Version
Deuteronomy 8

“You shall keep all the Commandments which I command you this day, to do them, so that you may live and be multiplied and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers.

“And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His Commandments or not.

“Therefore, He humbled you and made you hungry and fed you with manna, which you did not know (nor did your fathers know it), so that He might teach you that man lived not by bread only. But by every Word that proceeds out of the Mouth of the LORD does a man live.

“Your clothing did not grow old upon you, nor did your foot swell, those forty years.

“Know, therefore, in your heart, that as a man nurtures his son, so the LORD your God nurtures you.

“Therefore, you shall keep the Commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may walk in His ways, and fear Him.

“For the LORD your God brings you into a good land, a land in which are rivers of water and fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and mountains,

“a land of wheat and barley and of vineyards and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of oil, olive and honey,

“a land in which you shall eat bread without scarcity and in which you shall lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and out of whose mountains you shall dig brass.

10 “And when you have eaten and filled yourself, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.

11 “Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God, not keeping His Commandments and His Laws and His Ordinances which I command you this day.

12 “Lest when you have eaten and filled yourself and have built beautiful houses and dwelt in them

13 “and your beasts and the sheep are increased and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is increased,

14 “then your heart is lifted up and you forget the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt from the house of bondage.

15 “He was your guide in that great and terrible wilderness, in which were serpents and scorpions and drought. There was no water. He brought forth water for you out of the rock of flint.

16 “He fed you in the wilderness with manna (which your fathers did not know) to humble you and to test you, so that He might do you good in the end,

17 “lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my own hand has prepared me for this abundance.’

18 “But remember the LORD your God. For it is He Who gives you power to get substance to establish His Covenant, which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

19 “And if you forget the LORD your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify to you this day that you shall surely perish.

20 “As the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the Voice of the LORD your God.”

Psalm 91

91 Whoever dwells in the secret of the Most High shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the LORD, “O my Hope, and my Fortress! My God!” In Him will I trust.

Surely, He will deliver you from the snare of the hunter, from the calamitous pestilence.

He will cover you under His wings. And you shall be sure under his feathers. His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the fear of the night; of the arrow that flies by day;

of the pestilence that walks in the darkness; of the plague that destroys at noon day.

A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand. But it shall not come near you.

Doubtless, with your eyes you shall behold and see the reward of the wicked.

For you have said, “The LORD is my hope.” You have set the Most High for your refuge.

10 No evil shall come to you. Nor shall any plague come near your house.

11 For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.

12 They shall hold you in their hands, so that you do not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You shall walk upon the lion and asp. The young lion and the dragon you shall tread underfoot.

14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore will I deliver him. I will exalt him because he has known My Name.

15 “He shall call upon Me, and I will hear him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and glorify him.

16 “I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation.” A Psalm, or song, for the Sabbath day

Isaiah 36

36 Now, in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib, King of Assyria, came up against all the strong cities of Judah, and took them.

And the King of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish toward Jerusalem, to king Hezekiah, with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool, in the path of the launderer’s field.

Then, Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah (the steward of the house) and Shebna (the chancellor) and Joah (the son of Asaph, the recorder) came forth to him.

And Rabshakeh said to them, “Please tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, “What confidence is this, in which you trust?

“I tell you, surely your eloquence, counsel and strength are for war. On whom, then, do you trust, that you rebel against me?

“Lo, you trust in this broken staff of a reed, in Egypt, whereupon if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it, as is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all who trust in him.

“But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is not that He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah took down and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar’?

“Now, therefore, give hostages to my lord, the king of Assyria. And I will give you two thousand horses (if you are able, on your part), to set riders upon them.

“For how can you despise any captain of the least of my lord’s servants and still put your trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

10 “And have I now come up without the LORD to this land, to destroy it? The LORD said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it’.”

11 Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in the Aramaic language. For we understand it. And do not talk with us in the Jews’ tongue in front of the people who are on the wall.”

12 But Rabshakeh said, “Has my master sent me only to your master, and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, who eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?”

13 So Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, “Hear the words of the great king, of the king of Assyria!

14 “Thus says the king, ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you (for he shall not be able to deliver you)

15 ‘or let Hezekiah make you to trust in the LORD, saying, “The LORD will surely deliver us. This city shall not be given over into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

16 ‘Do not listen to Hezekiah! For thus says the king of Assyria, “Make an appointment with me. And come out to me, so that every man may eat of his own vine, and every man of his own fig tree, and every man drink the water of his own well,

17 “until I come and bring you to a land like your own land, a land of wheat and wine, a land of bread and vineyards,

18 “lest Hezekiah deceives you, saying, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

19 “Where is the god of Hamath, and of Arpad? Where is the god of Sepharvaim? Or how have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

20 “Who is he among all the gods of these lands who has delivered their country out of my hand. And the LORD will deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?”’”

21 Then they kept silent. And did not answer him a word. For the king’s commandment was, saying, “Do not answer him.”

22 Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah (the steward of the house) and Shebna (the chancellor) and Joah (the son of Asaph, the recorder) to Hezekiah with torn clothes, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

Revelation 6

After, I beheld when the Lamb opened one of the seals. And I heard one of the four beasts say with a voice like thunder, “Come!”

Therefore, I looked. And lo, there was a white horse. And he who sat on him had a bow. And a crown was given to him. And he went forth, conquering, so that he might overcome.

And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, “Come!”

And another red horse went out. And power was given to him who sat upon it to take peace from the Earth, so that they should kill one another. And there was given to him a great sword.

And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, “Come!” Then I looked and lo, a black horse. And he who sat on him had a scales in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, “A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny, and the oil and wine do not damage!”

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, “Come!”

And I looked. And behold, a pale horse. And his name who sat on him was Death. And Hell followed after him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the Earth; to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with beasts of the Earth.

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw, under the altar, the souls of those who were killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained.

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Lord - Who are holy and true - do You not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the Earth?”

11 And long white robes were given to everyone. And it was said to them that they should rest for a little season until their fellow servants, and their brothers who would be killed just as they were, were fulfilled.

12 And when he had opened the sixth seal, I looked. And lo, there was a great earthquake. And the Sun was as black as sackcloth made of hair. And the Moon was like blood.

13 And the stars of heaven fell to the Earth, as a fig-tree casts her green figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

14 And heaven departed away - as a scroll when it is rolled - and every mountain and isle were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the Earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in dens and among the rocks of the mountains;

16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us! And hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

17 “For the great Day of His wrath has come! And who can stand!?”
