2 Chronicles 34

34 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign. And he reigned in Jerusalem for thirty-one years.

And he did uprightly in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and bowed neither to the right nor to the left.

And in the eighth year of his reign (when he was still a child) he began to seek after the God of David, his father. And in the twelfth year, he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places and the groves and the carved images and molten images.

And they broke down the altars of Baal in his sight. And he had the images that were high upon them cut down. He also broke the groves and the carved images and the molten images and stamped them to powder and scattered it upon the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

Also, he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem

and the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, up to Naphtali, with their axes, all around.

And when he had destroyed the altars and the groves and had broken and stamped the images into powder and had cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

Then in the eighteenth year of his reign, after he had purged the land and the temple, he sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah, the governor of the city, and Joah, the son of Joahaz the Recorder, to repair the House of the LORD his God.

And when they came to Hilkiah, the High Priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the House of God, which the Levites who kept the door had gathered at the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim and of all the rest of Israel and of all Judah and Benjamin and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 And they put it in the hands of those who would do the work and had the oversight in the House of the LORD. And they gave it to the workmen who labored in the House of the LORD to repair and restore the House.

11 They even gave it to the workmen and to the builders to buy hewn stone and timber for couplings and for beams of the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

12 And the men did the work faithfully. And their overseers were Jahath and Obadiah (Levites, of the children of Merari) and Zechariah and Meshullam (of the children of the Kohathites) to set it forward. And other Levites, all of whom were skilled with instruments of music,

13 were over the bearers of burdens, and those who set forward all the workmen in every work. And of the Levites were scribes and officers and gatekeepers.

14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the House of the LORD, Hilkiah the Priest found the Book of the Law of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

15 Therefore, Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan, the chancellor, “I have found the Book of the Law in the House of the LORD.” And Hilkiah gave the Book to Shaphan.

16 And Shaphan carried the Book to the king and brought the king word back, saying, “All that is committed to the hand of your servants they are doing.

17 “For they have gathered the money that was found in the House of the LORD and have delivered it into the hands of the overseers and to the hands of the workmen.”

18 Also, Shaphan the chancellor declared to the king, saying, “Hilkiah the Priest has given me a Book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

19 And when the king heard the Words of the Law, he tore his clothes.

20 And the king commanded Hilkiah and Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and Abdon, the son of Micah, and Shaphan the chancellor, and Asaiah, the king’s servant, saying,

21 “Go! Inquire of the LORD for me and for the rest in Israel and Judah concerning the Words of this Book that is found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that has fallen upon us because our fathers have not kept the Word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this Book.”

22 Then Hilkiah, and those whom the king had appointed, went to Huldah the Prophetess, the wife of Shallum, the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (she dwelt in Jerusalem within the college) and they spoke of this with her.

23 And she answered them, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,

24 “Thus says the LORD: ‘Behold, I will bring misery upon this place, and upon its inhabitants, all the curses that are written in the Book which they have read before the king of Judah.

25 ‘Because they have forsaken Me and burnt incense to other gods, to anger Me with all the works of their hands, therefore shall My wrath fall upon this place and shall not be quenched.’”’

26 “But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, so shall you say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel regarding the Words which you have heard:

27 “Because your heart melted, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard His Words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and humbled yourself before Me, and tore your clothes, and wept before Me, I have also heard it,” says the LORD.’

28 “Behold, I will gather you to your fathers. And you shall be put in your grave in peace. And your eyes shall not see all the misery which I will bring upon this place and upon the inhabitants of the same.”’” Thus, they brought back Word to the king.

29 Then the king sent and gathered all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30 And the king went up into the House of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests and the Levites, and all the people from the greatest to the smallest. And he read in their ears all the Words of the Book of the Covenant that were found in the House of the LORD.

31 And the king stood by his pillar and made a Covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep His Commandments, and His Testimonies, and His Statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, so that he would accomplish the Words of the Covenant written in the same Book.

32 And he made all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin stand firm in it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the Covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

33 So, Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that belonged to the children of Israel, and compelled all who were found in Israel to serve the LORD their God. So in all his days, they did not turn back from the LORD God of their fathers.

Revelation 20

20 And I saw an angel come down from Heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

And he took the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan. And he bound him for a thousand years;

and cast him into the bottomless pit. And he shut him up and sealed the door upon him - so that he would deceive the people no more - till the thousand years were completed. For after that, he must be let loose for a little season.

And I saw thrones. And they sat upon them. And judgment was given them. And I saw the souls of those who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and who did not worship the beast or his image. Nor had they taken his mark upon their foreheads, nor on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

But the rest of the dead shall not live again until the thousand years are finished. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he who takes part in the first resurrection. For over such, the second death has no power. But they shall be the priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And when the thousand years are over, Satan shall be let loose from his prison,

and shall go out to deceive the people who are in the four quarters of the Earth - even Gog and Magog - to gather them together to battle whose number is as the sand of the sea.

And they marched across the breadth of the Earth. And they surrounded the tents of the saints, and the beloved city. But fire came down from God, out of Heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil, who deceived them, was cast into a lake of fire and brimstone - where the beast and the false prophet are - and shall be tormented, day and night, for evermore.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and One who sat on it; from Whose face fled away both the Earth and Heaven, and their place was found no more.

12 And I saw the dead, both great and small, stand before God. And the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged for those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in her. And death and Hell delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one of them, according to their works.

