worshiped, every man in his tent door.
11 And the Lord spoke unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he returned again into the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
12 And Moses said unto the Lord, “See, Thou sayest unto me, ‘Bring up this people,’ and Thou hast not let me know whom Thou wilt send with me. Yet Thou hast said, ‘I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in My sight.’
13 Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in Thy sight; and consider that this nation is Thy people.”
14 And He said, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
15 And he said unto Him, “If Thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and Thy people have found grace in Thy sight? Is it not in that Thou goest with us? So shall we be separated, I and Thy people, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
17 And the Lord said unto Moses, “I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found grace in My sight, and I know thee by name.”
18 And he said, “I beseech Thee, show me Thy glory.”
19 And He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before thee; and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee, and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”
20 And He said, “Thou canst not see My face, for there shall no man see Me and live.”
21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock.
22 And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand while I pass by;
23 and I will take away Mine hand, and thou shalt see My back parts, but My face shall not be seen.”
12 Then Jesus, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany where Lazarus was, who had been dead and whom He had raised from the dead.
2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him.
3 Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.
4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son who was to betray Him, said,
5 “Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?”
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money bag and took what was put therein.
7 Then Jesus said, “Let her alone; against the day of My burying hath she kept this.
8 For the poor always ye have with you, but Me ye have not always.”
9 Many people of the Jews therefore knew that He was there. And they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom He had raised from the dead.
10 But the chief priests consulted, that they might put Lazarus also to death,
11 because by reason of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.
12 On the next day many people who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet Him and cried, “Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord!”
14 And Jesus, when He had found a young ass, sat thereon, as it is written:
15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.”
16 These things His disciples understood not at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things unto Him.
17 The people therefore who were with Him, when He called Lazarus out of his grave and raised him from the dead, bore record.
18 For this cause the people also met Him, for they heard that He had done this miracle.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “Perceive ye how ye prevail not at all? Behold, the world has gone after him!”
20 And there were certain Greeks among them, who came up to worship at the feast.
21 They came therefore to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we would see Jesus.”
22 Philip went and told Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour is come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily I say unto you, unless a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it, and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be. If any man serve Me, him will My Father honor.
27 “Now is My soul troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this cause came I unto this hour.
28 Father, glorify Thy name.” Then there came a voice from Heaven, saying, “I Have Both Glorified It, And Will Glorify It Again.”
29 The people therefore who stood by and heard it said that it thundered. Others said, “An angel spoke to him.”
30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice came not because of Me, but for your sakes.
31 Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.”
33 This He said, signifying what death He should die.
34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that Christ abideth for ever; and how sayest thou, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this son of man?”
35 Then Jesus said unto them, “Yet a little while is the Light with you. Walk while ye have the Light, lest darkness come upon you; for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have Light, believe in the Light, that ye may be the children of Light.” These things spoke Jesus, and departed and hid Himself from them.
37 But though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not in Him,
38 that the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 Therefore they could not believe, because as Isaiah said again:
40 “He hath blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.”
41 These things said Isaiah when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
42 Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also, many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Jesus cried out and said, “He that believeth in Me, believeth not in Me, but in Him that sent Me.
45 And he that seeth Me, seeth Him that sent Me.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth in Me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear My words and believe not, I judge him not; for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth Me and receiveth not My words, hath One that judgeth him; the Word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the Last Day.
49 For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father who sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.
50 And I know that His commandment is life everlasting. Whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak.”
9 Wisdom hath built her house; she hath hewn out her seven pillars.
2 She hath killed her beasts, she hath mingled her wine, she hath also furnished her table.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens, she crieth from the highest places of the city:
4 “Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither!” As for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him:
5 “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine which I have mixed.
6 Forsake the foolish and live, and go in the way of understanding.”
7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth for himself shame, and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a reproach.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself; but if thou be a scorner, thou alone shall bear it.
13 A foolish woman is clamorous; she is simple and knoweth nothing.
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 to call passers by who go rightly on their ways:
16 “Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither.” And as for him that lacketh understanding, she saith to him,
17 “Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there, and that her guests are in the depths of hell. The proverbs of Solomon:
2 And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 wherein in times past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.
3 Among these also we all had our manner of living in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love wherewith He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ (by grace ye are saved),
6 and hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath beforehand ordained, that we should walk in them.
11 Therefore, remember that ye, being in times past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by those who are called the Circumcision in the flesh so made by hands—
12 remember that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus, ye who once were far off have been brought nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us,
15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might make in Himself one new man out of the two, so making peace,
16 and that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.
17 He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were nigh;
18 for through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore, ye are strangers and foreigners no more, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
20 Ye are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
21 in whom all the building, fitly framed together, groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in Whom ye also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.
