1 Kings 10

10 And the Queen of Sheba, hearing the fame of Solomon concerning the Name of the LORD, came to test him with hard questions.

And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, camels that bore sweet odors and gold, exceedingly much, and precious stones. And she came to Solomon and spoke with him about all that was in her heart.

And Solomon answered all her questions. Nothing was hidden from the king which he could not expound to her.

Then the Queen of Sheba saw all Solomon’s wisdom, and the House that he had built,

and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the order of his ministers, and their apparel, and his drinking vessels, and his Burnt Offerings that he offered in the House of the LORD. And it took her breath away.

And she said to the king, “It was a true word that I heard in my own land of your sayings, and of your wisdom!

“However, I did not believe this report until I came and had seen it with my eyes. But lo, one half was not told to me. You have more wisdom and goodness than I have heard reported.

“Your men are happy. Happy are these, your servants, who always stand before you and hear your wisdom.

“Blessed be the LORD your God, Who loved you, to set you on the throne of Israel because the LORD loved Israel forever, and made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

10 And she gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and exceedingly many sweet odors, and precious stones. There was never so much such abundance of sweet odors as the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11 Also, the navy of Hiram which carried gold from Ophir, brought a great plenty of Almuggim trees from Ophir, and precious stones.

12 And the king made pillars for the House of the LORD from the Almuggim trees, and for the king’s palace, and made harps and psalteries for singers. No more such Almuggim trees ever came, nor were any more seen to this day.

13 And King Solomon gave to the Queen of Sheba whatever she asked (in addition to that which Solomon gave her of his kingly liberality). So, she returned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

14 Also, the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,

15 in addition to that of merchant men and of the merchandises of those who sold spices, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the princes of the country.

16 And King Solomon made two hundred shields of beaten gold, six hundred shekels of gold per shield:

17 And three hundred bucklers of beaten gold, three pounds of gold went to one buckler. And the king put them in the house of the wood of Lebanon.

18 Then the king made a great throne of ivory and covered it with the best gold.

19 And the throne had six steps. And the top of the throne was round behind. And there were stays on either side, on the place of the throne, and two lions standing by the stays.

20 And there stood twelve lions on the six steps on either side. There was nothing like it made in any kingdom.

21 And all King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold. And all the vessels of the house of the wood of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were silver. For it was nothing esteemed in the days of Solomon.

22 For the king had the navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram on the sea. The navy of Tarshish came every three years and brought gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

23 So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the Earth, both in riches and in wisdom.

24 And all the world sought to see Solomon, to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart.

25 And every man brought his present: vessels of silver and vessels of gold and raiment and armor and sweet odors, horses and mules, from year to year.

26 Then Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. And he had a thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he placed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.

27 And the king gave silver in Jerusalem as stones and gave cedars as the wild fig trees that grow abundantly in the plain.

28 Also, Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and fine linen. The king’s merchants received the linen for a price.

29 There came up and went out of Egypt chariots worth six hundred shekels of silver, one horse being a hundred fifty. And thus they brought horses to all the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of Aram, according to their means.

Philippians 1

Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the elders and deacons:

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God with every remembrance of you,

(always, in all my prayers for all you, praying with joy),

because of the fellowship which you have in the Gospel, from the first day until now.

And I am persuaded of this same thing: that He who has begun this good work in you will perfect it until the Day of Jesus Christ;

just as it is right for me to think this way of you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel you all were fellow partakers of grace with me.

For God is my witness how I long after you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

10 so that you may test those things which are better; that you may be pure and without offense until the Day of Christ,

11 filled with the fruit of righteousness which is by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

12 Brothers, I desire that you understand that the things which are against me have really caused a furthering of the Gospel.

13 So, as for my bonds in Christ, they are famous throughout all the Praetorium and in all other places;

14 so much so that many of the brothers in the Lord are emboldened by my bonds and dare speak the Word of God more frankly.

