Version
Joshua 1

Now after the death of Moses, the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

“Moses, My servant, is dead. Therefore, arise now, go over the Jordan— you and all this people—to the land which I give them; to the children of Israel.

“Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon I have given you (as I said to Moses),

“from the wilderness and this Lebanon to the great river (the river Perath). All the land of the Hittites, even to the Great Sea, toward the going down of the Sun, shall be your territory.

“There shall not be a man able to withstand you, all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, I will be with you. I will neither leave you nor forsake you.

“Be strong and of a good courage. For to this people you shall divide the land, for an inheritance, which I swore to their fathers to give them.

“Only, be strong and of a most valiant courage, so that you may observe and do according to all the Law which Moses, My servant, has commanded you. You shall not turn away from it — to the right hand or to the left — so that you may be wise, wherever you go.

“Let not this Book of the Torah depart out of your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, so that you may observe and do according to all that is written therein. For then you shall make your way prosperous; and then you shall have good success.

“Have I not commanded you, saying, ‘Be strong and of a good courage; do not fear or be discouraged’? For I, the LORD your God, will be with you wherever you go.”

10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 “Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves. For after three days you shall pass over the Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you to possess.’”

12 And Joshua spoke to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh, saying,

13 “Remember the Word which Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you, saying, ‘The LORD your God has given you rest; and has given you this land.’

14 “Your wives, your children, and your cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan. But you shall go over before your brothers, armed (all that are men of war), and shall help them

15 “until the LORD has given your brothers rest (as well as to you) and until they shall also possess the land which the LORD your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession (which Moses, the LORD’s servant, gave you on this side of the Jordan, toward the rising Sun). And you shall possess it.”

16 Then they answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us, we will do. And wherever you send us, we will go.

17 “As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey you. Only the LORD your God be with you, as He was with Moses.

18 “Whoever shall rebel against your commandment, and will not obey your words in all that you command him, let him be put to death. Only be strong and of good courage.”

Psalm 120-122

120 I called to the LORD in my trouble and He heard me.

Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

What shall be given to you, false tongue; or what shall be done to you:

the sharp arrows of a mighty man and the coals of a juniper.

Woe is me, that I remain in Meshech and dwell in the tents of Kedar!

For too long my soul has dwelt with him who hates peace.

I seek peace; and when I speak, they are bent to war. A song of degrees

121 I will lift up my eyes to the mountain, from where my help shall come.

My help comes from the LORD, Who has made Heaven and Earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip. He Who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He Who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your Keeper. The LORD is your shadow at your right hand.

The Sun shall not strike you by day, nor the Moon by night.

The LORD shall preserve you from all evil. He shall keep your soul.

The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from henceforth and forever. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of David

122 I rejoiced when they said to me, “We will go into the House of the LORD.”

Our feet shall stand in Your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together in itself,

to which the tribes—even the Tribes of the LORD—go up (according to the testimony to Israel) to praise the Name of the LORD.

For there are thrones set for judgment, the thrones of the House of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let those who love You prosper.

Peace be within Your walls and prosperity within Your palaces.

For my brothers’ and neighbors’ sakes, I will now wish you prosperity.

Because of the House of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. A song of degrees

Isaiah 61

61 “The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me. Therefore, the LORD has anointed me. He has sent me to preach good tidings to the poor, to bind up the broken-hearted, to preach liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound,

“to preach the acceptable year of the LORD, and the Day of Vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

“to tend to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of gladness for the spirit of heaviness, so that they might be called ‘Trees of Righteousness’, the planting of the LORD, so that He might be glorified.”

And they shall build the old waste places, raise up the former desolation. And they shall repair the cities that were desolate and waste throughout many generations.

And the strangers shall stand and feed your sheep. And the sons of the strangers shall be your plowmen, and dressers of your vines.

But you shall be named the Priests of the LORD. And men shall say you are the ministers of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and shall be exalted with their glory.

Instead of your shame, you shall receive double. And for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore, in their land they shall possess double. Everlasting joy shall be to them.

“For I, the LORD, love judgment and hate robbery for Burnt Offering. And I will direct their work in truth. And I will make an everlasting Covenant with them.

“And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their buds among the people. All who see them shall know them, that they are the seed which the LORD has blessed.”

10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD. My soul shall be joyful in my God. For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation and covered me with the robe of righteousness. He has decked me like a bridegroom, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

11 For as the Earth brings forth her bud, and as the garden causes to grow that which is sown in it, so the LORD God will cause righteousness to grow, and praise, before all the heathen.

Matthew 9

Then He entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into His own city.

And lo, they brought to Him a paralytic, laid on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good courage. Your sins are forgiven you.”

And behold, certain of the Scribes said among themselves, “This man blasphemes.”

And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil things in your hearts?

“For, which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you’ or ‘Arise, and walk’?

“But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on Earth to forgive sins (then He said to the paralytic) Arise! Take up your bed and go to your house!”

And he arose and departed to his own house.

So when the multitude saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, Who had given such authority to man.

And as Jesus went forth from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth, and said to him, “Follow Me.” And he arose and followed Him.

10 And it happened that as Jesus reclined in his house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners who came there sat down at the table with Jesus and His disciples.

11 And when the Pharisees saw that, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Master eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

12 Now when Jesus heard it, He said to them, “The healthy do not need the Physician, but those who are sick.

13 “But go and learn what this means, ‘I will have mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinners, to repentance.”

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”

15 And Jesus said to them, “Can the children of the marriage chamber lament as long as the Bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the Bridegroom shall be taken from them. And then they shall fast.

16 “Moreover, no one patches an old garment with a piece of unshrunk cloth. For that which patches it pulls away from the garment, and the breach is worsened.

17 “Nor do they put new wine into old vessels. For then the vessels would break, and the wine would be spilled. And the vessels would perish. But they put new wine into new vessels. And so, both are preserved.”

18 While He spoke to them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped Him, saying, “My daughter is now deceased. But come and lay Your hand on her, and she shall live.”

19 And Jesus arose and followed him, with His disciples.

20 And behold, a woman who had been diseased with an issue of blood for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the hem of His garment.

21 For she said to herself, “If I may touch but His garment only, I shall be whole.”

22 Then Jesus turned around. And seeing her, He said, “Daughter, be encouraged. Your faith has made you whole.” And the woman was made whole at that same moment.

23 Now when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flutists and the multitude making noise,

24 He said to them, “Leave. For the maid is not dead, but sleeps.” And they laughed Him to scorn.

25 And when the multitude had been cast out, He went in and took her by the hand. And the maid arose.

26 And report of this went throughout all that land.

27 And as Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, “O son of David! Have mercy upon us!”

28 And when He had come into the house, the blind came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” And they said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

29 Then, He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith may it be done to you.”

30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly instructed them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”

31 But once they had left, they spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

32 And as they went out, behold, they brought to Him a mute man, possessed with a demon.

33 And after the demon had been cast out, the mute spoke. Then the multitude marveled, saying, “Such was never seen in Israel!”

34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons through the prince of demons.”

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

36 But when He saw the multitude, He had compassion on them, because they were troubled and tossed aside, as sheep having no shepherd.

37 Then He said to His disciples, “Surely, the harvest is great. But the laborers are few.

38 “Therefore, pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send out laborers into His harvest!”
