M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
4 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
2 Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the houses of their fathers,
3 from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do work in the tabernacle of the testimony.
4 This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the testimony, in the holy of holies:
5 When the camp is to be moved, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering veil and cover the ark of testimony with it
6 and shall put thereon the covering of badgers’ skins and shall spread over it a cloth entirely of blue and shall put in the staves thereof.
7 And upon the table of showbread they shall spread a cloth of blue and put thereon the dishes and the spoons and the bowls and covers to cover withal; and the continual bread shall be thereon.
8 And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skins and shall put in the staves thereof.
9 And they shall take a cloth of blue and cover the lampstand of the light and its lamps and its tongs and its snuffdishes and all the oil vessels thereof with which they minister unto it;
10 and they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers’ skins and shall put it upon a bar.
11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue and cover it with a covering of badgers’ skins and shall put in the staves thereof;
12 and they shall take all the vessels of ministry with which they minister in the sanctuary and put them in a cloth of blue and cover them with a covering of badgers’ skins and shall put them on a bar.
13 And they shall take away the ashes with the burnt fat from the altar and spread a purple cloth thereon
14 and they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof with which they minister about it: the censers, the fleshhooks, the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers’ skins and put in the staves of it.
15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary and all the vessels of the sanctuary when the camp is to set forward, after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it, but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the testimony.
16 But unto the care of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, shall be the oil of the light and the aromatic incense and the daily present and the anointing oil and the care of all the tabernacle and of all that is therein, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.
17 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
18 Ye shall not cut off the tribe of the families of Kohath from among the Levites,
19 but thus do unto them that they may live, and not die, when they approach unto the holy of holies: Aaron and his sons shall come and place each one of them in his ministry and to his burden.
20 They shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
21 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
22 Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the houses of their fathers, by their families;
23 from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them, all that enter in to the host to do work in the tabernacle of the testimony.
24 This shall be the service of the families of Gershon, to minister and to bear burdens:
25 They shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle and the tabernacle of the testimony, its covering, and the covering of badgers’ skins that is over it above and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the testimony
26 and the hangings of the court and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords and all the instruments of their service and all that is made for them; so shall they serve.
27 According to the word of Aaron and his sons shall be all the ministry of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens and in all their service; and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their burdens.
28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the testimony, and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.
29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the houses of their fathers.
30 From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old shalt thou number them, all that enters into the host, to do work in the tabernacle of the testimony.
31 And this shall be the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the testimony: the boards of the tabernacle and the bars thereof and the pillars thereof and sockets thereof,
32 and the pillars of the court round about and their sockets and their stakes and their cords with all their instruments and with all their service; and ye shall number by name the vessels of the charge of their burden.
33 This shall be the service of the families of the sons of Merari for all their ministry, in the tabernacle of the testimony, under the hand of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.
34 ¶ So Moses and Aaron and the princes of the congregation numbered the sons of Kohath after their families and after the houses of their fathers,
35 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to minister in the tabernacle of the testimony.
36 And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.
37 These were the numbered of the families of Kohath, all that minister in the tabernacle of the testimony, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
38 And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families and by the houses of their fathers,
39 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to minister in the tabernacle of the testimony,
40 those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the houses of their fathers, were two thousand six hundred and thirty.
41 These were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, all that minister in the tabernacle of the testimony, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD.
42 And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the houses of their fathers,
43 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to minister in the tabernacle of the testimony,
44 those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand two hundred.
45 These were those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel numbered, after their families and after the houses of their fathers,
47 from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entered in to serve in the service and to bear a burden in the tabernacle of the testimony,
48 those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand five hundred and eighty.
49 As the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, they were numbered, each one according to his ministry and according to his burden; thus were they numbered of Moses, as the LORD commanded him.
A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.
1 ¶ O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presses me sore.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease, and there is no soundness in my flesh.
8 I am feeble and sore broken; I roar by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
9 Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hid from thee.
10 My heart pants, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
11 My friends and my companions stand aloof from my sore, and my kinsmen stand afar off.
12 ¶ Those that seek after my life lay snares for me, and those that seek my hurt speak calamities and imagine deceits all the day long.
13 But I, as a deaf man heard not, and was as a dumb man that did not open his mouth.
14 Thus I was as a man that does not hear, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15 For thee, O LORD, do I wait; thou wilt respond, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, Let them not rejoice over me; let them not magnify themselves against me when my foot slips.
17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
18 Therefore I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
19 For my enemies are alive, and they are strong, and those that hate me wrongfully are multiplied;
20 rendering evil for good they are against me because I follow that which is good.
21 Forsake me not, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me.
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
2 ¶ I am the lily of the field {Heb. Sharon} and the rose of the valleys.
2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the virgins.
3 ¶ As the apple tree among the trees of the wild, so is my beloved among the sons. I desired to sit under his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
4 He brought me to the wine chamber and placed his banner of love over me.
5 Sustain me with flagons of wine, strengthen me with apples; for I am sick with love.
6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me.
7 I charge you, O ye virgins of Jerusalem, by the roes and by the hinds of the field that ye not awake nor stir up love, until he pleases.
8 ¶ The voice of my beloved! behold, he comes leaping over the mountains, skipping over the hills.
9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart; behold, he stands behind our wall; he looks through the windows, blossoming through the lattice.
10 My beloved spoke and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
11 For, behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone;
12 the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the song is come, and the voice of the turtle dove has been heard in our land;
13 the fig tree has put forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
14 ¶ O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is beautiful.
15 Hunt the foxes for us, the little foxes, that spoil the vines; for our vines are in blossom.
16 My beloved is mine, and I am his; he feeds among the lilies.
17 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, return, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.
2 ¶ Therefore, it is necessary that we with more diligence keep the things which we have heard, so that we do not fall.
2 For if the word spoken by the ministry of angels was steadfast and every rebellion and disobedience received a just recompense of reward,
3 how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him,
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders and with diverse miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, distributing them according to his own will.
5 ¶ For unto the angels he has not subjected the world to come, of which we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou dost visit him?
7 Thou didst make him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour and didst set him over the works of thy hands.
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not see yet that all things are put under him.
9 But we see this same Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 ¶ For it was expedient that he, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, preparing to bring forth many sons in his glory, should perfect the author of their saving health through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me.
14 ¶ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil,
15 and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery.
16 For verily he did not take the angels, but he took the seed of Abraham.
17 Therefore in all things he should be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself has suffered and was tempted, he is also powerful to help those that are tempted.
