M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
20 “When you shall go forth to war against your enemies and shall see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them. For the LORD your God is with you, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
2 “And when you have come near the battle, then the Priest shall come forth to speak to the people,
3 “and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel. You have come this day to battle against your enemies. Do not let your hearts faint or fear or tremble or dread them.
4 ‘For the LORD your God goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’
5 “And let the officers speak to the people, saying, ‘Whatever man who has built a new house and has not dedicated it, let him go and return to his house, lest he dies in the battle and another man dedicates it.
6 ‘And whatever man who has planted a vineyard and has not eaten of the fruit, let him go back to his house, lest he dies in the battle and another eats the fruit.
7 ‘And whatever man who has betrothed a wife and has not yet married her, let him go back to his house, lest he die in battle and another man marries her.’
8 “And let the officers speak further to the people, and say, ‘Whoever is afraid and faint-hearted, let him go and return to his house, lest his brother’s heart faints like his heart.’
9 “And after the officers have made an end of speaking to the people, they shall make captains of the army to govern the people.
10 “When you come near to a city, to fight against it, you shall offer it peace.
11 “And if it answers you peaceably, and opens to you, then let all the people who are found in it be tributaries to you and serve you.
12 “But if it will make no peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it.
13 “And the LORD your God shall deliver it into your hands. And you shall strike all its males with the edge of the sword.
14 “But the women and the children and the cattle and all that is in the city, all its spoil you shall take for yourself. And you shall eat the spoil of your enemies which the LORD your God has given you.
15 “Thus shall you do to all the cities which are far away from you, which are not of the cities of these nations here.
16 “But of the cities of this people, which the LORD your God shall give you to inherit, you shall save no person alive.
17 “But you shall utterly destroy them—the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites—as the LORD your God has Commanded you,
18 “so that they do not teach you to follow after all their abominations which they have done for their gods, that you should sin against the LORD your God.
19 “When you have besieged a city for a long time, and made war against it, to take it, do not destroy its trees by striking them with an axe. If you may eat from them, then you shall not cut them down to further yourself in the siege, (for the tree of the field is man’s sustenance).
20 “Only those trees which you know are not for food shall you destroy and cut down and make forts against the city that makes war with you, until you subdue it.”
107 Praise the LORD, because He is good; for His mercy endures forever.
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the LORD show how He has delivered them from the hand of the oppressor—
3 and gathered them out of the lands—from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
4 They wandered in the desert wilderness, out of the way, and found no city to dwell in.
5 Both hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble. He delivered them from their distress
7 and led them forth by the right way, so that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Let them confess, before the LORD, His lovingkindness and His wonderful works before the sons of men.
9 For He satisfied the thirsty soul and filled the hungry soul with goodness.
10 Those who dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death (being bound in misery and iron
11 because they rebelled against the words of the LORD and despised the counsel of the Most High
12 when He humbled their heart with heaviness), they fell down; and there was no helper.
13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble. He delivered them from their distress.
14 He brought them out of darkness, and the shadow of death, and broke their bands apart.
15 Let them confess, before the LORD, His lovingkindness, and his wonderful works, before the sons of men.
16 For He has broken the gates of brass and burst the bars of iron apart.
17 Fools, by reason of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Their soul abhors all food, and they are brought to death’s door.
19 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble. He delivers them from their distress.
20 He sends His Word and heals them and delivers them from their graves.
21 Let them confess, before the LORD, His lovingkindness, and His wonderful works before the sons of men.
22 And let them offer sacrifices of praise and declare His works with rejoicing.
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, occupying by the great waters,
24 they see the works of the LORD, and His wonders, in the deep.
25 For He commands and raises the stormy wind; and it lifts up the waves thereof.
26 They mount up to the heaven, descend to the deep, so that their soul melts for trouble.
27 They are tossed to and fro and stagger like a drunken man. And all their cunning is gone.
28 Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distress.
29 He turns the storm to calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
30 When they are quieted, they are glad; and He brings them to the haven where they wish to be.
31 Let them confess, before the LORD, His lovingkindness, and His wonderful works before the sons of men.
32 And let them exalt Him in the congregation of the people and praise Him in the assembly of the elders.
33 He turns the floods to a wilderness, the springs of waters into dryness,
34 a fruitful land into barrenness, because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein.
