M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
34 Then Dinah (the daughter of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob), went out to see the daughters of that country.
2 When Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite (lord of that country), saw her, he took her and lay with her and defiled her.
3 So, his heart desired Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. And he loved the maid and spoke kindly to the maid.
4 Then Shechem said to his father, Hamor, saying, “Get me this maid to wife.”
5 Now, Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the field. Therefore, Jacob held his peace until they had come.
6 Then, Hamor, the father of Shechem, went out to Jacob to speak with him.
7 And when the sons of Jacob had come out of the field and heard it, it grieved the men. They were very angry because he had brought disgrace in Israel in that he had laid with Jacob’s daughter, which ought not to be done.
8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, “The soul of my son, Shechem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as wife.
9 “So make marriages with us, give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to you.
10 “And you shall dwell with us; and the land shall be before you. Dwell and do your business in it and have your possessions therein.”
11 Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes; and I will give whatever you shall appoint to me.
12 “Ask of me abundantly both dowry and gifts; and I will give as you appoint to me, so that you give the maid to me as wife.”
13 Then, the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor, his father, talking deceitfully because he had defiled their sister.
14 And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to an uncircumcised man, for that would be a reproach to us.
15 “But we will consent to you in this: if you will be as we are, in that every male child among you be circumcised.
16 “Then we will give our daughters to you. And we will take your daughters to us. And will dwell with you and be one people.
17 “But, if you will not listen to us (to be circumcised), then we will take our daughter and depart.”
18 Now their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
19 And the young man did not hesitate to do the thing because he loved Jacob’s daughter. He was also the most honorable of all his father’s house.
20 Then Hamor and Shechem, his son, went to the gate of their city and communed with the men of their city, saying,
21 “These men are peaceable with us. And in order for them to dwell in the land and do their affairs therein (for behold, the land has enough room for them), let us take their daughters as wives and give them our daughters.
22 “Only herein will the men consent to dwell with us and to be one people: if all the male children among us are circumcised, as they are circumcised.
23 “Shall not their flocks and their substance and all their cattle be ours? Only, let us consent to them; and they will dwell with us.”
24 And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and Shechem, his son. And all the male children were circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.
25 And on the third day (while they were sore) two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, both took sword and went boldly into the city and killed every male.
26 They also killed Hamor and Shechem, his son, with the edge of the sword and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house and went their way.
27 The sons of Jacob came upon the dead and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.
28 They took their sheep and their cattle and their donkeys and whatever was in the city and in the fields.
29 Also, they took captives and plundered all their goods and all their children and their wives and all that was in the houses.
30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have troubled me and made me stink among the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. And they shall gather themselves together against us (we being few in number) and kill me; and so shall I and my house be destroyed.”
31 And they answered, “Should he abuse our sister as a whore?”
5 And they came over to the other side of the sea into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when He had come out of the ship, a man who had an unclean spirit met him immediately from out of the graves.
3 He dwelt among the graves. And no one could bind him, not even with chains.
4 Because, when he was often bound with shackles and chains, he broke the chains apart and destroyed the shackles. Nor could anyone tame him.
5 And always, both night and day, he cried in the mountains, and in the graves, and struck himself with stones.
6 And when he saw Jesus at a distance, he ran and worshipped Him,
7 and cried with a loud voice, and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus the Son of the Most High God!? Swear to me by God that You will not torment me!”
8 (For He said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.”)
9 And He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion. For we are many.”
10 And he urged Jesus not to send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there in the mountains a great heard of swine, feeding.
12 And all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.”
13 And immediately, Jesus gave them leave. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine. And the herd ran headlong from the high bank into the sea, (and there were about two thousand swine) and they were choked up in the sea.
14 And the swineherds fled, and told of it in the city, and in the country. And they came out to see what had been done.
15 And they came to Jesus. And they saw him who had been possessed with the demon and had the legion, sit, both clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
16 And those who saw it told them what had been done to him who had been possessed with the demon and concerning the swine.
17 Then they began to beg Jesus to depart from their coasts.
18 And when He had come into the ship, he who had been possessed with the demon begged him to let him join them.
19 But Jesus would not allow it, and said to him, “Go home to your friends and show them what great things the Lord has done for you; and how He has had compassion on you.”
20 So he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him. And all marveled.
21 And when Jesus had come over again by ship to the other side, a great multitude gathered together to Him. And He was near the sea.
22 And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue whose name was Jairus. And when he saw Him, he fell down at His feet,
23 and urgently begged Him, saying, “My little daughter lies at point of death! I beg You to come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live!”
24 Then Jesus went with him. And a great multitude followed Him.
25 And there was a certain woman who had been diseased with an issue of blood for twelve years.
26 And she had seen many physicians and had spent all that she had. And it had availed her nothing. But rather she had become much worse.
