Numbers 36

36 ¶ And the princes of the fathers of the families of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the princes, the heads of the fathers of the sons of Israel,

and they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the sons of Israel; and my lord was also commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad, our brother unto his daughters.

And if they become married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the sons of Israel, then their inheritance shall be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe unto which they are received; so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

And when the jubilee of the sons of Israel shall come, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe unto which they are received; so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

¶ Then Moses commanded the sons of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken well.

This is the thing which the LORD commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry as they desire; but they shall marry only within the family of the tribe of their father

so that the inheritance of the sons of Israel shall not be passed from tribe to tribe; for each one of the sons of Israel shall cleave to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

And any daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the sons of Israel, shall marry one of the family of the tribe of her father so that each man of the sons of Israel may possess the inheritance of his fathers.

So that the inheritance shall not change from one tribe to another tribe, each one of the tribes of the sons of Israel shall cleave to his own inheritance.

10 As the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad.

11 And thus Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married the sons of their uncles.

12 They were women of the family of the sons of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

13 These are the commandments and the rights which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho.

Psalm 80

To the Overcomer upon Shoshannim, {lilies} A testimony of Asaph: A Psalm.

¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.

In the presence of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength and come and save us.

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

O LORD God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure.

Thou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.

Turn us again, O God of the hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

¶ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt; thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it.

Thou didst prepare room before it and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the earth.

10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and its boughs were like the cedars of God.

11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea and her branches unto the river.

12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way pluck her?

13 The boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine

15 and the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself.

16 It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself,

18 so we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O LORD God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Isaiah 28

28 ¶ Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim and to the open flower of the beauty of their glory which is upon the head of the fertile valley of those that are overcome with wine!

Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one who as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

And the fading flower of the beauty of their glory, which is upon the head of the fertile valley, shall be as the early fig, which comes first before the other fruits of the summer; which when he that looks upon it sees it; as soon as he has it in his hand, he eats it up.

In that day the LORD of the hosts shall be for a crown of glory and for a diadem of beauty unto the residue of his people,

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits upon the throne of judgment, and for strength to those that turn the battle to the gate.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink; they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Those that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue he will speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest with which ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the LORD shall be unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go and fall backward and be broken and snared and taken.

14 ¶ Therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that have taken rule over this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we are at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood we have hid ourselves:

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the line and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19 From the time that it goes forth, it shall take you: for it shall come suddenly, by day and by night: and it shall be that the terror only causes one to understand the report.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore do not be mockers lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of the hosts that consumption and destruction are determined upon the whole earth.

23 ¶ Give ye ear and hear my voice; hearken and hear my speech.

24 Does the plowman plow all day to sow? does he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he has levelled the face thereof, does he not cast abroad the fitches and scatter the cummin and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rye in their place?

26 For his God teaches him to know how to judge and instructs him.

27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff and the cummin with a rod.

28 Grain is thrashed to make bread; but he will not ever be threshing it, nor shall he grind it with the wheel of his cart, nor crush it with the teeth of his thrashing instrument.

29 This also comes forth from the LORD of the hosts to make his counsel wonderful, and to increase wisdom.

2 John

¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

for the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

Grace be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

I have rejoiced greatly, for I have found of thy sons that they walk in the truth, as we have received the commandment from the Father.

¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, (not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning) that we love one another.

And this is charity, that we walk after his commandment. And this is the commandment, That ye walk in him, as ye have heard from the beginning.

¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

Look to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

10 ¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

11 For he that says unto him, Welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.

12 ¶ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

13 The sons of thy chosen sister greet thee. Amen.
