2 Chronicles 25

25 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he began to reign. And he reigned for twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

And he did uprightly in the Eyes of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

And when the kingdom was established to him, he killed his servants who had killed the king (his father).

But he did not kill their children, but did as it is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses where the LORD Commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not die for the children, nor shall the children die for the fathers. But every man shall die for his own sin.”

And Amaziah assembled Judah and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the Houses of their fathers throughout all Judah and Benjamin. And he numbered them from twenty years old and above and found three hundred thousand chosen men among them to go forth to the war and to handle spear and shield.

He also hired a hundred thousand valiant men out of Israel for a hundred talents of silver.

But a man of God came to him, saying, “O king! Do not let the army of Israel go with you! For the LORD is neither with Israel nor with any of the House of Ephraim.

“If you must go, then do so. And make yourself strong for the battle. But God shall make you fall before the enemy! For God has power to help and to cast down.”

And Amaziah said to the man of God, “What shall we do then for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” Then the man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you more than this.”

10 So, Amaziah divided them. And made the army that had come to him out of Ephraim return to their place. Therefore, their wrath was kindled greatly against Judah; and they returned to their places with great anger.

11 Then Amaziah was encouraged and led forth his people and went to the salt valley and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.

12 And the children of Judah took another ten thousand alive and carried them to the top of a rock and cast them down from the top of the rock. And they all burst into pieces.

13 But the men of the army whom Amaziah had sent away, so that they could not go with his people to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth Horon, and struck three thousand of them and took much spoil.

14 Now, after Amaziah had come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the children of Seir and set them up to be his gods and worshipped them and burned incense to them.

15 Therefore, the LORD was angry with Amaziah and sent a Prophet to him, who said to him, “Why have you sought the gods of the people which were not able to deliver their own people out of your hand?”

16 And as he talked with him, he said to him, “Have we made you the king’s counselor? Cease! Why should we strike you?” And the Prophet ceased, but said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not obeyed my counsel.”

17 Then Amaziah, king of Judah, took counsel and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us face one another.”

18 But Joash, king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that is in Lebanon sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as a wife.’ And the wild beast that was in Lebanon went and trampled down the thistle.

19 “You think you have stricken Edom; and your heart lifts you up to brag. Stay at home now. Why do you provoke trouble so that you should fall, and Judah with you?”

20 But Amaziah would not hear. For it was of God, that He might deliver them into his hand because they had sought the gods of Edom.

21 So Joash, the king of Israel, went up. And he and Amaziah, king of Judah, faced one another at Bethshemesh (which is in Judah).

22 And Judah was defeated before Israel. And they fled, every man to his tents.

23 But Joash, the king of Israel, took Amaziah, king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, in Bethshemesh and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate (four hundred cubits).

24 And he took all the gold and the silver and all the vessels that were found in the House of God with Obed Edom, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and also hostages, and returned to Samaria.

25 And Amaziah, the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived for fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.

26 Concerning the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?

27 Now after the time that Amaziah turned away from the LORD, they worked treason against him in Jerusalem. And when he fled to Lachish, they sent to Lachish after him, and killed him there.

28 And they brought him upon horses and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.

Revelation 12

12 And there appeared a great wonder in Heaven: a woman clothed with the Sun. And the Moon was under her feet; and upon her head, a crown of twelve stars.

And she was with child, and cried and was pained, travailing in birth, ready to be delivered.

And there appeared another wonder in Heaven: a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns upon his heads.

And his tail drew a third of the stars of Heaven and cast them to the Earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, to devour her child when she had brought it forth.

So she brought forth a man child who should rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her child was taken up to God and to His throne.

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, so that they would feed her there for 1260 days.

And there was a battle in Heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. And the dragon fought, and his angels.

But they did not prevail, nor was their place found anymore in Heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out; that old serpent called the devil and Satan, who deceives all the world. He was cast into the Earth. And his angels were cast out with him.

10 Then I heard a loud voice in Heaven, saying, “Now is salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ! For the accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our God day and night, is cast down!

11 “But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by that word of their testimony! And they did not love their lives unto the death!

12 Therefore, rejoice, you heavens! And you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the Earth, and of the sea! For the devil has come down to you - who has great wrath - knowing that he has but a short time.”

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast to the Earth, he persecuted the woman who had brought forth the man child.

14 But to the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly into the wilderness; into her place where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

15 And the serpent cast water after the woman - out of his mouth, like a flood - so that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood,

16 But the Earth helped the woman. And the Earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had cast out of his mouth.

17 Then the dragon was angry with the woman and went and made war with the remnant of her seed, who keep the Commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

18 And I stood on the sea sand.

Zechariah 8

Again the Word of the LORD of Hosts came, saying,

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘I was zealous for Zion with great zeal! And I was zealous for her with great wrath!’

“Thus says the LORD: ‘I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem shall be called a City of Truth, and the Mountain of the LORD of Hosts, the Holy Mountain.’

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘There, old men and old women shall still dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand because of age.

‘And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls, playing in her streets.’