15 Indeed, some preach Christ out of envy and strife, but some also out of goodwill.

16 Indeed, the former preaches Christ out of rivalry (and not purely, supposing to add more affliction to my bonds),

17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Gospel.

18 What then? Christ is still preached in all manner of ways, whether under a pretense or sincerely. And I rejoice in that! Indeed, and I will rejoice!

19 For I know that this shall cause my deliverance (through your prayer and by the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ)

20 as I fervently expect and hope that in nothing shall I be ashamed. But that with all confidence (as always) so now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

21 For, to me, Christ is life and death is gain.

22 But if living in the flesh brings fruit from my labor, what shall I choose? I do not know!

23 For I am caught between both desiring to be released and to be with Christ (which is best of all).

24 Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.

25 And of this I am sure: that I shall stay and continue with you all for the progress and joy of your faith,

26 so that by my coming to you again your boasting in Jesus Christ may abound through me.

27 Only conduct yourselves as it becomes the Gospel of Christ; so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your matters that you continue in one spirit and in one mind, striving together for the faith of the Gospel.

28 And be frightened in nothing by your adversaries (which is to them a proof of destruction - but to you of salvation - and this from God!).

29 For to you it is given concerning Christ that not only should you believe in Him, but also to suffer concerning Him,

30 having the same fight which you saw in me and now hear of in me.

Ezekiel 40

40 In the twenty-fifth year of our being in captivity, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was stricken, on the same day, the Hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me there.

Into the land of Israel He brought me, by a divine vision, and set me upon a very high mountain, upon which was something like the building of a city toward the South.

And He brought me there, and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze, with a linen thread in his hand and a reed with which to measure. And he stood at the gate.

And the man said to me, “Son of man, behold with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I shall show you. For you have been brought here with the intention that they might be shown to you. Declare all that you see to the House of Israel.”

And behold, there was a wall on the outside of the house, all around. And in the man’s hand was a reed with which to measure, of six cubits long by one cubit and a handbreadth. So, he measured the breadth of the building with one reed, and the height with one reed.

Then he came to the gate which looked toward the East, and went up its stairs and measured the post of the gate (one reed wide) and the other post of the gate (one reed wide).

And every chamber was one reed long and one reed wide; and between the chambers were five cubits. And the post of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed.

He also measured the porch of the gate within with one reed.

Then he measured the porch of the gate (eight cubits) and its posts (two cubits); and the porch of the gate was inside.

10 And Eastward, the chambers of the gate were three on this side and three on that side. There were three of the same measure; and the posts had one measure on this side and one on that side.

11 And he measured the width of the entry of the gate (ten cubits) and the height of the gate (thirteen cubits).

12 Also, the space before the chambers was one cubit on this side and the space was one cubit on that side; and the chambers were six cubits on this side and six cubits on that side.

13 Then he measured the gate from the roof of a chamber to the top of the gate. The width was twenty-five cubits, door to door.

14 He also made posts of threescore cubits, and the posts of the court, and of the gate, all around.

15 And from the front of the entry gate to the front of the porch of the inside gate were fifty cubits.

16 And there were narrow windows in the chambers, and in their posts, inside the gate, all around, and likewise to the arches. And the windows went all around inside. And the posts were upon palm trees.

17 Then, he brought me into the outer court. And lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court, all around, thirty chambers upon the pavement.

18 And the pavement was by the side of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates. And the pavement was beneath.

19 Then he measured the width from the front of the outer lower gate to the front of the inner court: a hundred cubits, eastward and northward.

20 And he measured the length and width of the gate of the outer court that looked toward the North.

21 And its chambers were three on this side and three on that side. And its posts and its arches were the same as the measure of the first gate. It’s length was fifty cubits, and the width was twenty-five cubits.

22 And their windows and their arches, with their palm trees, were the same size as the gate that looks toward the East. And its stairway had had seven steps; and its arches were before them.

23 And the gate of the inner court stood opposite the gate toward the North, and toward the East. And he measured a hundred cubits from gate to gate.