27 When she had heard of Jesus, she joined the following crowd and touched His garment.
28 For she said, “If I may but touch His clothes, I shall be whole.”
29 And instantly, the course of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And immediately, when Jesus knew in Himself the power that went out of Him, He turned and looked at the crowd, and said, “Who has touched My clothes?
31 And His disciples said to Him, “You Yourself see the crowd, and say, ‘Who touched Me?’”
32 And He looked around and saw her who had done it.
33 And the woman feared and trembled. For she knew what had been done in her. And she came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole. Go in peace and be whole of your plague.”
35 While He was still speaking, there came from that same ruler of the synagogue’s house certain ones who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Master any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard that word spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid. Only believe.”
37 And He allowed no one to follow Him except Peter, James and John (the brother of James).
38 So He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and saw the tumult and those who wept and wailed greatly.
39 And He went in, and said to them, “Why do you make this trouble, and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeps.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. But He put them all out and took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with him and entered in where the child lay.
41 And He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which is by interpretation, “Maiden, I say to you, arise.”
42 And immediately the maiden arose and walked (for she was twelve years old). And they were most greatly astonished.
43 And He strictly charged them that no one should know of it. And commanded to give her food.
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, called Job. And this man was an upright and just man, one who feared God and turned away from evil.
2 And he had seven sons and three daughters.
3 Also, the number of his livestock were seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred female donkeys. And his family was very great, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.
4 And his sons went and banqueted in their houses, each on his day, and sent and called their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5 And when the days of their banqueting had completed their cycle, Job sent, and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning and offered Burnt Offerings, according to the number of them all. For Job thought, “It may be that my sons have sinned and blasphemed God in their hearts.” Thus did Job every day.
6 Now, on a day when the children of God came and stood before the LORD, Satan also came among them.
7 Then the LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” And Satan answered the LORD, saying, “From going to and fro on the Earth. And from walking in it.”
8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you not considered My servant, Job, how no one is like him on the Earth, an upright and just man, one who fears God and turns away from evil?”
9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?”
10 “Haven’t You made a hedge around him and around his house and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands. And his possessions have increased in the land.
11 “But now, stretch out Your Hand and touch all that he has, to see if he will not blaspheme You to Your Face.”
12 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Lo, all that he has is in your hand. Only, you shall not stretch out your hand upon him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.
13 And on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house,
14 there came a messenger to Job, and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding in their places,
15 “and the Sabeans came violently and took them. Indeed, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. But only I have escaped, alone, to tell you.”
16 And while he was still speaking, another came, and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky and has burnt up the sheep and the servants and devoured them. But only I have escaped, alone, to tell you.”
17 And while he was still speaking, another came, and said, “The Chaldeans appointed three bands and attacked the camels, and have taken them, and have killed the servants with the edge of the sword. But only I have escaped, alone, to tell you.”
18 And while he was still speaking, another came and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house,
19 “and behold, there came a great wind from beyond the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, which fell upon the children and they are dead. And only I have escaped, alone, to tell you.”
20 Then Job arose and tore his garment and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshipped,
21 and said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. The LORD has given. And the LORD has taken it. Blessed be the Name of the LORD.”
22 In all this, Job did not sin or blame God foolishly.
5 Then, being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 by Whom, through faith, we also have access into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in the hope of the Glory of God.
3 Not only that, but we also rejoice in tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings forth patience
4 and patience, experience; and experience, hope.
5 And hope does not humiliate. Because the Holy Ghost, Who is given to us, drenches our hearts with the love of God.
6 For Christ, when we were still without strength, at His time, died for the ungodly.
7 Doubtless, one will scarcely die for a righteous man. Although, for a good man it may be that one dare die.
8 But God exhibits his love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more, then, being justified now by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more so (being reconciled) shall we be saved by his life.
11 And not only that, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom we have now received reconciliation.
12 Therefore, just as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin, so also death spread to all mankind. For all mankind has sinned.
13 For until the time of the Law, sin was in the world. But sin was not taken into account while there was no Law.
14 But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in a similar way to the transgression of Adam, who was the model of Him Who was to come.
15 But still, the gift is not like the offense. For if, through the offense of the one, many died, much more so has the grace of God, and the gift (by grace) of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
16 Nor is the gift as if it were from one who sinned. Indeed, judgment unto condemnation came from one. But the gift unto justification came from many offenses.
17 For if, by the offense of one, death reigned through one, much more so shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and the gift of righteousness, reign in life through One - Jesus Christ.
18 Likewise then, as by the offense of one, judgment unto condemnation came to all mankind, so also by the righteousness of One, the benefit abounded toward all mankind, to the justification of life.
19 For, as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so also by the obedience of One, shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover, there the Law entered, so that offense might abound. Nevertheless, where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.
21 So that, as sin had reigned unto death, so also might grace reign by righteousness unto eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
