M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
Laws about Flows from the Body
15 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 2 “Say to the people of Israel, ‘When a man has something flowing from his body, what is flowing is unclean. 3 If it flows, or if it fills up and stops flowing, he will be unclean. 4 Every bed on which the person with the flow lies will be unclean. 5 Whoever touches his bed must wash his clothes and wash himself in water. And he will be unclean until evening. 6 Whoever sits where the man with the flow has been sitting must wash his clothes and wash himself with water. He will be unclean until evening. 7 Whoever touches the person with the flow must wash his clothes and wash himself in water. And he will be unclean until evening. 8 If the man with the flow spits on one who is clean, then he must wash his clothes, wash himself in water, and be unclean until evening. 9 Any leather seat on which the man who is unclean has been sitting will be unclean. 10 Whoever touches anything that was under him will be unclean until evening. 11 Anyone the man with the flow touches must wash his clothes and wash himself in water. He will be unclean until evening. 12 The clay pot that the man with the flow touches must be broken. And anything made of wood must be washed in water.
13 ‘When the flow of the man stops, he will take seven days to make himself clean. Then he will wash his clothes and wash his body in running water. And he will be clean. 14 On the eighth day he will take two turtle-doves or two young pigeons, come before the Lord at the door of the meeting tent, and give them to the religious leader. 15 The religious leader will give them, one for a sin gift, and the other for a burnt gift. So the religious leader will pay for his sins before the Lord because of his flow.
16 ‘If a man’s seed comes from his sex part, he must wash his whole body in water. And he will be unclean until evening. 17 Any clothing or leather on which the seed touches must be washed with water. It will be unclean until evening. 18 If a man lies with a woman so that seed goes out from him, they must both wash themselves in water and will be unclean until evening.
19 ‘When a woman has something flowing from her body, and if it is blood, she will be unclean for seven days. Whoever touches her will be unclean until evening. 20 Everything she lies on while she is unclean will be unclean. And everything she sits on will be unclean. 21 Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and wash himself in water and be unclean until evening. 22 Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and wash himself in water and be unclean until evening. 23 If he touches anything on her bed or where she sat, he will be unclean until evening. 24 If a man lies with her so that her blood is on him, he will be unclean for seven days. And every bed he lies on will be unclean.
25 ‘If a woman has a flow of blood for many days, at a different time than when it happens each month, or if the blood flows longer at that time, all the days the blood flows she will be unclean. It will be as if it were the time when she is unclean each month. She will be unclean. 26 Any bed she lies on while her blood is flowing will be like the bed during the time she is unclean and whatever she sits on will be unclean. 27 Whoever touches them will be unclean. He must wash his clothes and wash himself in water and be unclean until evening. 28 When she becomes clean from her flow, she will wait seven days. After that she will be clean. 29 On the eighth day she will take two turtle-doves or two young pigeons, and bring them to the religious leader at the door of the meeting tent. 30 The religious leader will give one for a sin gift and the other for a burnt gift. In this way the woman will be clean before the Lord from the flow of blood that made her unclean.’
31 “In this way you will keep the people of Israel away from whatever makes them unclean or they will die because of making My meeting tent unclean that is among them.” 32 This is the law for him who has something flowing from his body, and for the man whose seed flows from his sex part and makes him unclean. 33 And this is the law for the woman who is sick because of her flow of blood, and for the man or woman who has something flowing from the body, and for the man who lies with a woman who is unclean.
Song of Thanks for Being Kept Safe
18 I love You, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, and my safe place, and the One Who takes me out of trouble. My God is my rock, in Whom I am safe. He is my safe-covering, my saving strength, and my strong tower. 3 I call to the Lord, Who has the right to be praised. And I am saved from those who hate me.
4 The ropes of death were all around me. The floods of death make me afraid. 5 The ropes of the grave were all around me. The traps of death were set for me. 6 I called to the Lord in my trouble. I cried to God for help. He heard my voice from His holy house. My cry for help came into His ears.
7 Then the earth shook. The mountains were shaking. They shook because He was angry. 8 Smoke went out from His nose and the fire that kept coming from His mouth burned everything around it. 9 He parted the heavens and came down. Dark clouds were under His feet. 10 He sat upon a cherub and flew. He traveled on the wings of the wind. 11 He made darkness His hiding place, the covering around Him, the dark rain clouds of the sky. 12 Through the light before Him passed His dark clouds, hail stones and fire. 13 The Lord made thunder in the heavens. The voice of the Most High spoke out, hail stones and fire. 14 He sent out His arrows and divided them. He threw down lightning and sent them running. 15 Then the deep part of the sea could be seen. And the deep part of the earth was opened up, because of Your sharp words, O Lord, because of the powerful breath from Your nose.
16 He sent from above, and took me. He lifted me out of many waters. 17 He took me away from the powerful one who fights against me, and from those who hated me. They were too strong for me. 18 They stood against me in the day of my trouble. But the Lord was my strength. 19 He brought me out into a big place. He gave me a safe place, because He was pleased with me.
20 The Lord has paid me because of my being right with Him. Because of my clean hands He has paid me. 21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord. And I have not sinned by turning from my God. 22 All His Laws are in front of me. I have not set His Laws aside. 23 Before Him I was without blame. And I have kept myself from sin. 24 So the Lord has paid me back for being right with Him, and for my hands being clean in His eyes.