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘Even if it is impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it therefore be impossible in My sight?’ says the LORD of Hosts.

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘Behold, I will deliver My people from the East country, and from the West country.

‘And I will bring them. And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be My people. And I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.’

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘Let your hands be strong, you who today hear these Words by the mouths of the Prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the House of the LORD of Hosts was laid, so that the Temple might be built.

10 ‘For before these days, there were no wages for man, or any hire for beast. Nor was there any peace for him who went out or came in, because of the affliction. For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.

11 ‘But now, I will not treat the rest of this people as before,’ says the LORD of Hosts.

12 ‘For the seed shall be prosperous. The vine shall give her fruit. And the ground shall give her increase. And the heavens shall give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

13 ‘And it shall happen at that time that as you were a curse among the heathen, O House of Judah, and House of Israel, so I will deliver you. And you shall be a blessing. Do not fear! Let your hands be strong!’

14 “For thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘As I thought to punish you when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and did not repent,

15 ‘So again have I determined in these days to do well to Jerusalem, and to the House of Judah. Do not fear.

16 ‘These are the things that you shall do: Every man speak the truth to his neighbor. Execute judgment truly and uprightly in your gates.

17 ‘And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor. And love no false oath. For these are all things that I hate,’ says the LORD.”

18 And the Word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying,

19 “Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be joy and gladness to the House of Judah, and prosperous High Feasts. Therefore, love the truth and peace.’

20 “Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘People shall still come, the inhabitants of great cities.

21 ‘And those who dwell in one shall go to another, saying, “Up! Let us go and pray before the LORD and seek the LORD of Hosts! I will go also!”

22 ‘Yea, great people and mighty nations shall come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.’

23 “Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘In those days, ten men shall take hold—out of all languages of the nations— take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, and say, ‘We will go with you! For we have heard that God is with you!’”

John 11

11 And a certain man was sick - Lazarus of Bethany (the town of Mary and her sister Martha).

And this was that same Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

Therefore, the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”

When Jesus heard it, He said, “This sickness does not end in death, but is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God might be glorified by it.”

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

And after He had heard that he was sick, He still stayed two days in the same place where He was.

Then after that, He said to His disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”

The disciples said to Him, “Master, the Jews sought to stone You recently, and yet You go there again?”

Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If someone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

10 “But if someone walks in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him.”

11 He spoke these things. And afterward, He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps. But I go to wake him up.”

12 Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps, he shall heal.”

13 However, Jesus spoke of his death. But they thought that He had spoken of the natural sleep.

14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.

15 “And I am glad, for your sakes, that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

16 Then said Thomas (who is called Didymus) to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”

17 Then Jesus came and found that he had already been in the grave four days.

18 (Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.)

19 And many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them for their brother.

20 Then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him. But Mary still sat in the house.

21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

22 “But now, I also know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother shall rise again.”

24 “Martha said to Him, “I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection, at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

26 “And whoever lives, and believes in Me, shall never die. Do you believe this?”

27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord. I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, the One coming into the world.”

28 And when she had said this, she went her way, and secretly called Mary, her sister, saying, “The Master has come, and calls for you.”

29 And when she heard it, she arose quickly, and came to Him.

30 For Jesus had not yet come into the town but was in the place where Martha met Him.

31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house and comforted her, when they saw Mary (that she rose up hastily and went out) followed her, saying, “She goes to the grave, to weep there.”

32 Then, when Mary had come to where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”

33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weep (and also the Jews who came with her weep), He groaned in the spirit and was troubled in Himself,

34 and said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”

35 Jesus wept.

36 Then the Jews said, “Behold, how He loved him.”

37 And some of them said, “Could not He, who opened the eyes of the blind, have also made it so that this man should not have died?”

38 Therefore Jesus groaned in Himself again and came to the grave. And it was a cave. And a stone was laid upon it.

39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, he stinks already. For it has been four days.”

40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”

41 Then they took away the stone where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank You, because You have heard Me.

42 “I know that You always hear Me. But I said it because of the people who stand by, so that they may believe that You have sent Me.”

43 And having spoken these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus! Come forth!”

44 Then, the one who was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with bandages. And his face was bound with a handkerchief. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him! And let him go!”

45 Then many of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed in Him.

46 But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what things Jesus had done.

47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What shall we do? For this Man does many miracles.

48 “If we let Him alone like this, all will believe in Him. And the Romans will come and take away both our place and the nation.

49 Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was the High Priest that same year, said to them, “You perceive nothing at all.

50 “Nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one Man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

51 He spoke this, not of himself, but being High Priest that same year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation;

52 and not only for the nation, but that He would gather together the children of God who were scattered.

53 Then, from that day forth, they plotted to put Him to death.

54 Therefore Jesus walked openly no more among the Jews; but went from there to a country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and stayed there with His disciples.

55 And the Jews’ Passover was at hand. And many went out of the country before the Passover, up to Jerusalem, to purify themselves.

56 Then they sought for Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the Temple, “What do you think - that He will not come to the Feast?”

57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment that if anyone knew where He was, he should make it known, so that they might take Him.
