Deuteronomy 32

32 “Listen, you heavens, and I will speak. And let the Earth hear the words of my mouth.

“My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall still as the dew, as the shower upon the herbs and as the great rain upon the grass.

“For I will publish the Name of the LORD. Give glory to our God.

“Perfect is the work of the mighty God. For all His ways are judgment. God is true, and without wickedness. Just and righteous are He.

“They have corrupted themselves toward Him by their vice, not being his children, a perverse and crooked generation.

“Do you so reward the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? Is not He your father, Who has bought you? He has made you and established you.

“Remember the days of old. Consider the years of so many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.

“When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of Adam, He appointed the borders of the people, according to the number of the children of Israel.

“For the LORD’s portion is His people. Jacob is the lot of His inheritance.

10 “He found himself in the land of the wilderness, in a wasteland and roaring wilderness. He led him about. He taught him, kept him as the apple of His eye.

11 “As an eagle stirs up her nest — flutters over her birds, stretches out her wings, takes them, bears them on her wings —

12 “the LORD alone led him. And there was no strange god with him.

13 “He carried him up to the high places of the Earth, So that he might eat the fruits of the fields. And He caused him to suck honey out of the stone, and oil out of the hard rock.

14 “Butter from cattle, and milk from sheep with fat from the lambs, and rams fed in Bashan, and goats with the fat from the grains of wheat, and the red liquor of the grape have you drunk.

15 “But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked. You are fat, you are thick, you are engorged with fatness. Therefore, he forsook God, Who made him, and did not regard the strong God of his salvation.

16 “They provoked Him with strange gods. They provoked Him to anger with abominations.

17 “They offered to demons, not to God, to gods whom they did not know, newcomers, whom their fathers did not fear.

18 “You have forgotten the mighty God Who begat you, and have forgotten the God Who formed you.

19 “The LORD then saw it and was angry, because of the provocation of His sons and of His daughters.

20 “And He said, ‘I will hide My Face from them. I will see what their end shall be. For they are a perverse generation, children in whom there is no faith.

21 ‘They have moved Me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked Me to anger with their vanities; and I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

22 ‘For fire is kindled in My wrath, and shall burn to the bottom of Hell, and shall consume the Earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

23 ‘I will use all My plagues upon them. I will heap My arrows upon them.

24 ‘They shall be empty with hunger and consumed with heat and bitter destruction. I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the venom of serpents in the dust.

25 ‘The sword shall kill them outside and fear shall be within them: the young man, the young woman, the suckling and the man of gray hair.

26 “I have said, ‘I would have scattered them abroad. I would have made their remembrance cease from among men,

27 ‘if not for my fear of the fury of the enemy, lest their adversaries should grow proud, lest they should say, “Our high hand, and not the LORD, has done all this.’

28 “For they are a nation void of counsel. Nor is there understanding in them.

29 “Oh that they were wise, they would understand this! They would consider their latter end!

30 “How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

31 “For their god is not as our God. Even our enemies are judges.

32 “For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the vines of Gomorrah. Their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter.

33 “Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel gall of asps.

34 ‘Is not this laid in store with Me, sealed up among My treasures?

35 ‘Vengeance and recompense are Mine. Their foot shall slide in due time. For the day of their destruction is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them, make haste.

36 ‘For the LORD shall judge His people, and have compassion on His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and that no one remains, bond or free.

37 ‘When men shall say, “Where are their gods, their mighty god, in whom they trusted,

38 “who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you. Let him be your refuge.”

39 ‘Behold now. For I, I am He. And there are no gods with Me. I kill and give life. I wound. And I make whole. Nor is there anyone who can deliver out of My hand.

40 ‘For I lift up My hand to Heaven, and say, ‘I live forever.

41 ‘If I whet My glittering sword, and My hand takes hold on judgment, I will execute vengeance on My enemies, and will reward those who hate Me.

42 ‘I will make My arrows drunk with blood and My sword shall eat flesh —for the blood of the slain and of the captives—when I begin to take vengeance on the enemy.’

43 “Rejoice, O you nations of His people! For He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will execute vengeance upon His adversaries, and will be merciful to His land, and to His people.”

44 Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the audience of the people, he and Hoshea (or Joshua), the son of Nun.

45 When Moses had made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel,

46 then he said to them, “Set your hearts to all the words which I testify against you this day, so that you may command them to your children, so that they may observe and do all the Words of this Law.

47 “For it is no empty word concerning you. But it is your life. And by this word you shall prolong your days in the land to which you go over Jordan to possess.”

48 And the LORD spoke to Moses the same day, saying,

49 “Go up into the mountain of Abarim, to Mount Nebo (which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho) and behold the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession.

50 “And die on the mount which you go up to. And you shall be gathered to your people (as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people)

51 “because you trespassed against Me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah, at Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin. For you did not sanctify Me among the children of Israel.

52 “You shall, therefore, see the land before you but shall not go there, into the land which I give the children of Israel.”

Psalm 119:121-144

AIN

121 I have executed judgment and justice, leave me not to my oppressors.

122 Answer for Your servant in that which is good, and do not let the proud oppress me.

123 My eyes have failed, longing for Your salvation and for Your just Promise.

124 Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy and teach me Your Statutes.

