M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
30 Moses also spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which the LORD has Commanded,
2 ‘Whoever vows a vow to the LORD or swears an oath to bind himself by a bond, he shall not break his promise, but shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
3 ‘If a woman also vows a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by a bond, in her father’s house, in the time of her youth,
4 ‘and her father hears her vow and bond (with which she has bound herself), and her father holds his peace concerning her, then all her vows shall stand and every bond with which she has bound herself shall stand.
5 ‘But, if her father forbids her the same day that he hears all her vows and bonds with which she has bound herself, they shall not be of value and the LORD will forgive her, because her father forbade her.
6 ‘And if she has a husband when she vows or pronounces anything with her lips (with which she binds herself)—
7 ‘if her husband heard it and holds his peace concerning her the same day he hears it—then her vow shall stand and her bonds with which she binds herself shall stand in effect.
8 ‘But if her husband forbids her the same day that he hears it, then shall he make her vow which she has made (and that that she has pronounced with her lips, with which she bound herself) of no effect. And the LORD will forgive her.
9 ‘But every vow of a widow, and of she that is divorced (with which she has bound herself) shall stand in effect with her.
10 ‘And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound herself straightly with an oath,
11 ‘and her husband has heard it and held his peace concerning her, not disallowing her, then all her vows shall stand. And every bond with which she bound herself shall stand in effect.
12 ‘But if her husband voided them the same day that he heard them, nothing that proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning her bonds shall stand in effect. Her husband has voided them. And the LORD will forgive her.
13 ‘Every vow and every oath or bond, made to humble the soul, her husband may establish it. Or, her husband may break it.
14 ‘But if her husband holds his peace concerning her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows and all her bonds which she has made. He has confirmed them because he held his peace concerning her the same day that he heard them.
15 ‘But if he breaks them after he has heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.’”
16 These are the Ordinances which the LORD Commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being young in her father’s house.
74 O God, why have You rejected us forever? Is Your wrath kindled against the sheep of Your pasture?
2 Think upon the congregation which You have possessed of old; and on the rod of Your inheritance which You have redeemed; and on this Mount Zion wherein You have dwelt.
3 Lift up Your feet to perpetual desolations. The enemy has broken everything in the Sanctuary.
4 Your adversaries roar in the midst of Your congregation and set up their banners for signs.
5 He who lifted the axes upon the thick trees was renowned as one who brought a thing to perfection.
6 But now they break down the carved work thereof with axes and hammers.
7 They have cast Your Sanctuary into the fire and razed it to the ground. They have defiled the dwelling place of Your Name.
8 They said in their hearts, “Let us destroy them altogether.” They have burnt all the synagogues of God in the land.
9 We do not see our signs. There has not been one Prophet, nor is there any with us who knows how long.
10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach You? Shall the enemy blaspheme Your Name forever?
11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Draw it out of Your bosom and consume them!
12 For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the Earth.
13 You divided the sea by Your power. You broke the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 You broke the head of Leviathan in pieces and gave him to be food for the people in wilderness.
15 You broke up the fountain and river. You dry up mighty rivers.
16 The day is Yours and the night is Yours. You have prepared the light and the Sun.
17 You have set all the borders of the Earth. You have made Summer and Winter.
18 Remember this: the enemy has reproached the LORD and the foolish people have blasphemed Your Name.
19 Do not give the life of Your turtledove to the beast. Do not forget the Congregation of Your poor, forever.
20 Consider Your Covenant; for the dark places of the Earth are full of the habitations of the cruel.
21 O, do not let the oppressed return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your Name.
22 Arise, O God! Maintain Your own cause! Remember Your daily reproach by the foolish man.
23 Do not forget the voice of Your enemies. The tumult of those who rise against You ascends continually. To him who excels: Do not destroy. A Psalm, or song, committed to Asaph
22 The burden of the Valley of Vision. What ails you now, that you have wholly gone up to the housetops?
2 You who are full of noise, a city full of brutes, a joyous city. Your slain men shall not be slain with sword, nor die in battle.
3 All your princes shall flee together from the bow. They shall be bound. All who shall be found in you, who have fled from far, shall be bound together.
