40 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 In the day of the first month, the first of the month shalt thou set up the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony.
3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony and cover the ark with the veil.
4 And thou shalt bring in the table and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it, and thou shalt bring in the lampstand and light its lamps.
5 And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.
6 Then thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle, of the tabernacle of the testimony.
7 And thou shalt set the laver between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar and shalt put water therein.
8 Last, thou shalt set up the court round about and hang up the hanging at the court gate.
9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it and shalt sanctify it with all its vessels, and it shall be holy.
10 And thou shalt also anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its vessels and sanctify the altar, and it shall be an altar most holy.
11 In the same manner thou shalt anoint the laver and its base and sanctify it.
12 And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony and wash them with water.
13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments and anoint him and sanctify him, that he may be my priest.
14 And thou shalt bring his sons and clothe them with coats.
15 And thou shalt anoint them as thou didst anoint their father, and they shall be my priests; and it shall be that their anointing shall be unto them for a perpetual priesthood throughout their generations.
16 ¶ Thus did Moses; according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.
17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year on the first day of the month that the tabernacle was raised up.
18 And Moses caused the tabernacle to be raised up and fastened its sockets and set up its boards and put in its bars and caused its pillars to be raised up.
19 And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent above upon it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark and set the staves on the ark and put the seat of reconciliation upon the ark above,
21 and he brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the curtain and covered the ark of the testimony, as the LORD commanded Moses.
22 And he put the table in the tabernacle of the testimony, upon the side of the Aquilon of the tabernacle, outside the veil.
23 And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
24 And he put the lampstand in the tabernacle of the testimony, over against the table, on the side of the Negev of the tabernacle.
25 And he lighted the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
26 He also put the golden altar in the tabernacle of the testimony before the veil.
27 And he burnt aromatic incense on it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
28 In the same manner he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle.
29 And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle, of the tabernacle of the testimony, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the present, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
30 And he set the laver between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar and put water in it, to wash with.
31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons would wash their hands and their feet in it.
32 When they would enter into the tabernacle of the testimony and when they would come near unto the altar, they washed themselves, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
33 Last he raised up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar and set up the hanging of the court gate. Thus Moses finished the work.
34 ¶ Then a cloud covered the tabernacle of the testimony, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tabernacle of the testimony because the cloud was upon it, and the glory of the LORD had it full.
36 And when the cloud lifted itself up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel went onward in all their journeys;
37 but if the cloud did not lift itself up, then they did not journey until the day that it lifted itself up.
38 For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and the fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
19 ¶ Then Pilate, therefore, took Jesus and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him
3 and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again and said unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then Jesus came forth, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said unto them, Behold the man!
6 When the princes of the priests and the servants saw him, they cried out, saying, crucify him, crucify him. {Gr. stauroo – hang him on a stake} Pilate said unto them, Take him, and crucify him, for I find no fault in him.
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die because he made himself the Son of God.
8 Therefore when Pilate heard that word, he was the more afraid
9 and went again into the judgment hall and said unto Jesus, Where art thou from? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 Then Pilate said unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee {Gr. stauroo – hang thee on a stake} and have power to release thee?
11 Jesus answered, Thou could have no power at all against me, unless it were given thee from above; therefore he that delivered me unto thee has the greater sin.
12 And from then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend; whosoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.
13 Therefore when Pilate heard that word, he brought Jesus forth and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the passover and about the sixth hour; then he said unto the Jews, Behold your King!
15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The high priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
16 ¶ So that then, he delivered him unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus and led him away.
17 And he, bearing his cross, {Gr. stauros – stake} went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha,
18 where they crucified him and two others with him, one on either side and Jesus in the middle.
19 ¶ And Pilate also wrote a title and put it above the cross. {Gr. stauros – stake} And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20 And many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near to the city; and it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin.
21 Then the high priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews, but that he said, I AM King of the Jews.
22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts (to each soldier a part); and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, They parted my garments among them, and for my raiment they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
25 Now there stood by the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} of Jesus his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then he said to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar, and they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it upon hyssop and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished, and he bowed his head and gave up the Spirit.
31 ¶ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} on the sabbath day (for that sabbath day was a high day) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who were crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they did not break his legs,
34 but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith blood and water came out.
35 And he that saw it gives testimony, and his testimony is true, and he knows that he says the truth, that ye also might believe.
36 For these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38 ¶ After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus.
39 Then Nicodemus came also, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about one hundred pounds.
40 And they took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which no one had yet been laid.
42 Therefore they laid Jesus there because of the Jews’ preparation day, for the sepulchre was near.
16 ¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 ¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.
3 ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 ¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 ¶ Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; the covenant that he makes, shall not be without chastening.
6 ¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 ¶ When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 ¶ Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.
9 ¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
10 ¶ A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.
11 ¶ A just weight and balance are the LORD’s; all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 ¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.
13 ¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.
14 ¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.
15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 ¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!
17 ¶ The highway of the upright is to separate himself from evil; he that keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 ¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 ¶ It is better to humble your spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 ¶ He who has understanding in the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
21 ¶ The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips shall increase doctrine.
22 ¶ Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 ¶ The heart of the wise causes his mouth to be prudent, and with his lips he shall increase doctrine.
24 ¶ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and medicine to the bones.
25 ¶ There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 ¶ The soul of him that labours, labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.
27 ¶ The man of Belial digs in search of evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 The perverse man sows strife, and the tale bearer separates princes.
29 ¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.
30 He shuts his eyes to devise perverse things; moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
31 ¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.
32 ¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
33 ¶ The lot is cast into the lap, but the judgment thereof is of the LORD.
3 ¶ It remains, my brethren, that ye rejoice in the Lord. It does not bother me to write the same things to you, and for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3 For we are the circumcision, who serve God in spirit and glory in Christ Jesus, having no confidence in the flesh.
4 ¶ Though I might also have reason to confide in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the lineage of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;
6 concerning zeal, a persecutor of the congregation; {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But those things which were gain to me, I counted loss for Christ.
8 And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ
9 ¶ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death,
11 if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained it, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if I may lay hold of that for which I have also been laid hold of by the Christ, Jesus.
13 Brethren, I do not reckon to have laid hold of it yet, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and extending myself unto those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 ¶ Let us, therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded; and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16 Nevertheless, in that unto which we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us have the same mind.
17 ¶ Brethren, be imitators of me and consider those who so walk, as ye have us for a pattern.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} of Christ;
19 whose end shall be perdition, whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things).
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall transform our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is also able to subdue all things unto himself.