24 After that, he brought me toward the South. And lo, there was a gate toward the South. And he measured its posts and its arches, according to these measures.

25 And there were windows in it, and in its arches, all around, like those windows. The height was fifty cubits, and the width was twenty-five cubits.

26 And there were seven steps that go up to it; and its arches were before them; and it had palm trees, one on this side and another on that side, upon its post.

27 And there was a gate in the inner court toward the South. And from gate to gate, toward the South, he measured a hundred cubits.

28 And he brought me into the inner court, by the South gate. And he measured the South gate according to these measurements,

29 and its chambers and its posts and its arches according to these measurements. And there were windows in it and in its arches, all around, fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

30 And the arches all around were twenty-five cubits long and five cubits wide.

31 And its arches were toward the outer court. And palm trees were upon its posts. And its stairway had eight steps.

32 Again, he brought me into the inner court, toward the East. And he measured the gate according to these measures.

33 And its chambers and its posts and its arches were according to these measures. And there were windows inside. And in its arches, all around, it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

34 And its arches were toward the outer court. And palm trees were upon its posts, on this side and on that side. And its stairway had eight steps.

35 Afterward, he brought me to the North gate, and measured it according to these measures,

36 its chambers, its posts, and its arches, and its windows, all around. The height was fifty cubits, and the width was twenty-five cubits.

37 And its posts were toward the outer court. And palm trees were upon its posts, on this side and on that side. And its stairway had eight steps.

38 And every chamber and its entry was under the posts of the gates. There they washed the Burnt Offering.

39 And in the porch of the gate stood two tables on this side and two tables on that side, upon which they killed the Burnt Offering and the Sin Offering, and the Trespass Offering.

40 And at the side, beyond the steps, at the entry of the North gate, stood two tables. And on the other side (which was at the porch of the gate) were two tables.

41 Four tables were on this side and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate (eight tables), upon which they killed.

42 And the four tables for the Burnt Offering were of hewn stone, of a cubit and a half long, and a cubit and a half wide, and one cubit high. They also laid the instruments with which they killed the Burnt Offering and the Sacrifice upon it.

43 And inside were borders, a hand wide, fastened all around. And upon the tables lay the flesh of the Offering.

44 And outside the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the North gate, facing toward the South. And one was at the side of the East gate, facing toward the North.

45 And he said to me, “This chamber facing the South is for the priests who have charge to keep the House.

46 And the chamber facing toward the North is for the priests who have the charge to keep the Altar. These are the sons of Zadok, among the sons of Levi, who may come near to the LORD to minister to Him.”

47 So he measured the court —a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide —foursquare, just as the Altar before the House.

48 And he brought me to the porch of the House and measured the posts of the porch: five cubits on this side and five cubits on that side. And the width of the gate was three cubits on this side and three cubits on that side.

49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the width was eleven cubits. And there were pillars by the posts, on the way of the steps that went up to it, one on this side and another on that side.

Psalm 91

91 Whoever dwells in the secret of the Most High shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the LORD, “O my Hope, and my Fortress! My God!” In Him will I trust.

Surely, He will deliver you from the snare of the hunter, from the calamitous pestilence.

He will cover you under His wings. And you shall be sure under his feathers. His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the fear of the night; of the arrow that flies by day;

of the pestilence that walks in the darkness; of the plague that destroys at noon day.

A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand. But it shall not come near you.

Doubtless, with your eyes you shall behold and see the reward of the wicked.

For you have said, “The LORD is my hope.” You have set the Most High for your refuge.

10 No evil shall come to you. Nor shall any plague come near your house.

11 For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.

12 They shall hold you in their hands, so that you do not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You shall walk upon the lion and asp. The young lion and the dragon you shall tread underfoot.

14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore will I deliver him. I will exalt him because he has known My Name.

15 “He shall call upon Me, and I will hear him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and glorify him.

16 “I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation.” A Psalm, or song, for the Sabbath day