4 Therefore I said, “Turn away from me. I will weep bitterly. Do not try to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
5 “For it is a day of trouble, and of ruin, and of perplexity—by the LORD God of Hosts, in the Valley of Vision, breaking down the city—and of crying to the mountains.”
6 And Elam bore the quiver in a man’s chariot with horsemen. And Kir uncovered the shield.
7 And your chief valleys were full of chariots. And the horsemen set themselves in array against the gate.
8 And he uncovered the covering of Judah. And on that day, you looked to the armor of the house of the forest.
9 And you have seen the breaches of the City of David. For they were many. And you gathered the waters of the lower pool.
10 And you numbered the houses of Jerusalem. And you have broken down the houses to fortify the wall,
11 and have also made a ditch between the two walls for the waters of the old pool, and have not looked to its Maker, nor had respect to Him Who formed it of old.
12 And on that day, the LORD God of Hosts called for weeping and mourning and for baldness and girding with sackcloth.
13 and behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine, eating and drinking. For tomorrow, we shall die.
14 And it was declared in the Ears of the LORD of Hosts. “Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you, till you die,” says the LORD God of Hosts.
15 Thus says the LORD God of Hosts: “Go! Get to that steward, to Shebna, who is over the house, and say,
16 “What do you have here and whom do you have here that you should carve yourself out a sepulcher here, as he who carves out his sepulcher in a high place, or that chisels a habitation for himself in a rock?
17 “Behold, the LORD will carry you away. The mighty man will surely cover you.
18 “He will surely roll and turn you, like a ball in a large country. There you shall die. And there the chariots of your glory shall be the shame of your lord’s house.
19 “So I will drive you from your station. And out of your dwelling will he destroy you.
20 “And on that day, I will call My servant, Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah.
21 “And with your garments I will clothe him. And with your belt I will strengthen him. Your power I will also commit into his hand. And he shall be a father of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the House of Judah.
22 “And I will lay the key of the House of David upon his shoulder. So he shall open, and no man shall shut. And he shall shut, and no man shall open.
23 “And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place. And he shall be the throne of glory for his father’s House.
24 “And they shall hang all the glory of his father’s House upon him, of the nephews and posterity, and all small vessels, from the vessels of the cups to all the instruments of music.
25 “On that day,” says the LORD of Hosts, “shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place depart and shall be broken and fall. And the burden that was upon it shall be cut off. For the LORD has spoken it.”
3 This second letter I now write to you, beloved (with which I stir up and warn your pure minds),
2 to remind you of the words which were foretold by the holy Prophets; and of the Commandment by us, the Apostles of the Lord and Savior.
3 First, understand this: that in the last days there shall come mockers, who will walk after their lusts
4 and say, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the Fathers died, all things continue just as from the beginning of the creation.”
5 For of this they are willingly ignorant: that the heavens were of old; and the Earth—which was of the water and by the water—by the Word of God;
6 through which water the world that then existed perished, being flooded.
7 But the heavens and Earth which exist now are stored up by the same Word, and reserved for fire until the Day of Condemnation, and of the destruction of ungodly men.
8 Dearly beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing: that one day is as a thousand years with the Lord, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord of that promise is not slow as some think of slowness; but is patient toward us, and would have no one perish, but have all come to repentance.
10 But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, on which the heavens shall pass away with a great rushing noise and the elements shall melt with heat. And the Earth, with the works in it, shall be burnt up.
11 Therefore, seeing that all these things must be dissolved, what kind of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness
12 (expecting and earnestly desiring the coming of that Day of God by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with heat)?
13 But we look for new heavens and a new Earth (according to His promise), in which dwells righteousness.
14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.
15 And consider that the patience of our Lord is salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him.
16 As in all his letters, he speaks of these things; among which, some things are hard to understand (which the unlearned and unstable twist, as they do other Scriptures to their own destruction).
17 Therefore you, beloved - seeing you know these things beforehand - beware, lest you are also plucked away with the error of the wicked and fall from your own steadfastness.
18 But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now and forevermore. Amen.