25 To the faithful, You show Yourself faithful. To those without blame, You show Yourself without blame. 26 With the pure, You show Yourself pure. With the sinful You show Yourself to be against them. 27 You save those who are suffering, but You bring low those who have pride in their eyes. 28 You make my lamp bright. The Lord my God lights my darkness. 29 With Your help I can go against many soldiers. With my God I can jump over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect. The Word of the Lord has stood the test. He is a covering for all who go to Him for a safe place. 31 For Who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock except our God? 32 It is God Who covers me with strength and makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer. And He sets me on my high places. 34 He teaches me how to fight, so that I can use a bow of brass. 35 You have also given me the covering that saves me. Your right hand holds me up. And Your care has made me great. 36 You make the road wide for my steps, and my feet have not tripped.
37 I went after those who fight against me, and caught them. And I did not return until they were destroyed. 38 I hit them so they were not able to rise. They fell under my feet. 39 You have given me strength for war. You have put under me those who have fought against me. 40 You have made them turn their backs to me also. And I destroyed those who hated me. 41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save. They cried to the Lord, but He did not answer them. 42 Then I beat them as small as the dust in the wind. I emptied them out like mud in the streets.
43 You have taken me away from the fighting of the people. You have made me the leader of nations. People whom I have not known will serve me. 44 As soon as they hear, they obey me. Those from other lands obey me. 45 These people from other lands lose their strength of heart. And they come shaking from behind their walls. 46 The Lord lives! How great is my Rock! Praise be to the God Who saves me! 47 He is the God Who punishes those who have done wrong to me. He puts nations under my rule. 48 He saves me from those who hate me. Yes, You lift me above those who rise up against me. You save me from those who want to hurt me. 49 So I will give thanks to You among the nations, O Lord. And I will sing praises to Your name. 50 He gives His king great power over trouble. And He shows loving-kindness to His chosen one, to David, and to his children after him forever.
29 A man who does not listen after many strong words are spoken to him will be destroyed all at once and without help.
2 When those who are right with God rule, the people are glad, but when a sinful man rules, the people have sorrow.
3 A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who goes with women who sell the use of their bodies wastes his money.
4 The king makes the land strong by doing what is right and fair, but the one who takes pay for doing wrong, destroys it.
5 A man who gives his neighbor sweet-sounding words that are not true spreads a net for his own feet.
6 A sinful man is trapped by his sins, but a man who is right with God sings for joy.
7 The man who is right with God cares about the rights of poor people, but the sinful man does not understand such things.
8 Men who speak against others set a city on fire, but wise men turn away anger.
9 When a wise man argues with a foolish man, the fool only gets angry or laughs, and there is no peace and quiet.
10 Men who kill hate him without blame, but a good man cares for his life.
11 A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man keeps quiet.
12 If a ruler listens to lies, all who work for him will become sinful.
13 The Lord gives light to the eyes of both the poor man and the man who makes it hard for others.
14 If the king is fair as he judges the poor, his throne will stand forever.
15 The stick and strong words give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.
16 When the sinful are many, sins become many, but those who are right with God will see their fall.
17 Punish your son when he does wrong and he will give you comfort. Yes, he will give joy to your soul.
18 Where there is no understanding of the Word of the Lord, the people do whatever they want to, but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 A servant will not be taught by words alone. For even if he understands, he will not answer.
20 Do you see a man who is quick with his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 He who gives good care to his servant from the time he is young, will in the end find him to be a son.
22 A man of anger starts fights, and a man with a bad temper is full of wrong-doing.
23 A man’s pride will bring him down, but he whose spirit is without pride will receive honor.
24 He who works with a robber hates his own life. He knows about the bad that will come, but can tell nothing.
25 The fear of man brings a trap, but he who trusts in the Lord will be honored.
26 Many look for the ruler’s favor, but what is right and fair comes from the Lord.
27 A sinful man is a shame to those who are right with God, and he who is right with God is a shame to the sinful.
Christian Brothers, Pray for Us
3 My last words to you, Christian brothers, are that you pray for us. Pray that the Word of the Lord will go out over all the land and prove its power just as it did with you. 2 Pray that we will be kept from sinful men, because not all men are Christians. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will give you strength and keep you safe from the devil. 4 We have faith in the Lord for you. We believe you are doing and will keep on doing the things we told you. 5 May the Lord lead your hearts into the love of God. May He help you as you wait for Christ.
6 Now this is what we tell you to do, Christian brothers. In the name of the Lord Jesus, keep away from any Christian who is lazy and who does not do what we taught you. 7 You know you should follow the way of life we lived when we were with you. We worked hard while we were there. 8 We did not eat anyone’s food without paying for it. We worked hard night and day so none of you would have to give us anything. 9 We could have asked you to give us food. But we did not so that you might follow our way of living. 10 When we were with you, we told you that if a man does not work, he should not eat. 11 We hear that some are not working. But they are spending their time trying to see what others are doing. 12 Our words to such people are that they should be quiet and go to work. They should eat their own food. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we say this. 13 But you, Christian brothers, do not get tired of doing good. 14 If anyone does not want to listen to what we say in this letter, remember who he is and stay away from him. In that way, he will be put to shame. 15 Do not think of him as one who hates you. But talk to him as a Christian brother.
16 May the Lord of peace give you His peace at all times. The Lord be with you all. 17 I, Paul, write this last part with my own hand. It is the way I finish all my letters. 18 May all of you have loving-favor from our Lord Jesus Christ.
