M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
1 Then, after the death of Ahab, Moab rebelled against Israel.
2 And Ahaziah fell through the lattice window in his upper chamber, which was in Samaria. So he was sick. Then he sent messengers, to whom he said, “Go. Inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, if I shall recover from this, my disease.”
3 Then the Angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise. Go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, “Is it not because there is no God in Israel that you go to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?
4 “Therefore, thus says the LORD: ‘You shall not come down from the bed on which you have gone up but shall die the death.’” So, Elijah departed.
5 And the messengers returned to him, to whom he said, “Why have you now returned?”
6 And they answered him, “A man came and met us, and said to us, ‘Go. Return to the king who sent you, and say to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Is it not because there is no God in Israel that you send to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the God of Ekron? Therefore, you shall not come down from the bed on which you have gone up but shall die the death.’”’”
7 And he said to them, “What kind of man was he who came and met you and told you these words?”
8 And they said to him, “He was a hairy man, and girded with a girdle of leather around his loins.” Then he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”
9 Therefore, the king sent to him a captain over fifty, with his fifty, who went up to him. Behold, he sat on the top of a mountain, and he said to him, “O man of God, the king has commanded that you come down.”
10 But Elijah answered, and said to the captain over the fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky and devour you and your fifty.” So, fire came down from the sky and devoured him and his fifty.
11 Again also, he sent to him another captain over fifty, with his fifty, who spoke, and said to him, “O man of God! The king commands thus, “Come down quickly!”
12 But Elijah answered, and said to them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from the sky and devour you and your fifty.” So, fire came down from the sky and devoured him and his fifty.
13 Yet again, he sent a third captain over fifty, with his fifty. And the third captain over fifty went up and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, “O man of God! Please let my life and the lives of these, your fifty servants, be precious in your sight!
14 “Behold, fire came down from the sky and devoured the two previous captains over fifty, with their fifties. Therefore, let my life now be precious in your sight!”
15 And the Angel of the LORD said to Elijah, “Go down with him, do not be afraid of his presence.” So, he arose and went down with him to the king.
16 And he said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron (was it not because there was no God in Israel to inquire of His Word?), therefore you shall not come down off the bed on which you have gone up but shall die the death.’”
17 So he died, according to the Word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his place, in the second year of Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, because he had no son.
18 Concerning the rest of the acts of Ahaziah, that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
1 Paul and Silvanus, and Timothy, To the Church of the Thessalonians, which is in God our Father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace be with you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We ought to thank God always for you, brothers (as is fitting), because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you toward each other abounds.
4 So that we ourselves rejoice over you in the churches of God because of your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you suffer.
5 (a sign of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer).
6 For it is a righteous thing with God to repay those who trouble you with tribulation.
7 And to you who are troubled: rest with us when the Lord Jesus shall show Himself from Heaven with His mighty angels
8 in flaming fire, rendering vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;
9 who shall be punished with everlasting perdition from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power
10 when He shall, on that Day, come to be glorified in His saints and made marvelous in all those who believe, because our testimony toward you was believed.
11 Therefore, we pray always for you that our God may make you worthy of this calling and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith, with power;
12 so that the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
5 King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his princes and drank wine before the thousand.
2 And Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring him the golden and silver vessels, which his father, Nebuchadnezzar, had brought from the Temple in Jerusalem; that the king and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink from them.
3 Then were brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the Temple of the Lord’s House at Jerusalem. And the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank from them.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
5 At the same hour, appeared fingers of a man’s hand, which wrote over near the candlestick, upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace. And the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote.
6 Then the king’s countenance was changed. And his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened, and his knees struck against each other.
7 Therefore, the king loudly cried that they should bring the astrologers, the Chaldeans and the soothsayers. And the king spoke, and said to the wise men of Babel, “Whoever can read this writing, and declare me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with purple, and shall have a chain of gold around his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom!”
8 Then came all the king’s wise men, but they could neither read the writing, nor show the king the interpretation.
9 Then King Belshazzar was greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed, and his princes were astonished.
10 Now the queen, by reason of the talk of the king and his princes, came into the banquet house. And the queen spoke, and said, “O king, live forever. Let not your thoughts trouble you, nor your countenance change.
11 “There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him whom the king Nebuchadnezzar, your father, the king, I say, your father, made chief of the enchanters, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
12 “Because a more excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding (for he expounded dreams, and declared hard sentences, and dissolved doubts) were found in him, even in Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now, let Daniel be called. And he will declare the interpretation.”
13 Then Daniel was brought before the king. And the king spoke and said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom my father the king brought out of Jewry?
14 “Now, I have heard of you; that the spirit of the holy gods is in you; and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
15 “Now therefore, wise men and astrologers have been brought before me, that they should read this writing, and show me the interpretation thereof. But they could not declare the interpretation of the thing.
16 “Then I heard of you; that you could show interpretations, and dissolve doubts. Now, if you can read the writing, and show me the interpretation thereof, you shall be clothed with purple, and shall have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”
17 Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Keep your rewards to yourself, and give your gifts to another. I will still read the writing to the king and show him the interpretation.
18 “O king, hear. The most high God gave to Nebuchadnezzar, your father, a kingdom, and majesty, and honor, and glory.
19 “And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled, and feared before him. He put to death whom he would. He struck whom he would; whom he would he set up, and whom he would he put down.
20 “But when his heart was puffed up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his honor from him.
21 “And he was driven from the sons of men. And his heart was made like the beasts. And his dwelling was with the wild asses. They fed him with grass, like oxen. And his body was wet with the dew of the heaven, till he knew that the most high God bore rule over the kingdom of men, and that he appoints whomever he pleases over it.
22 “And you, his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all these things,
23 “But have lifted yourself up against the Lord of Heaven. And they have brought the vessels of his House before you. And you and your princes, your wives and your concubines have drunk wine in them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor understand. And the God in whose hand your breath is, and all your ways, him have you not glorified.
24 “Then was the palm of the hand sent from him and has written this writing.
25 “And this is the writing that he has written, ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN’.
26 “This is the interpretation of the thing. MENE, God has numbered your kingdom, and has finished it.
27 TEKEL, you are weighed in the balance, and are found too light.
28 PERES, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”
29 Then, at the commandment of Belshazzar, they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30 The same night was Belshazzar, the king of the Chaldeans, killed.
31 And Darius of the Medes took the kingdom, being sixty-two years old.
110 The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your power out of Zion. Be ruler in the midst of Your enemies.
3 Your people shall come willingly at the time of assembling Your army in Holy beauty. The youth of Your womb shall be as the morning dew.
4 The LORD swore, and will not repent, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord at Your right hand shall wound kings on the day of His wrath.
6 He shall be judge among the heathen. He shall fill all with dead bodies and strike the leaders of great countries.
7 He shall drink from the brook on the way. Therefore, He shall lift up His head. Praise the LORD
111 I will praise the LORD with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the Just.
2 The works of the LORD are great and are sought out by all those who love them.
3 His work is beautiful and glorious; and His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His wonderful works to be held in remembrance. The LORD is merciful and full of compassion.
5 He has given a portion to those who fear Him. He will be ever-mindful of His Covenant.
6 He has shown the power of His works to His people, in giving to them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The works of His hands are truth and judgment. All His statutes are true.
8 They are established forever and ever and are done in truth and equity.
9 He sent redemption to His people. He has commanded His Covenant forever. Holy and fearful is His Name.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD. All those who observe them have good understanding. His praise endures forever. Praise the LORD