35 He turns the wilderness into pools of water, and the dry land into water springs.
36 And there He places the hungry; and they build a city in which to dwell,
37 and sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which bring forth fruitful increase.
38 For He blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly; and He does not diminish their cattle.
39 Again, they are diminished and brought low by oppression, evil and sorrow.
40 He pours contempt upon princes and causes them to err in desert places, out of the way.
41 Yet he raises up the poor out of misery and makes families, like a flock of sheep.
42 The righteous shall see it and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Who is wise? Let him observe these things and understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
47 “Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter, Babel! Sit on the ground! There is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no longer be called, ‘tender’ and ‘delicate’.
2 “Take the millstones and grind meal. Loosen your veil. Make your feet bare. Uncover your leg. Pass through the rivers.
3 “Your filthiness shall be uncovered, and your shame shall be seen. I will take vengeance, and I will not meet you as a man.”
4 Our Redeemer is the LORD of Hosts. His Name: The Holy One of Israel.
5 “Sit still and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For no more shall you be called, ‘The Lady of Kingdoms’.
6 “I was angry with My people: I have polluted My inheritance and given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy, but you laid your very heavy yoke upon the aged.
7 “And you said, ‘I shall be a lady forever’, so that you did not set your mind to these things, nor did you remember their end result.
8 “Hear now, therefore, you who are given to pleasures and dwells securely. She says in her heart, ‘I am and no one else. I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children.’
9 “But these two things shall come to you suddenly on one day: the loss of children and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their perfection, for the multitude of your divinations, and for the great abundance of your enchanters.
10 “For you have trusted in your wickedness. You have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have caused you to rebel. And you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and no one else.’
11 “Therefore, misery shall come upon you. And you shall not know its morning. Destruction shall fall upon you, which you shall not be able to put away. Destruction shall come upon you suddenly, you not being aware.
12 “Stand, now, among your enchanters, and in the multitude of your soothsayers (with whom you have wearied yourself from your youth) if so be you may have profit, or if so be you may have strength.
13 “You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Now let the astrologers, the stargazers, and prognosticators stand up and save you from these things that shall come upon you.
14 “Behold, they shall be as stubble. The fire shall burn them. They shall not deliver their own lives from the power of the flame. There shall be no coals at which to warm or light by which to sit.
15 “Thus shall they with whom you have wearied yourself serve you, your merchants from your youth. Everyone shall wander to his own quarters. No one shall save you.”
17 Then there came one of the seven angels who had the seven vials and talked with me, saying to me, “Come. I will show you the damnation of the great whore who sits upon many waters;
2 with whom the kings of the Earth have committed fornication. And the inhabitants of the Earth are drunk with the wine of her fornication.”
3 So he carried me away into the wilderness, in the Spirit. And I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast - full of names of blasphemy - which had seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls; and had a cup of gold in her hand, full of the abomination and filthiness of her fornication.
5 And on her forehead was a name written: “A Mystery. The great Babylon. The mother of whoredoms and abominations of the Earth.”
6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with great marvel.
7 Then the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will show you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that bears her which has seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that you have seen was and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit; and shall go into perdition. And those who dwell on the Earth - whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world - shall wonder when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 Here is the mind that has wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains whereon the woman sits. They are also seven kings.
10 Five are fallen, and one is. And another is not yet come. And when he comes, he must remain.
11 And the beast that was and is not, is also an eighth, as well as one of the seven. And all go into destruction.
12 And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom but shall receive power as kings for one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind and shall give their power and authority to the beast.
14 These shall fight with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them. For He is Lord of Lords, and King of Kings; and those who are on His side, called and chosen and faithful.”
15 And he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are people and multitudes and nations and tongues.
16 “And the ten horns which you saw upon the beast are those who shall hate the whore; and shall make her desolate and naked; and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 “For God has put in their hearts to fulfill His will, and to give their kingdom to the beast with one consent, until the words of God are fulfilled.
18 And that woman, which you saw, is that great city which reigned over the kings of the Earth.”
