1 Chronicles 29

29 Moreover, David the king said to all the Congregation, “God has chosen Solomon, my only son, young and tender. And the work is great! For this House is not for man, but for the LORD God.

“Now, I have prepared for the House of my God with all my power: gold for vessels of gold, and silver for those of silver, and bronze for things of bronze, iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood, and onyx stones and stones to be set, and carbuncle stones, and stones of diverse colors, and all precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.

“Moreover, because I take delight in the House of my God, I have given some of my own gold and silver to the House of my God, besides all that I have prepared for the House of the Sanctuary,

“three thousand talents of gold of the gold of Ophir and seven thousand talents of fined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses,

“the gold for the things of gold and the silver for things of silver and for all the work by the hands of artificers. And who is willing to fill his hand to the LORD today?”

So the princes of the families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly.

And they gave for the service of the House of God: five thousand talents and ten thousand pieces of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze and one hundred thousand talents of iron.

And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the House of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

And the people willingly rejoiced when they offered; for they offered willingly to the LORD, with a perfect heart. And David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

10 Therefore, David blessed the LORD before all the Congregation. And David said, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel, our father forever and ever!

11 “Yours, O LORD, is greatness and power and glory and victory and praise, for all that is in Heaven and on Earth! Yours is the kingdom, O LORD! And You excel as Head over all!

12 “Both riches and honor come from You; and You reign over all! And in Your Hand is power and strength! And in Your Hand it is to make great and to give strength to all!

13 “Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious Name!

14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer willingly in this way? For all things come from You. And from Your own Hand we have given to You.

15 “For we are strangers before You, and sojourners, like all our fathers. Our days are like the shadow upon the Earth. And there is no hope.

16 “O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared, to build You a House for Your Holy Name, is from Your Hand. And all is Yours.

17 “I also know, my God, that You test the heart, and have pleasure in righteousness. I have offered all these things willingly in the uprightness of my heart. Now, I have also seen Your people who are found here offer to You willingly with joy.

18 “O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel our fathers! Keep this forever in the intentions and the thoughts of the hearts of Your people. And prepare their hearts for You.

19 “And give to Solomon, my son, a perfect heart to keep Your Commandments, Your Testimonies, and Your Statutes, and to do all things and to build the House which I have prepared.”

20 And David said to all the congregation, “Now bless the LORD your God!” And all the Congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers and bowed down their heads and paid homage to the LORD and the king.

21 And they offered sacrifices to the LORD. And the next day after that day, they offered Burnt Offerings to the LORD: a thousand young bullocks, a thousand rams and a thousand sheep, with their abundant Drink Offerings and Sacrifices, for all Israel.

22 And they ate and drank before the LORD that same day with great joy. And they made Solomon, the son of David, king a second time, and anointed him prince before the LORD, and Zadok for the High Priest.

23 So, Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David, his father, and prospered. And all Israel obeyed him.

24 And all the princes and men of power and all the sons of King David submitted themselves under King Solomon.

25 And the LORD magnified Solomon in dignity, in the sight of all Israel, and gave him a more glorious kingdom than any king had ever had before him in Israel.

26 Thus, David, the son of Jesse, reigned over all Israel.

27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

28 And he died at a good age, full of days, riches and honor. And Solomon, his son, reigned in his place.

29 Concerning the acts of David the king, first and last, behold they are written in the Book of Samuel the Seer and in the Book of Nathan the Prophet and in the Book of Gad the Seer,

30 with all his reign and his power and the accounts of him and of Israel and of all the kingdoms of the Earth.

2 Peter 3

This second letter I now write to you, beloved (with which I stir up and warn your pure minds),

to remind you of the words which were foretold by the holy Prophets; and of the Commandment by us, the Apostles of the Lord and Savior.

First, understand this: that in the last days there shall come mockers, who will walk after their lusts

and say, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the Fathers died, all things continue just as from the beginning of the creation.”

For of this they are willingly ignorant: that the heavens were of old; and the Earth—which was of the water and by the water—by the Word of God;

through which water the world that then existed perished, being flooded.

But the heavens and Earth which exist now are stored up by the same Word, and reserved for fire until the Day of Condemnation, and of the destruction of ungodly men.

Dearly beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing: that one day is as a thousand years with the Lord, and a thousand years as one day.

The Lord of that promise is not slow as some think of slowness; but is patient toward us, and would have no one perish, but have all come to repentance.

10 But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, on which the heavens shall pass away with a great rushing noise and the elements shall melt with heat. And the Earth, with the works in it, shall be burnt up.