125 I am Your servant. Grant me, therefore, understanding, that I may know Your Testimonies.

126 It is time for You, LORD, to work. For they have destroyed Your Law.

127 Therefore I love Your Commandments above gold—yea, above most fine gold.

128 Therefore I esteem all Your Precepts most just and hate all false ways.

PE

129 Your Testimonies are wonderful. Therefore, my soul keeps them.

130 The entrance into Your Words shows light and gives understanding to the simple.

131 I opened my mouth and panted, because I loved Your Commandments.

132 Look upon me and be merciful to me, as you used to do to those who love Your Name.

133 Direct my steps in Your Word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.

134 Deliver me from the oppression of men, and I will keep Your Precepts.

135 Show the light of Your Countenance upon Your servant; and teach me Your Statutes.

136 My eyes gush out with rivers of water because they do not keep Your Law.

TZADDI

137 Righteous are You, O LORD, and just are Your Judgments.

138 You have commanded justice by Your Testimonies and Truth, especially.

139 My zeal has even consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your Words.

140 Your Word is proved most pure. And Your servant loves it.

141 I am small and despised, yet I do not forget Your Precepts.

142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness. And Your Law is Truth.

143 Trouble and anguish have come upon me. Yet are the Commandments my delight.

144 The righteousness of Your Testimonies is everlasting. Grant me understanding, and I shall live.

Isaiah 59

59 Behold, the LORD’s Hand is not shortened, that it cannot save. Nor is His Ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

But your iniquities have put separation between you and your God. And your sins have hidden His Face from you, so that He will not hear.

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue has murmured iniquity.

No man calls for justice. No man contends for truth. They trust in vanity and speak vain things. They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.

They hatch viper’s eggs and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs, dies. And that which is stepped on breaks out into a serpent.

Their webs shall be no garment. Nor shall they cover themselves with their labors. Their works are works of iniquity. And the work of cruelty is in their hands.

Their feet turn to evil, and they hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are wicked thoughts. Desolation and destruction are in their paths.

The way of peace they do not know. And there is no justice in their ways. They have made themselves crooked paths. Whoever goes in there shall not know peace.

Therefore judgment is far from us. Nor does justice come near to us. We wait for light, but lo, it is darkness, for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as one without eyes. We stumble at the noon day as in the twilight, in solitary places, as dead men.

11 We roar all like bears and mourn like doves. We look for judgment, but there is none, for health, but it is far from us.

12 For our trespasses are many before You. And our sins testify against us. For our trespasses are with us. And we know our iniquities

13 in trespassing and lying against the LORD. And we have departed away from our God, have spoken of cruelty and rebellion, conceiving and uttering false matters out of the heart.

14 Therefore, judgment has turned backward. And justice stands far off. For truth has fallen in the street, and truth cannot enter.

15 Yea, truth fails. And he who refrains from evil makes himself a prey. And when the LORD saw it, it displeased Him that there was no judgment.

16 And when He saw that there was no man, He wondered that none would offer himself. Therefore, His Arm saved it, and His righteousness itself sustained it.

17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon His Head. And He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

18 As a recompense, to requite the fury of the adversaries (a recompense to His enemies), He will fully repay the islands.

19 So shall they fear the Name of the LORD from the West, and His Glory from the rising of the Sun. For the enemy shall come like a flood. But the Spirit of the LORD shall chase him away.

20 “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to those who turn from iniquity in Jacob,” says the LORD.

21 “And I will make this My Covenant with them,” says the LORD, “My Spirit, Who is upon you, and My Words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of the seed of your seed,” says the LORD, “from henceforth, even forever.”

Matthew 7

“Judge not, that you be not judged.

“For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged. And with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again.

“And why do you see the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, and not perceive the beam that is in your own eye?

“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me cast out the splinter from your eye’, and behold a beam is in your own eye?

“Hypocrite! First, cast out that beam from your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast out the splinter from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give that which is holy to dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they tread them under their feet. And, turning again, all attack you!

“Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

“For whoever asks, receives. And the one who seeks, finds. And to the one who knocks, it shall be opened.

“For what man is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, would give him a stone?

10 “Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?

11 “If you then, who are evil, can give to your children good gifts, how much more shall your Father, Who is in Heaven, give good things to those who ask Him?

12 “Therefore, whatever you would have men do to you, even so do to them. For this is the Law and the Prophets.

13 “Enter in at the strait gate. For it is the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction. And many go in there.

14 “Because the gate is strait and the way narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing; but inwardly, they are ravening wolves.

16 “You shall know them by their fruits. Does man gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

17 “So every good tree brings forth good fruit, and a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.

18 “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 “Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

20 “Therefore, you shall know them by their fruits.

21 “Not everyone that says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does My Father’s will, Who is in Heaven.

22 “Many will say to Me on that Day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your Name; and by Your Name cast out demons; and by Your Name done many great works?’

23 “And then will I proclaim to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work iniquity.’

24 “Whoever then hears these words, and does the same, will be like a wise man who has built his house on a rock.

25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house. And it did not fall. For it was grounded on a rock.

26 “But whoever hears these, My words, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man, who has built his house upon the sand.

27 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house. And it fell. And its fall was great.”

28 And it happened that when Jesus had ended these words, the people were astonished at His doctrine.

29 For He taught them as One having authority, and not as the scribes.
