1 Samuel 10

10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the LORD anointed you to be Governor over His inheritance?

“After you have departed from me this day, you shall find two men by Rachel’s sepulcher, on the border of Benjamin, at Zelzah; and they will say to you, “The donkeys which you went to seek have been found. And lo, your father has left the care of the donkeys and worries about you, saying, ‘What shall I do for my son?’

“Then you shall go forth from there and shall come to the plain of Tabor. And you shall meet three men there going up to God, to Bethel, one carrying three goats and another carrying three loaves of bread and another carrying a bottle of wine.

“And they will ask you if all is well and will give you the two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hands.

“After that, you shall come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is. And when you have come there to the city, you shall meet a company of Prophets coming down from the high place with a lute and a tambourine and a flute and a harp before them; and they shall prophesy.

“Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you. And you shall prophesy with them and shall be turned into another man.

“Therefore, when these signs shall come to you, do as the occasion shall require. For God is with you.

“And you shall go down before me to Gilgal. And I, also, will come down to you, to offer Burnt Offerings, and to sacrifice Sacrifices of peace. Wait for me for seven days, until I come to you and tell you what you shall do.”

And when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart. And all those signs came to pass that same day.

10 And when they came there to the hill, behold, the company of Prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him; and he prophesied among them.

11 Therefore, all the people who knew him before, when they saw that he prophesied among the Prophets, said each to other, “What has come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the Prophets?”

12 And one from the same place answered, and said, “But who is their father?” Therefore, it was a proverb, “Is Saul also among the Prophets?”

13 And when he had finished Prophesying, he came to the high place.

14 And Saul’s uncle said to him, and to his servant, “Where did you go?” And he said, “To look for the donkeys. And when we saw that they were nowhere, we came to Samuel.”

15 And Saul’s uncle said, “Tell me, please, what Samuel said to you.”

16 Then Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys had been found.” But concerning the kingdom of which Samuel had spoken, he told him nothing.

17 And Samuel assembled the people to the LORD in Mizpah,

18 And he said to the children of Israel, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘I have brought Israel out of Egypt and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hands of all kingdoms that troubled you.

19 ‘But you have this day cast away your God, Who alone delivers you out of all your adversities and tribulations. And you said to Him, “No! But appoint a king over us!” Now, therefore, stand before the LORD, according to your tribes and according to your thousands.’”

20 And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.

21 Afterward, he assembled the tribe of Benjamin, according to their families; and the family of Matri was taken. So Saul, the son of Kish, was taken. And when they sought him, he could not be found.

22 Therefore, they asked the LORD again if that man should still come there. And the LORD answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the implements.”

23 And they ran and brought him there. And when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from the shoulders upward.

24 And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you not see him whom the LORD has chosen, so that there is no one like him among all the people?” And all the people shouted and said, “God save the king!”

25 Then Samuel told the people the duty of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, each man to his house.

26 Saul, also, went home to Gibeah. And a band of men followed him whose hearts God had touched.

27 But some wicked men said, “How shall he save us?” So they despised him and brought him no presents. But he held his tongue.

Romans 8

Now, then, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the Law of the Spirit of life, Who is in Christ Jesus, has freed me from the Law of sin and of death.

For what the Law could not do (since it was weak because of the flesh) God did; having sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For those who are after the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

For the wisdom of the flesh is death. But the wisdom of the Spirit is life and peace.

Because the wisdom of the flesh is hostility toward God. For it is not subject to the Law of God, nor indeed can it be.

So, then, those who are in the flesh, cannot please God.

Now, you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Because the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, the same is not His.

10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin. But the Spirit is life, for righteousness’ sake.

11 But if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised up Christ from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies by His Spirit, Who dwells in you.

12 Therefore brothers, we are debtors; not to the flesh (to live after the flesh),

13 for if you live after the flesh you shall die. But if you mortify the deeds of the body, by the Spirit, you shall live.

14 For, as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage, to fear again. But you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba, Father!”

16 The same Spirit bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

17 If we are children, we are also heirs (even the heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ), if indeed we suffer with Him. So that we also may be glorified with Him.

18 For I consider the afflictions of this present time unworthy of the Glory which shall be shown to us.

19 For the eager expectation of the creation awaits the revealing of the sons of God.

20 Because the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but by reason of Him Who has subdued it, under hope.

21 Because the creation shall also be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation also groans with us and suffers birth pains together until now.

23 And not only the creation; but also, we who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we sigh in ourselves (awaiting the adoption, the redemption of our body).

24 For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For how can one hope for that which he sees?

25 But if we hope for that which we do not see, we await it with patience.

26 Likewise, the Spirit also helps our weakness. For we do not know what to pray as we should. But the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unutterable sighs.

27 But He Who searches the hearts, knows the meaning of the Spirit. For He intercedes for the Saints according to the will of God.

28 But we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers.

30 Moreover, those whom He predestined, He also called. And those whom He called, He also justified. And those whom He justified, He also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 He Who did not spare His own Son - but gave Him up for us all - how shall He not, with Him, also give us all things?

33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s chosen? God is the One who justifies.

34 Who shall condemn? It is Christ, Who died - indeed, or rather, Who is risen again - and Who is also at the right hand of God, interceding for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ; shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written: “For your sake we are killed all day long. We are counted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 Nevertheless, in all these things we are more than conquerors, through Him Who loved us.

38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jeremiah 47

47 The Words of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the Prophet against the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.

Thus says the LORD: “Behold, waters rise up out of the North, and shall be as a swelling torrent, and shall overflow the land and all that is in it, and the cities, with those who dwell in them. Then the men shall cry and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl

“at the noise and stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the noise of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels. The fathers shall not look back to their children, being limp-wristed

“because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to destroy Tyre and Sidon, and all the rest who take part. For the LORD will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

“Baldness has come upon Gaza. Ashkelon is cut up with the rest of their valleys. How long will you cut yourself?

“O, you sword of the LORD! How long will it be before you cease! Turn back into your scabbard! Rest and be still.

“How can it cease, seeing the LORD has given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea bank? There He has appointed it.”

Psalm 23-24

23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to rest in green pasture and leads me by the still waters.

He restores my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Name’s sake.

Indeed, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries. You anoint my head with oil; and my cup runs over.

Doubtless, kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall remain in the House of the LORD forever. A Psalm of David.

24 The Earth is the LORD’s and all that therein is, the world and those who dwell therein.

For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods.

Who shall ascend into the Mountain of the LORD? And who shall stand in His Holy Place?

He who has innocent hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his mind to vanity nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive a blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of those who seek Him, of those who seek Your face. This is Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, you gates. And be lifted up, you everlasting doors. And the King of Glory shall come in.

Who is this King of Glory: The LORD, strong and mighty. The LORD, mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, you gates. And lift up yourselves, you everlasting doors. And the King of Glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of Glory: The LORD of Hosts. He is the King of Glory. Selah. A Psalm of David.