11 Therefore, seeing that all these things must be dissolved, what kind of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness

12 (expecting and earnestly desiring the coming of that Day of God by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with heat)?

13 But we look for new heavens and a new Earth (according to His promise), in which dwells righteousness.

14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.

15 And consider that the patience of our Lord is salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him.

16 As in all his letters, he speaks of these things; among which, some things are hard to understand (which the unlearned and unstable twist, as they do other Scriptures to their own destruction).

17 Therefore you, beloved - seeing you know these things beforehand - beware, lest you are also plucked away with the error of the wicked and fall from your own steadfastness.

18 But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now and forevermore. Amen.

Micah 6

Listen now to what the LORD says: “Arise! Plead before the mountains! And let the hills hear your voice!”

Hear, O mountains, the LORD’s quarrel, and you mighty foundations of the Earth! For the LORD has a quarrel against His people. And He will dispute with Israel.

“O My people! What have I done to you? Or in what have I grieved you? Testify against Me.

“Surely, I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of servants. And I have sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam before you.”

O My people! Remember now what Balak, king of Moab, had devised, and what Balaam, the son of Beor, answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may know the righteousness of the LORD.

With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with Burnt Offerings, with calves of a year old?

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

He has shown you, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of you: surely to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

The LORD’s voice cries to the city! And the man of wisdom shall see Your Name. “Hear the rod and Who has appointed it!

10 “Are the treasures of wickedness still in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

11 “Shall I justify the wicked balances, and the bag of deceitful weights?

12 “For their rich men are full of cruelty. And their inhabitants have spoken lies. And their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13 “Therefore, I will also make you sick by striking you, by making you desolate because of your sins.

14 “You shall eat and not be satisfied. And your casting down shall be in the midst of you. And you shall take hold but shall not deliver. And that which you do deliver, I will give up to the sword.

15 “You shall sow, but not reap. You shall tread the olives, but you shall not anoint yourself with oil and sweet wine, and shall not drink wine.

16 “For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the House of Ahab. And you walk in their counsels, so that I should make you a desolation and your inhabitants a hissing. Therefore, you shall bear the reproach of My people.”

Luke 15

15 Then all the tax collectors and sinners came to Him, to hear Him.

Therefore, the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, “He receives sinners, and eats with them.”

Then He spoke this parable to them, saying,

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he finds it?

“And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders with joy.

“And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me! For I have found my sheep which was lost!’

“I say to you that joy shall likewise be in Heaven for one sinner who converts, more than for ninety-nine righteous ones who have no need of repentance.

“Or what woman having ten drachmas, if she loses one drachma, does not light a candle and sweep the house and seek diligently till she finds it?

“And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me! For I have found the coin which I had lost!’

10 “Likewise I say to you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God for one sinner who converts.”

11 He said moreover, “A certain man had two sons.

12 “And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of the goods that falls to me.’ So, he divided his livelihood among them.

13 “So, not many days after, when the younger son had gathered everything together, he took his journey into a far country. And there he wasted his goods with riotous living.

14 “Now, when he had spent everything, there arose a great famine throughout that land. And he began to be in want.

15 “Then he went and kept company with a citizen of that country. And he sent him to his farm to feed swine.

16 “And he would have filled his belly with the husks that the swine ate, but no one gave him any.

17 “Then he came to himself and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have enough bread, and I die for hunger?

18 ‘I will rise and go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you,

19 “and am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’

20 “So he arose and came to his father. And when he was still a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you, and am no more worthy to be called your son.’

22 “Then the father said to his servants, ‘Bring forth the best robe and put it on him! And put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet!

23 ‘And bring the fat calf and kill him! And let us eat and be merry!

24 ‘For this my son was dead, and is alive again! And he was lost, but he is found!’ And they began to be merry.

25 “Now the elder brother was in the field. And when he came and drew near to the house, he heard melody and dancing,

26 “And he called one of his servants and asked what those things meant.

27 “And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come. And your father has killed the fat calf because he has received him safe and sound.’

28 “Then he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore, his father came out and implored him.

29 “But he answered, and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have done you service and have always obeyed you! And yet you never gave me a kid that I might make merry with my friends!

30 ‘But when this, your son, had come - who had devoured your goods with harlots - you have killed the fat calf for his sake!’

31 “And he said to him, “Son, you are always with me. And all that I have is yours. It was fitting that we should celebrate and be glad. For this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. And he was lost, but he is found.”
