Numbers 29

29 “‘Moreover, on the first day of the seventh month, you shall have a Holy Convocation. You shall do no servile work. It shall be a day of blowing the trumpets to you.

‘And you shall make a Burnt Offering for a sweet savor to the LORD: one young bullock, one ram, seven lambs of a year old, without blemish.

‘And their Meat Offering shall be of fine flour, mingled with oil—three tenths of an ephah to the bullock and two tenths of an ephah to the ram

‘and one tenth to the lamb, for the seven lambs—

‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, to make an atonement for you,

‘in addition to the Burnt Offering of the month and its Meat Offering and the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and the Drink Offerings of the same, according to their manner, for a sweet savor. It is a sacrifice made by fire to the LORD.

‘And you shall have, on the tenth day of the seventh month, a Holy Convocation. And you shall humble yourselves and shall not do any work.

‘But you shall offer a Burnt Offering to the LORD, for a sweet savor: one young bullock, a ram, and seven lambs of a year old. See that they are without blemish.

‘And their Meat Offering shall be of fine flour, mingled with oil, three tenths of an ephah to a bullock, two tenths to a ram,

10 ‘one tenth to every lamb, throughout the seven lambs,

11 ‘a male goat for a Sin Offering (in addition to the Sin Offering to make the atonement and the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings).

12 ‘And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, you shall have a Holy Convocation. You shall do no servile work thereon, but you shall keep a Feast to the LORD for seven days.

13 ‘And you shall offer a Burnt Offering for a sacrifice made by fire of sweet savor to the LORD: thirteen young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old. They shall be without blemish.

14 ‘And their Meat Offering shall be of fine flour, mingled with oil, three tenths of an ephah to every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenths to each of the two rams,

15 ‘and one tenth to each of the fourteen lambs,

16 ‘and one male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering, its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

17 ‘And the second day you shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

18 ‘with their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the manner,

19 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering (in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings).

20 ‘Also, the third day, you shall offer eleven bullocks, two rams and fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

21 ‘with their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

22 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

23 ‘And the fourth day, you shall offer ten bullocks, two rams and fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

24 ‘their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

25 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

26 ‘On the fifth day also, you shall offer nine bullocks, two rams and fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

27 ‘and their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

28 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

29 ‘And on the sixth day, you shall offer eight bullocks, two rams and fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

30 ‘and their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

31 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

32 ‘On the seventh day also, you shall offer seven bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish,

33 ‘and their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

34 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

35 ‘On the eighth day, you shall have a solemn assembly. You shall do no servile work,

36 ‘but you shall offer a Burnt Offering, a sacrifice made by fire, for a sweet savor to the LORD: one bullock, one ram, seven lambs of a year old without blemish,

37 ‘their Meat Offering and their Drink Offerings, for the bullocks, for the rams, and for the lambs, after their number, according to the manner,

38 ‘and a male goat for a Sin Offering, in addition to the continual Burnt Offering and its Meat Offering and its Drink Offering.

39 ‘These things you shall do for the LORD in your Feasts, in addition to your vows and your Free Offerings for your Burnt Offerings, and for your Meat Offerings, and for your Drink Offerings, and for your Peace Offerings.’”

Psalm 73

73 Truly, God is good to Israel, to the pure in heart!

As for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had very nearly slipped.

For I envied the boastful when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

For there are no pains in their death; but they are lusty and strong.

They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like other men.

Therefore, pride is as a necklace to them, and cruelty covers them as a garment.

Their eyes bulge with fatness. They have more than heart can wish.

They mock and wickedly speak of oppression. They talk presumptuously.

They set their mouth against Heaven, and their tongue walks through the Earth.

10 Therefore, his people return here; for waters of abundance are drained by them,

11 and they say, “How does God know it?” or “Is there knowledge in the Most High?”

12 Lo, these are the wicked; yet they always prosper and increase in riches.

13 Certainly, I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

14 For I have been punished daily and chastened every morning.

15 If I say, “I will judge like this,” behold, I have trespassed the generation of Your children.

16 When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me,

17 Then I went into the Sanctuary of God, and I understood their end.

18 Surely, You have set them in slippery places, and cast them down into desolation.

19 How suddenly they are destroyed, ended and horribly consumed,

20 As a dream when one awakes, O LORD, shall You make their image despised when You raise us up.

21 Certainly, my heart was grieved; and I was pricked in my core.

22 So foolish was I and ignorant! I was a beast before You!

23 Yet, I was always with You. You have held my right hand.

24 You will guide me by Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 Whom do I have in Heaven but You? And, I have desired nothing on the Earth besides You.