14 And death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.

15 And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life, was cast into the Lake of Fire.

Malachi 2

“And now, O you priests, this Commandment is for you.

“If you will not hear it, or consider it in your heart, to give glory to My Name,” says the LORD of Hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, and will curse your blessings. Yea, I have cursed them already, because you do not consider it in your heart.

“Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and cast dung upon your faces, the dung of your solemn Feasts. And you shall be like it.

“And you shall know that I have sent this Commandment to you, so that My Covenant which I made with Levi might stand,” says the LORD of Hosts.

“My Covenant was with him, one of life and peace. And I gave him fear. And he feared Me and was afraid before My Name.

“The Law of Truth was in his mouth and there was no iniquity found in his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness and turned many away from iniquity.

“For the priest’s lips should preserve knowledge. And they should seek the Law from his mouth. For he is the messenger of the LORD of Hosts.

“But you have gone out of the way. You have caused many to fall by the Law. You have broken the Covenant of Levi,” says the LORD of Hosts.

“Therefore, I have also made you despised and vile before all the people, because you did not keep My ways, but have been partial in the Law.”

10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God made us? Why do we transgress, each one against his brother, and break the Covenant of our fathers?

11 Judah has transgressed. And an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Israel has defiled the holiness of the LORD, which He loves, and has married the daughter of a strange god.

12 The LORD will cut off the man who does this—the master and the servant—out of the Tabernacle of Jacob and he who offers an offering to the LORD of Hosts.

13 And this you have done again, and covered the Altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping and with mourning. Because the offering is no longer regarded. Nor is it received acceptably from your hands.

14 Yet you say, “Why?” Because the LORD has been Witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have transgressed. She still is your companion and the wife of your covenant.

15 And did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit. And why one? Because He sought a godly seed. Therefore, keep yourselves in your spirit. And let no one trespass against the wife of his youth.

16 “For I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and he who covers the injury under his garment,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Therefore, keep yourselves in your spirit, and do not transgress.”

17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet, you say “How have we wearied him?” When you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD. And He delights in them.” Or “Where is the God of judgment?”

John 19

19 Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.

And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head. And they put a purple garment on Him,

and said, “Hail King of the Jews!” And they struck Him.

Then Pilate went forth again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring Him out to you, so that you may know that I find no fault in Him at all!”

Then Jesus came forth, wearing a crown of thorns and a purple garment. And Pilate said to them, “Behold the Man!”

Then, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried, saying, “Crucify, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him and crucify Him! For I find no fault in Him!”

The Jews answered Him, “We have a law! And by our law, He ought to die. Because He made himself the Son of God!”

Then, when Pilate heard that word, he was all the more afraid,

and again went into the common hall and said to Jesus, “From where do You come?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

10 Then Pilate said to Him, “Will You not speak to me? Don’t you know that I have power to crucify You, and have power to free You?

11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it were given to you from above. Therefore, the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.

12 From then on, Pilate sought to free Him. But the Jews cried, saying, “If you release Him, you are not a friend of Caesar’s! For whoever makes himself a king, speaks against Caesar!”

13 When Pilate heard this word, he brought Jesus forth and sat down in the judgment seat (in a place called the Stone Pavement; and in Hebrew, Gabbatha).

14 And it was the Day of Preparation of the Passover, about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King.”

15 But they cried, “Away with Him! Away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

16 Then he delivered Him to them, to be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him away.

17 And He bore His own cross and came to a place named for dead men’s skulls (which is called in Hebrew ‘Golgotha’),

18 where they crucified Him and two others with Him (one on either side and Jesus in between).

19 And Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the cross. And on it was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS”.

20 Then, many of the Jews read this title. For the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. And it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

21 Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews’; but that He said, ‘I am the King of the Jews’.”

22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and His coat and made them into four parts - to every soldier a part. And the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 Therefore, they said one to another, “Let us not divide it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be.” This was so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted My garments among them, and on My coat they cast lots.” So indeed, the soldiers did these things.

25 Then His mother stood by the cross of Jesus, and His mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene.

26 And when Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son.”

27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother.” And from that hour, the disciple took her as his own.

28 After, when Jesus knew that all things were performed so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, “I thirst.”

29 And there was set a vessel full of vinegar. And they filled a sponge with vinegar and put it around a hyssop stalk and put it to His mouth.

30 Now when Jesus had received the vinegar, He said, “It is finished,” and bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

31 Then the Jews (because it was the Day of Preparation, and the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day because the Sabbath was a high day) asked Pilate if their legs might be broken so that they might be taken down.

32 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other, who were crucified with Jesus.

33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead already, they did not break His legs.

34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear. And immediately blood and water came out.

35 And he who saw it bears witness. And his testimony is true. And he knows that he speaks the truth. So that you may believe it.

36 For these things were done so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, ‘Not a bone of His shall be broken’.

37 And again, another Scripture says, ‘They shall see him whom they have thrust through’.

38 And after these things, Joseph of Arimathea (who was a disciple of Jesus - but secretly - for fear of the Jews) asked Pilate if he might take down the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave him permission. Then, he came and took Jesus’ body.

39 And Nicodemus (who first came to Jesus by night) also came and brought about a hundred pounds of myrrh and aloes, mingled together.

40 Then they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen clothes, with the odors, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

41 And in the place where Jesus was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden, a new sepulcher (in which no one had been laid).

42 Therefore, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, they laid Jesus there (for the sepulcher was near).