26 My flesh fails and my heart also. God is the strength of my heart and my portion, forever.

27 For lo, those who withdraw themselves from You shall perish. You destroy all those who are unfaithful to You.

28 As for me, it is good for me to draw near to God. I have put my trust in the LORD God, so that I may declare all Your works. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph

Isaiah 21

21 The burden of the Desert Sea. As the whirlwinds in the South used to pass from the wilderness, so shall it come from the horrible land.

A grievous vision was shown to me: “The treacherous deal treacherously and the destroyer destroys. Go up, Elam. Besiege Media. I have caused all its mourning to cease.”

Therefore, my loins are filled with sorrow. Sorrows have taken me, as the sorrows of a woman in childbirth. I was bowed down when I heard it. I was amazed when I saw it.

My heart failed. Fearfulness troubled me. He has turned the night of my pleasures into fear for me.

Prepare the table. Watch in the watchtower. Eat. Drink. Arise, you princes. Anoint the shield.

For thus has the LORD said to me, “Go. Set a watchman to tell what he sees.”

And he saw a chariot with two horsemen, a chariot of a donkey and a chariot of a camel. And he listened and took great care.

And he cried like a lion, “My lord! I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime. And I am set in my watch every night!

“And behold, this man’s chariot comes with two horsemen.” And he answered and said, “Babel has fallen! It has fallen! And He has broken all the images of its gods to the ground!”

10 O, my threshing, and the grain of my floor! That which I have heard from the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, I have shown to you.

11 The burden of Dumah. It calls to me out of Seir, “Watchman, what was in the night? Watchman, what was in the night?”

12 The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If you will, (as he) inquire. Return and come!”

13 The burden against Arabia. In the forest of Arabia you shall stay the night, you caravans of Dedanites.

14 O inhabitants of the land of Tema, bring forth water to meet the thirsty. Meet him who flees with bread.

15 For they flee from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

16 For thus has the LORD said to me, “Within a year (according to the years of a hireling), all the glory of Kedar shall fail.

17 “And the residue of the number of the strong archers of the sons of Kedar shall be few. For the LORD God of Israel has spoken it.”

2 Peter 2

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who shall secretly bring in damnable heresies - even denying the Lord Who has bought them - and bring upon themselves swift damnation.

And many shall follow their destructive ways, by whom the way of truth shall be blasphemed.

And through covetousness they shall, with crafty words, make merchandise of you. Their ancient condemnation is not lingering. And their destruction does not slumber.

For if God did not spare the angels who had sinned, but cast them down into Hell and delivered them into chains of darkness (to be kept for damnation);

nor spare the old world (save Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness), but brought in the Flood upon the world of the ungodly;

and turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes (condemning and overthrowing them), and made them an example to those who would live ungodly afterward;

and delivered Lot only, overwrought with the unclean conduct of the wicked

(for he - being righteous and dwelling among them - tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their unlawful deeds),

then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of trials and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the Day of Judgment;

10 and chiefly those who walk after the flesh (in the lust of uncleanness) and despise government. They are presumptuous, standing in their own conceit, and unafraid to blaspheme God’s glories.

11 Whereas, the angels (who are greater, both in power and might) do not bring slanderous judgment against them before the Lord.

12 But these, as irrational animals (born in nature for capture and corruption), blaspheme those things which they do not understand, and shall perish through their own corruption;

13 and shall receive the wages of unrighteousness as those who count it pleasure to live in debauchery every day. They are spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions while they feast with you;

14 having eyes full of adultery that cannot cease to sin, enticing unstable souls. They have hearts trained in covetousness - the children of the curse -

15 who, forsaking the right way, have gone astray. They follow the way of Balaam of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness.

16 But he was rebuked for his iniquity. The dumb beast, speaking with man’s voice, forbade the foolishness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water - clouds carried about by the wind - to whom the black darkness is reserved forever.

18 For in speaking boastful words of frivolity, they allure (with lewdness and lusts of the flesh) those who had barely escaped from those walking in error;

19 promising them freedom, but themselves the servants of corruption. For by whomever one is overcome, to him also is he in bondage.

20 For if they - after they have escaped from the filthiness of the world through the acknowledging of the Lord and the Savior Jesus Christ - are once again entangled in it and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have acknowledged the way of righteousness than to turn from the Holy Commandment given to them after they have acknowledged it.

22 But it has come to them according to the true proverb, “The dog has returned to his own vomit,” and “a sow, being washed, to wallowing in the mire.”
